loved Ben's music since his early EP, however, I have found this album hard to get into at first. It took me until 2020 to fully appreciate it, now I play it on repeat constantly.
Saw him live at Sydney Opera House these songs are made to be in an indoor concert hall when it's all quite, dark with lights and visual. I was mind-blown MY GOD I really want to experience that again.
I agree most of his songs could be better experienced that way but on the other side I think they should be heard sitting on grass while in the in the shadow of the stage, with the sun setting on the horizon. I think the golden hour transitioning to the night specially fits songs like Nica Libres at Dusk, IFWWW, All is Now Harmed, River in Your Mouth, Towing the Line, The Fear and The Wolves . At least for me those would be the two perfect scenarios
as a low level sound person that is a really, really impressive mix. this is shall we say a non standard setup in terms of typical rock bands, and it must be at least 40 channels if not more. quite a bit to juggle and make room for everything. hell just rehearsing this band must be absolutely monumental in terms of the production you'd require. more than impressive
I agree I only liked a few songs at first….now total interpret it differently and love each song individually, Amazing how growth changes perception and different likes and dislikes. Keep evolving, love. :)❤

I somehow feel like Someone in the doorway is about the fans that Ben lost after every kingdom because you know many ppl liked the acoustic simple album then IFWWW was hard to understand “ personally I love it” and all the following albums of Ben as per equal but someone in the doorway is about that I guess cause sings his art and it’s not a selling product to him, he’s sharing his feelings and it’s like, fans this is me now, enjoy it… and the ones that we enjoy him we know how good he is, now after having CFTW 247 in my ears I’m ready for a new EP or an album why not? 🤪 but firstly I need a European CFTW tour please 🤞🏽✨

@@rod1404 he posted a picture of India and her husband on their wedding day and he's been with his current girlfriend for quite some time now. there were 3 years between his last gig and then the first one in 2018, in which he traveled alot and explored poetry on a more comitted level. he wrote NLAD and in Agatha's (his girlfriend) Song you can her him sing "And I said to me I would like to be Someone Kind over cavalier What have I done with my years?" obviously he's going through some thoughts. so nothing really points to that his current mood or music has anything to do with India's personal happiness like it was a bad thing and even if it did - it would obviously be extremely private. just listen to the goddamn music.

The recent music is the dark stuff Ben should of kept to himself . whilst brilliant it just doesn't work live ....we all known the reason for why people have gone there separate ways and the live shows are now quite painful to watch .
Who are you on about?, the Bond brothers went their separate ways at the start of the IFWWW era and that was only because of musical differences and they wanted to keep the happy folk feel, I personally think IFWWW was his best work and India isnt there because she was pregnant at the time and was becoming a mother while trying to balance her own musical projects like Tender Central, don’t think anything is that bad sounding.
Could not disagree more.. The dark songs don’t really work in a day time festival environment but they come across great in more intimate venues. I’m always at a loss at how Ben Howard fans of all people have this super restrictive artistic sentiment to where they get uneasy at “dark music”.. shit go listen to Ariana grande.. she might have something that fits your taste🤷🏽♂️

I love his music, but it sucks that he's sooo damn boring live-it's a snooze fest!
He does seem to have some hit or miss performances. Rock en Seine 2015 is a personal favourite of mine, particularly Rivers.
