  • This is from a DVD made by LGB in 2005, before they went bankrupt. I put it up here in hope that it will be available to anyone searching for it.
From the back of the packaging:
"Take a tour of the World of LGB without leaving your living room!
See the LGB factory, LGB layouts in action and more."

No wonder LGB is expensive, but it is beautifully made and stands apart in a world where everything is built down to a price at the expense of quality. The good news is that there is no shortage of new and slightly used (it never wears out) LGB product out there on eBay etc. The few times I've used a non LGB piece on my large G scale layout, I've always felt it was inferior. LGB is worth the money!

LGB is sold in North America through Walthers, who took over from Ernst Paul Lehmann's subsidiary, LGB of America, when Märklin bought the LGB assets. Most of the European prototypes were manufactured in Germany, while much of the North American rolling stock was made in China.

+Balto Marklin took over the LGB line in 2006/07 and it's still being produced but in Hungry now instead of Germany.

Are some of them still made in China as was being done at the very end of LGB?

Apparently items that were being made in China are now made in a Marklin facility in Hungry along with the former German made models.

Hi, I am very fond of trains and I am about to carry out a project with large-scale trains and I have two questions.
    where they are located?
can one visit them to purchase products directly?

LGB is now under the brand Marklin. Your best bet is to visit a local train store and see if they can point you in the right direction.

The status of LGB, especially in the US, is unclear. I really don't know what their current status is.

      Douglas Schultz I dunno dude.
I own a 1 year old Piko BR80 and a few LGB from the 90's and funny enough the LGB look and drive better in my opinion.
My piko starts to struggle at 5/6 wagons as my lgb has no trouble pulling them.
But the + side is that Piko is cheaper.

I ment today's LGB. My LGB from the 80's and 90's still is in tip top shape.
