- Angelo Cooper, class of 2023, leads the Aggie War Hymn at Saturday's Midnight Yell before the Baylor game. Though not a current student at Texas A&M, Cooper has helped lead yells at basketball games and has marched with the Corps of Cadets at Review.

I actually lived in Athens Texas in the 90's. Great Place! This New York City boy loved it - seriously. Nicest people around.
@traderjiggs Your point? For example, we still say Gig 'Em even though we no longer play TCU. It's about history and ours will never change. So yes, we'll continue to sing it because 100+ years worth of history can't be discounted and forgotten. Would you have them remove us from their fight song as well? I could sit here and find PLENTY of examples where conferences have altered, causing rivalries to be affected, yet traditions stay strong. Please don't be THAT guy and ruin a great video.

what are you talking about ? the war hymn is about saying goodbye to texas university.....and that is exactly what A&M is saying in their move to the SEC to TU. GOODBYE ! that is why it will be great that the war hymn is played even after its been over 10 years since playing TU.

@ising4you19 Not really, my parents, grandparents, and sister are all A&M students, I go to A&M camps consistently and I stick with the team through good and bad, and I'm sure this kid is similar. Every team has T-Shirt fans. Additionally, a T-Shirt fan is one who supports whatever team is currently doing well, not someone who supports a team to a college they didn't go to.

Class of '89; die hard Aggie for life here. Most of the rooms of my house have maroon carpet with cream accents. I was a bonfire red pot my junior and senior year, and I hold VERY DEAR our traditions.
However
Now that we have left that morbidly obese, inbred Texas stepchild behind to rot in the PIG 12, I think it's high time that we change the words to our fight song so that it truly conveys our
singular excellence and our future. Time for a new tradition.

I'm an Ohioan so I know nothing about TAMU but I like learning about cool college traditions but what is a yell leader and what do they do and what are these weird moves they're doing?
So a yell leader is our version of cheer leaders that started back Ole Army ( long time ago) and the movements like at the beginning let everyone know what yell (cheer ) we'll be doing. Later when they move them up and down it's to keep the cadence for those singing

KU decided to remove references to MU, but then again they don't have the level of obsession that Agriculture has for Tx. You don't feel odd defeating Nebraska then celebrating by singing an entire song dedicated to UT?
The kid did a good job....but if a university's fight song completely defines itself in terms of its rival, they have already lost. Maybe the kid will have the academics and resume to get into a better school? Maybe even The University of Texas? A&M is a good fallback school if he fails to enter one of the better universities in the state.
