Italy is on my bucket list. It has been since I was in college some 30 years ago when I took a year and a half of Italian. I know I have forgotten most of what I learned of Italian. I'm sure it will come flooding back to me when if ever I get to Italy. You are an inspiration.
Lovely to see people enjoying the city, playing cards, enjoying fresh squeezed lemon juice, browsing book stores sipping coffee, the music all joy for ones soul. I am looking forward to my break in Netherlands and UK in April travelling from UK. Need to nourish my soul after a busy year working in health. Enjoy your time. Love looking at your adventures.
Thanks Helen. It does seem to be a well used city - all the big spaces from when the city was so prosperous, slightly crumpled now but full of footballing children and pastry eating adults
I think it’s very interesting what you are doing for yourself - in Naples, Italy. Truly the country is a wonderful place - there is so much to feast on - not just food but art, sculpture, paintings, architecture, a simple way of life. I think I understood what the Renaissance was all about only when I visited Italy. Do enjoy yourself and show us what you are seeing and experiencing. I look forward to watching your videos.
Thanks Sunita. It’s a lovely way of life I think - yesterday I came across a man sitting on a pavement mending fishing nets - he had his net tied to a lamp post for tension.
I live in New Zealand and don't like flying so will never get to any European countries to see the markets and history so thanks for the glimpse. I also need to sort myself to get on top of my health (Covid health lingering since February and now RSV) as well as Winter blues and it's very easy to sink into "I'll do it tomorrow' but Spring is showing little signs so I will push myself as you are doing. Thank you for the nudge, time to lecture myself and set a simple regime of exercise. Take care =-)
Thanks Lorraine. I found that making the small changes in Italy made such a difference- it started a routine of putting myself first when sorting my days and a constant reminder to myself that I have a responsibility to look after myself as best I can. COVID lingers so long. Sending love. J xx
Now this hoarder in Ireland is binge watching your videos! I did something similar in autumn of 2019, travelling through Italy, I spent some days at Lago Maggiore, visiting two dear friends from younger days in stunning Liguria and in Toscana. Thank you for another inspiration.
What a beautiful city! You have captured the atmosphere so well. Enjoy your time there. Rest & recover. Thank you so much for sharing your gorgeous films. ❤
You look so happy and relaxed. It’s a joy to see you taking it all in your stride. And I love your new haircut - the fringe really suits you. The videos you are making are fabulous. It feels as though we are there with you. I’m starting to check in to UA-cam to see if there has been a new posting. Enjoy the remainder of your first week. Hopefully a good amount of sleep will reap rewards for you over the coming weeks. 😎
The film gives a real feel of Naples with the sights and sounds you have captured so well. What an excellent idea to have time to rest and recover with good food from these wonderful market stalls (wish we had them in Scotland) and lots of lovely interesting walks. Don’t put pressure on yourself to try to complete to do lists. I hope the weather stays dry and sunny for you and you come back home rested and refreshed. Enjoy (especially the ice cream )and thanks for taking time to share your videos. ☀️🚶♀️💤🌺xx
Thank you so much for watching Catherine and for leaving a lovely comment. The market stalls are wonderful, a joy for the senses even if you don’t need your buy. Today however I need some oranges!
Oh it looks wonderful! Those veggie stalls are truly enviable - for the variety and the lack of plastic too. Life very often feels like snakes and ladders, but I guess self care is a way of helping the ladders feel shorter! xx
Thank you for another wonderful film Jane, it is lovely to see you having such a positive experience and I look forward to seeing your next adventure. ❤
It’s a really beautiful city - phenomenally wealthy until the unification of Italy so there are some amazing buildings that were palaces and are now flats or offices or museums. And all around that is a slightly chaotic ‘making do’ vibe of stands and stalls and lots and lots of laundry.
Really enjoyed your film of Naples. I love the idea of having time to immerse myself in a different city as an inhabitant for a short while, rather than simply as a tourist.
Thank you. I’ve certainly found it really different having a ‘neighbourhood’ rather than heading off in different directions to see all the tourist sites. X
I think you have done the right thing by taking time for yourself and deciding to leave the projects. I always feel that I have been lazy if I have a day of doing nothing as it feels like a waste but I am trying to take time to relax as I find I am so much more productive when I do. Ice cream should be the only item on the to do list - enjoy!
It looks absolutely wonderful Jane. I can see why you love it there. I'm very tempted to go there myself - and I'd love to think I could be as brave as you and do it alone one day. X
So lovely to walk the streets of Naples with you Jane. I have been to Italy many times, never Naples, but I am definitely going now and might need to ask you for contact details to rent your lovely apartment. xx
Just message me and I’ll be glad to pass them on. I would certainly recommend the area (Chiaia) as it’s near the sea but still walkable into the old town.

Thank you for sharing, I had the same, etc we need to share so people don’t feel alone, thank you
Thank you. I think it’s exactly that. X
Oh I did chuckle about your tale of getting the one day that the museum was closed 😂

This is the story of my life too, Jane.

I’m glad that you enjoyed it Shonaid x
I have never thought of going to Naples before watching your videos, I am really enjoying it. I also think your holiday sounds perfect

Thank you. Yes I think that too. I am really enjoying making videos and writing for The Studio Club in between some serious rest. X

Thanks Kate. Naples is a really beautiful and vibrant place and very friendly. X
