Just stumbled upon this video and I’m going to attempt to shave the tailgate handle on my Silverado and need some info on popper kits first. You earned a sub off of this my friend thank you for the information
You need a relay in there so your switch does not burn up. That popper pulls a lot of current. Good luck. You can find some videos on here on how to wire the relay up.
Yeah thanks, I do have relays will making the video I only installed the inside solenoid and door pull, when I get back to the jeep build I will install the full circuit.
Have you had any problems with the poppers popping when they feel like it at first it was the cheap relays so I put good ones but still driver one pops when it feels like popping but pass always works
To be honest I haven't used my poppers thats much, but I have installed poppers for trunks and hoods before, and I tend to dismantle the popper and lubricate with lithium grease. Helps keep moisture out and keep shaft from sticking.
@@TheInkhousecustoms because I think that is the problem cuz if I use it back to back it’s fine but once I let it sit for a few mins it gets stuck and I can hear the relay kicking just doesn’t want to pull hard enough but the truck had even smaller poppers before so I’m not 100% sure but I feel like tht might be it
You can put it on the shaft or you can open it, the positive terminal is soldered on so you will need to get it off in order to open the casing. Once you can get lub to the shaft should be good.
Hey bro, thank you for the video awesome work. What software are you using for your 3d modeling, I've been thinking about designing some pieces I need and this would be a great way to do it
This seems like alot. I already have keyless entry. Can i just install the popers and puller to my current system? Seems like you installed the cable puller but didnt install the actual door * poper* that opens it for you so you dont have to pull the door when pressing the button
The keyless entry just controls your door lock actuator, if somehow you can tie into that it could possibly work. I didn't go into installing the full system, as I should have dedicated a full video to it.. but it ending up being alot of other steps I needed to take before continuing the install. Also the door pushers I wouldn't be installing, because the popper is connected to a soft touch pad in the outside door panels.
@The Ink house customs do you still have the van? How's the reliability been with the system? . Anything you might change or do differently next time? How does this affect the door locking mechanism itself? Are you not able to lock your doors anymore... sorry for all the queations. I'm just trying to understand how this system functions and what it will control or not control
@Richard Desimone is a jeep grand cherokee, The system is reliable. The way it setup is when to doors lock it deactivates the outer door switch. From the inside the door handles operate normally, for safety purposes. One thing I'm happy about is getting rid of those noisy rods and replacing them with cable.

@rabbitbeast I use Blender for all my modleing. I find it easier for me since I know the program, and it's free.

Can u ever put them back to normal
The way I did them yes, but the way the build is I wouldn't plan on it.
What was the name of the kit you used?
