That was a great video! I have been stuck with a streak of 0-3 losses after reaching platinum on Arena and this video, along with a few helpful tips on Reddit, helped me draft a much better deck with which I finished 6-3. The detailed review of the draft, with your thoughts on each possible picks where very helpful!
Hi, very nice Video. Showing the Deck at the end is great . I dont Like the "Double taking" of the wheeling cards. The immolator and dragontamer should each be 1 less.
Thanks. And fair enough. I count them since they'd be there if we were sitting at a larger draft pod for example, but I definitely understand the reasoning for not counting them as they technically can't be there in normal 8 person pods. We can certainly replace them with some of our other picks though. In particular id probably go with the Axgard Cavalry and a Billowing Shriekmass.
Technically you can't even consider the second deck a real one not only for the "double takes" but because every single pick you make influences what the other 7 players in the pod will choose. Think butterfly effect or something like that. That said I agree with the principles Jeremy applies in his deck drafting and building heuristic
Yep! The only thing I'd like to add to @1NSANEx's comment, because not all who read it will realize this, is that if we were really in Nizzahon's seat doing the draft, we'd actually be much more likely to end up with an even stronger final deck than we did. Nizzahon is simultaneously cutting green and white from his pod, discouraging them from going into those colors, and passing black and red signals, encouraging them to take those colors. We'd be much more likely to see powerful black and red cards come to our seat in our draft that we didn't see with Nizzahon's draft.
Very great video, I will watch this video serveal times as color system. Recently I been stumble my way on my draft, have win have loss. But the draft you are doing so nature, like the card flow to you. As for me I will prioritize removal spell. Because I don't know if I will get them in the next pack. Maybe this is why my deck not so strong. And I still don't know when to pick up the six spell, because you do it so naturally, easily in the first pack to get two high mana creatures. But my previous knowledge told me that I should take the low-cost creatures first, because they are easy to get into any card group. Perhaps more practice will solve my puzzle.
Thanks. I know you've had trouble deciding when to take 2-drops, topend, and removal. So I'll try to be more prescriptive in this comment. Try beginning with the end in mind. You want roughly 6-8 2-drops, 3-5 topend, 4-6 removal by the end of your draft. In Pack 1, I'd advise not to favor anything in particular. Just take the best card (amongst the colors with high tallies) as rated on limitedgrades.com. Assess where you are at end of Pack 1. If you don't have at least 2 2-drops, prioritize that. If you don't have at least 1 topend, prioritize that. If you don't have at least 2 removal, prioritize that. Reassess again after Pack 2, and double those numbers. I think trying that will help you out. Let me know!
Reeally love your videos! I feel like they articulate things that I have been trying to extract from other Videos for a long time. Suddenly everything makes so much more sense! 😅 You keep saying "I'll add 2 to blue/x/y". Could you point me to the video, in which you explain what you are counting? Playables? Cards above C+? Thanks a million. In case you ever make sort of a cheat sheet as a printable pdf, that would be huge. I'd even pay a couple of bucks for that. I've been trying to extract knowledge from your and other videos and the limited ressources podcast to figure out and formulate a pinpointed guideline for ever particulare phase of the draft. Pack one. Picks 1-x: ... Picks x-z: Pay attention to y And so for. I dont only want that to give myself a guideline, but to teach others how to draft properly. But so far I don't have the feeling I have grasped enough to be satisfied with my results of a printout. 😏
Thanks! We love hearing how our videos are helping players! The videos that explain what I'm counting are: 1. Deep Dive on the Color Tallying Sytem: ua-cam.com/video/pLQZxBCqTqI/v-deo.html 2. Where we 1st review Color Tallying: ua-cam.com/video/KIitE-gYjEU/v-deo.html After we grow more, we might consider having a Patreon for Discord, Tier List, and Cheat Sheet access. But we're currently putting all our available free time into generating more videos and growing our subscriber count. But hearing what other forms of value we can provide is helpful for our future!
@@ManaTutorMTGDraft Thanks a lot for answering so quickly. I totally understand your priorities right now and wish you the best of luck growing your followers!
We do tend to review the drafts that went poorly as it highlights where the draft could improve, so we all can improve. That said, please note we believe Nizzahon is a good drafter and he was just trying things out in his very first Foundations draft. I bet he'd change this draft up if he had another chance at it, and I can certainly say I'm not immune to having a trainwreck draft myself even if I try to minimize them!
got a new sub. keep it up dude
This channel is hands down the best draft content on yt. I'm rooting for your growth

love these kind of videos, really helps me get better with drafting, keep up the great work
Your videos are absolute fire, exactly the sorts of guides I’ve been looking for as I move into more limited play. Keep up the great work!

To be frank, the guy getting reviewed had an absolute trainwreck of a draft!
