Exactly. I just wish we had mysterious exotic quests instead of these random seasonal activity. Like just remember the mystery around Izinagi or the last word or thorn. Their quests were so fun and interesting. But these missions are just recycled slop. Yes they can be good, but they dont have the same feeling as the actual quests
Id love to see them go back to the secret exotic mission formula. Lets go back to one random daily mission on a Thursday having a secret varient or a secret objective in patrol
But I also have to say that the "Whisper Exo Mission" is my personal favorite. But exo missions can be exploited much more... I'm thinking here of core mechanics that only exist in such missions and nowhere else in the game, which, for my sake, may also only be very specific, previously UNKNOWN adds in these respective missions. I also wouldn't mind an exo-mission where, when I enter it, I'm simply gripped by fear and ONLY have to fight my way through in a certain amount of time, WITHOUT puzzles or anything. Just over the top ungodly strong enemies that will oneshot you if you're not careful and you just have to fight your way through. We still have so many world settings from back then that are no longer used in the game because they're all rotting away in the miserable content vault.... They could also be used for new exo missions. But here I'm thinking more of merging the respective environment types... I don't know, maybe an exo mission in the Leviathan design setting mixed with the tech from the Operation:Seraph Shield mission, or the Whisper mission mixed with the setting of the Dreaming City and that all these maps are then reshaped and you just have to make new stuff to get through the missions. Also, ALL exo missions need more OPTIONAL loot, that if you complete the mission, more special loot drops in the form of rare cosmetics (AND GOOD-looking!!!!) or more ghost shells, what do I know... emblems etc. Dude... I'm just thinking of possibilities, if we were to HOPEFULLY EVER get housing, that each exo mission could just drop specific items for housing possibilities, in that particular setting and architecture of that particular exo mission... I could go on all day with ideas like this...
What actually pissed me off was that THIS was the mission they chose to be 1st. I solo this game 99% of the time, and having something like this in the beginning of the act means that I have to complete something 'difficult' before I can progress & unlock the next fieldwork, etc.The main thing about it was time. Gotta do it all in 1 run. NVM regular life stuffs maybe distracting you.... ooops sent back to orbit > Start Over.
This mission is very mild on difficulty, I solo’d it easily , you can def do it on fireteam finder with no mic necessary, I feel u I rather solo things buh u don’t need a mic it’s really easy
From doing this on solo expert hunter I’d say this is a good difficulty - not that hard and pretty fun actually, especially when doing all the catalysts at once was satisfying at the end to get all 4🔥
Great video👍🏾. I truly wish Bungie would put mystery and surprise back into these exotic missions. I remember (many times) waking up to find the community found some mission/puzzle that the community would band together and work through. We NEED that again! Exciting times back then.
The problem is if a new exotic ISN'T sandbox breaking good, then there's no real point in it existing since we have so much great stuff already. It just gets lost in the dozens and dozens of other exotics we have that are equal to or better than it. This is less an issue with the exotic itself and moreso an issue with the state of a game in its 7th year and a franchise in its 10th.
This mission is definitely going to grow on people. It was short, fast paced, some exploration, fun boss fights and I honestly think it was more waaay more fun than Encore, I kinda didn’t like Encore. But this one was a solid 7/10 for me, could’ve been more better for sure but it was still solid to me.
Whisper and zero hour were easily the best exotic missions. Good enemy and boss encounter, some solid jumping puzzles, phenomenal music, fantastic settings and of course great weapons for the rewards. Every other exotic mission since has been sub par.
I liked it because they are tieing the story and the mission it’s the season now the exotic missions don’t feel out of place but I’m happy this is an easy solo mission compared to the last couple of exotic missions it’s much better then bungie don’t make these super difficult so everyone can enjoy them it was good fun and nice to have the barons back new shotgun is pretty powerful also
How sick would it be if they dropped an exotic mission that gave you another exotic a couple of weeks down the line and the community had to band together and figure out how to unlock it. It could be an armor piece like aeons that pairs with a weapon. They have so much potential so much opportunity and year after year it’s squandered it’s so frustrating to watch.
First run took my time. When I found out I had to do it another 2 times just speed blitz it. Will I play it again? For the catalysts but thats really about it. Didn't find it difficult but didn't really find it groundbreaking either
Yup 100% I’ve been playing D1 and getting an exotic bounty from handing in normal bounties is the best feeling ever. Instead of running it a kiosk and spamming interact to pick up the missions. Bungie have got so pathetic
For me Zero Hour will always be the best Exotic mission. Whisper of the worm is also very memorable, but the mission itself does feel dated but it's still very good. what I miss mostly about those 2 missions was the way to enter them and how they felt like an actual secret where it was pure excitement discovering them. Exotic missions today are also very good in terms of quality but them being seasonal/episodic missions makes it lose a lot of the charm. Whisper you had to do stuff on IO, and with Zero Hour is was basically a long and confusing puzzle where you had to help Mithrax and decode a lot of stuff. My least favourite is probably Vox obscura.
I think it's pretty good. It's veryt farmable for materials too. Encore was way too long. Nobody playing that mission after we were done with it. I do get what people said about a secret exotic mission like in Season of the Deep. That would have been really cool as well and this certainly had the potential.
