I replaced both cable, pinion(speedo plastic gear), cluster is tested, and transmission has been replaced with the one from a 121 000 km Golf Mk2. Today my speedometer started jumping before it eventually died. I honestly don't know what could be the issue as everything was new and transmission was serviced. At this point I think I'll just TD or TDI swap it if I don't fix the issue. P.S. Either that, or I'll sell the car, even tho it's mid way into the build. Sick of little things, to be honest.
Problem is that the speedo cable doesn't just slide out after unbolting it. Do I have to have it in a certain gear or can I just brute force try to yank it out, what's the best approach? Don't want to break anything by accident
Thanks mate! Been struggling with mine for a while, this sorted it right out!
Thank you so much! Trying to find someone that explains all parts of the speedo

Love your videos, thinking about buying a MK2 as had one in the late 1990’s.
Learned a lot
how to fix when rpm doesn't work?
Problem with either alternator ''W'' terminal, or problem with RPM motor. Could also be a loose connection or corroded wiring.
