I've seen a few comments about no salt added to the recipe, so thought I'd point out - Potatoes are salted when boiling. Probably lightly salted butter. Salt in the cheese. Salt in the fish. Salt in the mustard. That's enough salt for most people (especially when you're cooking for kids), but you can always add more when it's dished up if you like it saltier.
I have made this so many times now it has become our family recipe of sorts. Very flavourful even for an Indian palate! Family recipes are always special. Thanks for sharing x
Me : * watching this video * wait my name is Jools too..... mom do you know Jools Oliver? Mom: yea I named you after her Me: well freaking damnit... she’s amazing so I don’t mind
Thanks for the recipe! I made it this morning. Adorable. My wife and two of our boys (1.9 and 7 years old) absolutely loved it! We didn’t have any similar dish like that back in Ukraine.
Requires more pepper, nutmeg and herbs. I think it is way under-seasoned. I wouldn't cook the eggs with the potatoes but that's me. It's boiled anyway but I wouldn't do that ^^
Yummy. This is one of our family favourites. My son ALWAYS wants seconds. I don't add the spinach though. We add peas and sweetcorn to ours instead and serve with broccoli or other green veg. So good!
The recipe is pleasant; there are two things that make me wonder. Cook the eggs at the same time as the potatoes. Are the eggs washed before? The other thing is adding lemon to the sauce while there is cheese. A thousand excuses, I'm French.
Salut Michel, I was wondering the same. I made the recipe and didn't add lemon to the cheese based sauce due to a risk of curdling and added the zest instead to get the citrus-y flavour.
I made this recipe a while ago and it was fantastic! The mustard really amped up the cheesy-bechamel-sauce. I also added some chives, because I just love the combination. It's been a while, I will need to do this again soon!
Good recipe! But I would add a ton more salt, and spices (more pepper, perhaps a bit of smoked paprika, more nutmeg with the potatoes, and perhaps some terragon in the Bechamel).
She kept mentioning "cooking for children" then added her daughter is gluten free. Delicate stomachs will like this very lightly seasoned food and keep it down with out further issues. Probably.
No extra salt is needed really. Salted the potatoes when boiling, salt in the butter, salt in the cheese, salt in the fish, salt in the mustard. Salt can always be added when it's on the plate for those that like a little more.
Hey Jamie. I'm a Bárdur and I will finally go to England in this summer, and I hoped that in the time between 30 of July and 4 of August you would be at one of your resturants in London. It would be a dream come true to meet you personally, have a picture and sign my books and my father's books. Of course we will eat at one of your resturants while we are there, but it is one of my dreams to meet you. Give Gennaro all my love for helping me cooking the perfect risotto. Lots of love from the Faroe Islands :)
Most likely salted butter, and some cheeses are quite salty. Salt in the fish, probably used salt when boiling the potatoes too, salt in the mustard. What makes you think there's no salt in the recipe? :-P
she mentioned that its not really required to be added with the cheese and mustard already in there. she doesnt use much salt when shes cooking for kids. And i think its a good idea.
People have children, it's a consequence of sex. As for the dish, dishes like this were founded in feeding families, and that includes children. Every culture has these kinds of foods, in the US they were very popular during the depression. I'm just happy she isn't putting bell pepper in this. My mom for some reason had to put bell pepper in everything, and for most kids that ruins food.
Tbh this sounds gross to me but that's probably because I'm an American. Also it seems like the eggs would be grossly overdone if they are hard-boiled and then baked in the oven. I don't mean to hate, it's just egg+fish+pie just don't seem like they'd been good together.
Sorry but she dosnt seem comfortable or confident using her own pots'pans or knives. This woman surely must be able to cook..shes a mother AND Jamie Oliver's wife

Scratching a Teflon pan with a steel whisk is absolutely killing me!!
Right! 😓😖😨
it's hard anodized pan
And eggs in potatoes
I don't think that's a Teflon pan though.

"I really love pepper". *adds smallest amount of pepper possible*
I love comments like this! This made my day, I know it's weird, but it made me laughs
Jools did brilliantly. It must be intimidating to cook publicly when one is married to Jamie Oliver and this was great.
Damn you Jools. Making delicious food and getting Jamie to post it online just before I'm going to bed. Damn you talented UA-cam chefs 😭😭😭
Yes.. More Jools!! Love her segments on the JO channel.
The thumbnail and what's in the video are not the same

Don't forget she's cooking mostly for children here, adults can add more seasoning to their portions.
@@sue15cat That's a good point :)
Forgot you were the professional chef

Whats wrong with cheese and lemon all together ?
@@suk4ed Say it's clearly a matter of taste...
Washing the eggs would be nice but it's safe either way as it will boil for 8 minutes.

i think you know where the eggs come from,
there are sometimes feathers on it and other things ...

First dish I made from the Naked Chef series.

I love this recipe but I cringed so hard watching her use the metal whisk on the non stick surface 😂😂 just me? Ok lol

You can put breadcrumbs on top for more crunch! 😋🤗
Delicious recipe good job :)

I think Jamie would've added way more olive oil in the spuds
breaks my ears listening to her scraping a nice pan with a metal whisk
Nice job, jools

You NEVER use metal tools in a non stick pan! You'll wear it out in weeks instead of years.
美味しそう!
Yummy yummy thanks 😋😋😋😘😘👍👍
as a man I felt obligated to click on a video with the words "fish pie" in the title.

Super
Why are eggs boiled with potatoes?
I am good at cooking, so I want to make my own food. ^^

Tasty 😋 👍
You served it piping hot into bowls, before apparently putting the extremely hot food straight into your mouth, but from a plate. Hmmmmm.
Your daughter is gluten-free, you say?
only 1 out of the 5 kids tho
Heard about coeliac disease?
heard abot a joke?
Some people seemed to have missed the point.
Jools should have said 'gluten intolerant', not 'gluten free'.
lol
Adult portion? Maybe that's why I am overweight :(

WHY THE EGGS :(
Why not?
Eggs go well with fish in certain dishes, like this or kedgeree.
Some people are allergic to it sadly
Pra quem gosta de comida queimada
the dirty eggs with the potato is somewhat disgusting me
20 seconds in and I was immediately lost... A kilo?! 2 centimeters?! I CANT VISUALIZE THAT! American conversion in the subtitles would be a GOD SEND!
Eww egg in fish pie

The "posh" name the roux...
Nah mate, that's just what it's called...
Nothing posh about a bechamel or a roux.
