Thanks Jamie, this'll also help me with servicing the free spool button on one of my 7HT Mags. I was going to send it back to Daiwa, but think I'll give it a go myself now that you've shone a light onto the art of dismantling & reassembly. I'm still mulling the upgrade to s/s main gear......
Nice job. Thanks. I just ordered the pinion sleeve and Carbontax washers for my 7HT MAG ST, and this vid is going to help with the installation of those.
On another note. I'm sure that by following your vid that I can swap out the drag washers. Is there a shortcut to doing this? Do you know if swapping to the carbon washers will increase the maximum drag setting?
@@dennispenton6872 Why do you think I said you will need to swap out the brass main gear for the steel.... Brass will not take the extra drag you want to add.....!

Now all you need is the ManFish Stainless Steel main gear!
@@PimpMyReel Haha. YES. Soon.

Thanks for this Jamie, sent you an e-mail
As always clear and concise. Stainless on stainless would have a very high wear rate are they tempered or hardened in some way
No nearly as much as stainless steel on Brass....
do you have ceramic hybrid bearings for these reels thank you
no grease on the drive gear? ( I don't think its necessary except to quiet the gears.) I notice factory gears are slathered with heavy grease.
Yep, I use engine grease on gears, just did not want to get any on the table (wife would not be happy).
@@PimpMyReel I have two of these reels but can not take bearings out to clean them any advice please
