    You totally missed the first lego stud shooter.... the Pirate Cannon from 1989. Sold with only the first wave of the black sea baracuda in 1989. Then outlawed in the US as a choaking hazzard. It brought the change of holes in 1x1 heads and 1x1 round bricks for breathing if a child swallowed it. Lego redesigned the Cannon as a 1 piece non firing. The shooting Cannon was sold in Europe as an accessory pack.

      @@janbfiala there was an European accessory pack, I don't remember the number, of 2 shooting cannons, with the base and wheels (no rubber tires) and a bunch of 1x1 round bricks. Lego created a plastic tube in place of the spring making it non shooting, to comply with US child safety laws, then redesigned the Cannon piece into a 1 piece non firing version for US sets. I do not know if Europe got shooting / non-shooting cannons in which sets. US child safety laws were changed about spring loaded toys after a few children got hurt and I think 1 or 2 or a few died. Big safety issue.

    Honestly, a y wing bomber using flick fire for the bombs and spring loaded guns for the front, and a stud shooter for the turret just sounds amazing, am I the only one who sees the obvious nature of using these projectiles like this?

  • @mutanttepig4759
    @mutanttepig4759 2 роки тому +1

    Honestly for the flick fire bricks I think that both have their uses. For the more recent ones those can simulate laser fire while the other type of flick fire bricks are more for physical projectiles. They should make it so that some sets use the older version(perhaps retooled for modern sets) and for other sets(primarily star wars and sci-fi sets) they use the newer kind.

  • @drivernephi3929

    Never really had a preference for any type of projectile, because when I was done building a set I would just imagine the projectiles and their explosions when playing, I would really use the projectiles because I always feared I would lose them, but in my opinion spring loaded work a little better

    i've been out of the lego game for so long that it absolutely blew my mind when i heard about/saw the 2018 miniature legs. also i much prefer the old blaster as they actually look like a weapon and not a weird tube. Off the top of my head... I seem to remember there being a sort of disc-launcher in, at the very least, one or two of the Mars Mission sets. It was a cylindrical container with a slot at the bottom and a plastic tab on the side that could be pulled back and released to flick the discs out
    I also remember Bionicles having a bunch of cool projectile launchers. From my childhood I remember only two (unless you wanna count the let-it-rip style propeller launchers) -- there was an elastic-powered ball launcher for one line and a mechanical 6-shooter with custom darts for another.

    I remember when they came out with stud shooters. I always thought they were ugly and awkward. The stud rotary cannon is cool, but I would have preferred one that shoots cones, and one that wasn’t so awkward to load. Still cool.
    As for the flick fire, I liked it, and when they came out with spring loaders I had mixed feelings. On the one hand they really worked with Star Wars sets, but on the other they have a sort of hair trigger some times, and are sometimes hard to load because of that