They can't do that anymore though because they gutted patrol spaces and we ain't ever seeing them return to their former glory, season of the arrivals was the last hurrah for anything interesting being done with the open world and after sunsetting patrol spaces are dead.
i actually felt this as a normal campaign mission done it in like 35-ish minutes solo without much effort... I don't mean it was bad, i just say that was a little bit too overall easy
Been playing since D1 and I mean this with my whole heart.....EVERY ACTIVITY DOES NOT NEED TO BE DIFFICULT LOL. If it's a good time with friends or alone it's a win. Bungie can't win right now because the community is fractured so even if this was a 10 people would still complain lol. Let's just hope the content for Apollo is on a NEW level and not just difficult.
I'd say zero hour and presage are both easily better than the whisper(which is still better than Avalon/coz obscura missions imo). Tbh I think Kell's fall might be top 3 for me but I'll admit I'm a huge fan of vampires/dracula and killing the barons was nostalgic for me Dual destiny is pretty cool too
It was a 4 for mediocre for me. I guess bungie have exhausted all they can do with the minimal employees they have working on destiny because it’s lackluster, sorry but that’s my opinion
I think you missed on 2 points....if you did a damage test you will see it's sooooooo meta and the theme i think it was unique with the organ you really felt like you were in a multi dimension dungeon for a vampire. . Everything else is agree on lol
They don’t feel as exciting bc we know exactly when to expect them rather than them being a cool discover like back in the day when you had to kill a boss to spawn a portal after a public event on Io. Also you shouldn’t be able to just meander through one of these and complete it without even figuring out the mechanic. The “mechanics” of this mission is literally just “kill ads” which is really lame
Definitely will be a dead three weeks unfortunately, for me at least. Already hit Rank 200 on the seasonal pass. Hopefully they put out that Chatterwhite mission so I can keep playing this month.
Haters gonna hate whatever. Im enjoying these missions you run a few times per season. Looking forward to the Dreadnaut next season. Its fine its more Destiny.
I think the uniqueness, the difficulty etc all match the exotic itself. Why put 10/10 effort on the rest of it all, if you only get a weapon that 5/10. At least for the players, the effort to complete the mission, is not in vein.
Reading comments on this channel, i really think some of you really just want to make comments and haven't either test the weapon out. It does pretty good dmg in a dps setting, and will be good for pve content. But i do understand most of yall now only live to hate destiny
your review is barely a 3/10. You basically just complained...nostalgia and then difficulty. Look at me, I am playing this game since forever and this content is so easy for me, so it must be bad.
Lots of L takes here in my opinion. First off you spend most of the video comparing the mission to whisper and zero hour when it’s not really that type of mission. I don’t consider timed exotic missions to be the same as exotic missions without timers where you do more exploring and puzzles. Especially when one is meant to be enjoyed separately and one is a key part of a seasonal story with months of buildup. This is a good mission and I’m very happy that they finally brought back the scorned barons. Secondly it’s common sense by now that when bungie releases a mission that could be done solo or with 3 players, it’s much easier with a fireteam. Seriously everybody knows this. Tbf they probably should’ve added limited res tokens but still, idk why you act SO surprised that your team ran through it. I feel like your being very negative because the the alternative might be controversial
Smh lucky ur criticism is directly tied behind the nostalgia of never having an exotic mission before when it was first introduced like with the whisper mission. To be honest when you play the whisper mission now it’s an absolute joke. You’re too stuck in the past bro and need to move on. There are plenty of great exotic missions since whisper. On the flip side bungie can’t one up every exotic mission to be better than the last. It’s just impossible…you will resonate with some exotic missions and some you won’t. To give this a 5/10 is nuts this is perfect for speed running especially when they want to tie a material behind it to finish crafting tonics like the reflective flakes. So this was def a good exotic mission…to me anyway and the exotic is OP in PVE.
I dunno man, if you think whisper is a good measure, you're tripping. Zero hour is way better than whisper. Duo destiny is amazing. I think most are better than whisper. Shooting taken bubbles is annoying as all hell. It's a no from me dawg. You got rose colored glasses with whisper.
Yeah zero is so friken cool and I also really like seraph shield how it had mechanics from the raid and come on NOTHING is cooler than that rocket pod that brings u up the space station just chiefs kiss 😂😂🎉
I think whisper is so special to a lot of people because of the fact that it was a ‘secret’ mission that was there for you to find in game, the first of its kind, and it felt unique because it felt like it was more parkour focussed, as well as the fact it was in a completely unseen area of the game. At the time, whisper was also considered super powerful because there weren’t many weapons like it, and the lore implications of it being xol’s reincarnation is dope. I think by the time zero hour rolled around, the formula had been perfected and it came out as a much more refined, action packed experience… but I don’t think zero hour could’ve been as good without the success of the whisper. Overall zero hour is defo better overall, but whisper has nostalgia value and was rlly well designed compared to the rest of the game at the time
Yeah I can only assume he's talking about the feeling when the mission actually dropped. It's a shadow of itself today. Trying to kill three bosses when it dropped solo in time was hard .
@@roryy6777 I totally agree. I remember camping out on IO hunting taken to open the portal. And trying to complete the green room before the shortcut was found. Such a great time

I love how there is no timer, on either difficulty.
They had different perks on the gun in reveal and changed it in the day it dropped. It was supposed to regenerate ammo
That would have made the weapon actually feel good. And here we are, still stuck with a terrible ammo economy.
Nah I think they just did the patented bungie maneuver where a perk had the most misleading and inaccurate description ever
But I also have to say that the "Whisper Exo Mission" is my personal favorite.
