The classic Ric Flair chop is done with palm, not back of the hand. Otherwise you would break your hand. The european uppercut is supposed to be an arm strike because closed fists are "banned" in wrestling (it's wrestling, not boxing); especially in Europe (e.g., the UK and Germany) they were very strict about this rule, so when those guys would come to the states they would do uppercuts "European" style. I seem to remember a certain pro-wrestler from Japan who humiliated the entire Gracie clan, but maybe that doesn't count with the tacticool kids (actually, two Japanese pro-wrestlers, if you want to count Kimura).
