      @howardmillard3198 3 роки тому

      Appreciate you are asking Joe....but my wife & I recently debated X3/X1 v Q3/Q5...one thing I will say is that a new Audi interior makes a mockery of the BMW system, especially the virtual cockpit, BMW are a couple of years behind. However, I am a big fan of the Idrive System in BMW. But the Virtual cockpit really sets a difference. HK v BO sound system...margin differences. But Joe is the expert, but seeing as the car was going to me my wife's car, the interior / satnav was the big difference. X1 feels like an old 118d. X3 also a bit lacking.

    Spot on Joe re the 4-pot turbo probably two cylinders short for a weighty SUV, even though on paper 250bhp+ seems excessive for everyday family transport. Heard your mate RBR saying recently that high-output turbo 4s won’t make the next 2026 emissions regs and manufactures will have to go back to lower-tuned but larger V6s. Porsche told him that was why V8 now back in the Cayennes and 6 cylinders back in Boxsters...

    We just ordered an X3 over the Q5. The main reason was one Audi dealership acted surprised when we turned up for a test drive that I had arranged in advance, and even confirmed on the phone the day before. Then they would not let both my wife and I go on the test drive. I then contacted another dealer who could not get hold of a Q5 for a test drive. BMW by contrast were totally professional and gave us an X3 for an entire afternoon, allowing me to take it home and get my kids to test the leg room etc. Shame that the Q5 disqualified itself due to poor customer service, but it undermined my confidence completely.

  • @garysimpson3900
    @garysimpson3900 3 роки тому +1

    Always thought the Q5's were a V6 engine being the top of the specification cars. a 4 cylinder sounds a backward step. I assume the gearbox changes "up" at the red line to protect the engine rather than use a "rev limiter"/fuel cut off.

    • @johnfranklin6394
      @johnfranklin6394 3 роки тому

      The pre-facelift even came with a 150ps 4 cyclinder diesel. Basically the same engine that's in my wife's VW Touran, but in a heavier quattro car. The facelift base diesel is a 200ps 4 cylinder with more torque, so likely far better to drive.

      Not sure about that Malph - I tested a Q3 in 2019 and wouldn’t say that it had any more space than a regular Golf/A3. Certainly you wouldn’t fit two x 6ft+ behind each other. Your point does hold true with BMW SUVs though: apart from a 10% smaller boot, the X1 is every bit as spacious as the X3; due to the transverse engine mount in X1.

It’s always easy to be beguiled by an individual colour, but a colour a car doesn’t make! One of the things I find disappointing with the Audis is that they ALWAYS have black interiors, and I just hate black. I’d much prefer a contrast colour. With that green what about a saddle tan or even red? Audi just seems unimaginative in this way, but BMW is better

      I think manufacturers have started to take advantage of the fact most people pay monthly now, sneaking in those few extra £££'s

      Finance has actually made cars far more affordable. If you are talking about buying a car outright then maybe, but as Joe said, who buys a car outright these days? It’s really only cheaper used cars or perhaps millionaires buying new cars.

      @@SWLB Mark Twain famously said... “Never believe what you read on the Internet” Joe is not a car salesman remember. My own brother in law works for a car leasing company and their most popular lease vehicle at the moment is the new Mercedes A class. Biggest problem they’ve been having with personal leasing is people taking out the deals with the lowest mileage plans of 6000 p.a to keep monthly cost to a minimum. Owners have then done more than double that in the first year. Then the contract gets amended, hit with a bill and after the first year the lease becomes too expensive and then it’s a world of pain for both parties

      Audi is a luxury car brand, it is not for an average income people, especially this segment. Skoda, VW, Renault etc are brands that are much more affordable. People mentioning financing the car, if it isn’t a leasing, remember - there is depreciation, it will cost you A LOT for a new luxury car

      @@oleg274 I disagree, Audi’s are as common as Renaults and Fords in the UK. I owned my first Audi when I wouldn’t have been on more that £25k a year.

      putting it there prompts it to be right in your eyeline. i agree like mercedes and bmw do as well it looks like an afterthought but honestly id rather just glance over slightly than look down and take my eyes of the road.

    • @johnfranklin6394
      @johnfranklin6394 3 роки тому +1

      We are a bit mixed up in the UK. Things like a person's height are typically expressed in feet and inches. A person's weight will be expressed in stones and pounds. However, a car's weight will be in kilograms, and its length in metres as that's something we look up on the manufacturer's website. All very confusing.

    Another honest review Joe the car is very similar in appearance to a lot of S U Vs and boy are there a lot of S U Vs about!!! Very grey to black inside like a lot of others, and like you say it needs the panoramic glass roof or you might think you were driving a darkened room!!! Nevertheless green is my favourite colour so good choice and I also think that people who buy cars like this will be happy enough with it they generally don,t look for really high performance of course I am probably quite wrong!!! 👍👍👍😄😄😄😄
