Hi, I’m looking to do this to my 1990 1.3, would you recommended any particular rev counter? Most common ones I can source are from a GTI. Is there any videos I can watch to see how it’s done? Thanks.
First video i stumbled while searching for answers. After years and years owning one Golf 2 1992 year, yes 92, I finally found out it was Pasadena model (German) and they had rev instead of clock I have now. I found one GTD dashboard but before I start doing mess I need to ask, WHAT TO CHECK IF IT REALLY IS COMPATIBLE? How can I be sure that rev dash will work instead of clock dash?
As long as the number of plugs from the replacement cluster matches yours you don't need to do any wiring at all, it plugs straight in. Tach will still work. If it's a 1990,you need a single plug cluster from any 90-92 MK2 Old pre 90clocks =2, new post 90 clocks=1
@@drcoland thank you so much! So it looks like the car was heavily modified. I’ll send a message next week when i get home (if i find something unusual). THX!!
hi there, i hope someone can help me. i have a 1.6 driver and i got the gti clocks with rev counter, as mine is clocks, both ce2 as one plug but rev counter didn’t work… any clues?
heyy i have done what i told you around a year ago, i bought a golf mk2 1.3 1990 manual 5speed, its preety quick not gonna lie its has its problems, my speedo isnt working everything works apart from speedo and temp gauge can you tell me what to check?
@@drcoland Yeeee needle all the way to the left, nop nothing flashing, i overheated it like a few weeks ago because i overfilled the Cooling liquid an ye it overheated no lamp no needle movement, only thing working on the panel is Clock, fuelgauge and all the lamps oh ye the lamp is working for it only on startup, flashes
The video is showing u diffrence between dashboard with clock and with rev counter. Two different cars in this video. On the one with rev counter I need replace digital clock so I may do a video about it in near future and video how to remove dasboard

Remove the speedo cable from the gear box and turn the internal cable one way or the other quite fast with someone inside checking if the speedo works
Temp gauge situation:
Is the needle all the way to the left?
Is the light on the gauge flashing?
