- Waterford, a seaport in souteast Ireland, is the country's oldest city. It was founded by Vikings in 914 A.D. and parts of it's ancient core walls remain.
Population 60,079.
It is also the home of famous Waterford Crystal.

My grandfather a protestant from Portadown served his time as a butcher at Denny’s in Waterford before WW2 he went to his church in Tramore on Sundays. He also played soccer (football in the north) for Waterford FC in the 1930s.

I guess that will make it Ireland's one and only underground station, so I suppose we ought to welcome it for that alone! Even if one station is some way short of a metro system, and not to mention that it will be in the wrong city!!

Hi Don the sculpture of the chain and ship is showing Waterfords Ship building heritage from the 19th century , The wealthy Quaker families of Penrose, White and Malcomson all had large shipyards in Waterford city.

Just for information. Waterford started a trend with Waterford Walls. It’s now a feature in Cork & Limerick to name just two others. It seems some people like them.
