The amount of hours you put into this are ridiculous and the quality of the content shows it. I've never been so proud to be a subscriber for a UA-camr. Thank you, Rusty, for being the GOAT
There are very few people on this platform with the drive to create and release an entire documentary. Not a 30-40 minute discussion piece, but a true documentary. Your channel is criminally underrated, and I think I speak for everyone when I say that the work you’re doing is appreciated in this community.
@@Armenian_King True...great points by the way...MJ stat line in that "86 playoff series was 43.7 ppg 6.3 rpg 5.7 apg 2.3 spg 1.3 blks and that was with double and triple teams they( the '86 Celtics won) but they couldn't stop MJ... then again back then who could.
If MJ didn't break his foot or retire for 1 year and a half and then retired for 4 or 5 years he probably would have been the All Time Leading Scorer or at least 2nd passing Karl Malone. But missing Lakers and Spurs fighting for a title every year holding my breath and gasping every play down the court. Injuries and age will not let any other dynasties happen, I don't count Warriors-Cavs rivalry bc it was kinda 1-sided
@@gogobrazy9333 I feel that Duncan's also a reserved individual, who doesn't want the attention of GOAT talks, not that he'd be upset about it, it's just not important to him, so long as San Antonio loves him.
The Last Dance is not a proper documentary, as Jordan's company was one of the producers of the project. It is a biased look at MJ's career, steers clear of his marriage/infidelity problems, and is just problematic in so many ways
True, by a large percentage of fans at least. They don't even know that he was leagues better than Kobe (a player barely in the top 15 all-time btw, let alone top 10 or goat case) and the best player of the 2000s lol, nor his carries, abilities and achievements.
@@prezian1312: I definitely, disagree with what yall said. Because yes, Tim Duncan was a great Player & a champion! But Kobe Bryant owned The Spurs in the playoff, including a 18-12 record against Tim Duncan in the playoffs.
Mingled Jester Tim Duncan kind of did more though both had 5 champions same as Kobe and 3x finals mvp compared to kobe 2x finals mvp.He was also a 2x mvp and I feel like he dominated that era.Shaq also but Kobe made the bigger impact worldwide obviously as we know. Its easily between Kobe,Tim duncan,or shaq.
Appreciate Greatness! My favorite player of all time is Tim Duncan. I don't think I will ever forget balling in tears when I watched his jersey retirement ceremony. Despite this, I am with you completely. It annoys me how fans treat there favorite players like deity's and bash anyone who says anything against their player. I see this a lot with Kobe fans, LeBron fans and MJ fans. If I say I liked Duncan's career better, I am not stabbing Kobe's career. I'll say he was a super talented player. I just like how Duncan handled himself, his willingness to sacrifice for the team, and how he just wanted to win and did not care about flashy moments. At the end of the day, basketball is a beautiful game, and these players and others helped make it what it is. :)
I agree. I am also a big Tim Duncan fan. He is my favorite player replacing Kareem Abdul Jabbar. His demeanor and simple yet powerfully effective playing is just damn near perfect. As a teammate Tim was grounded, humble, and wasn't a stat chaser like many stars who followed. Tim's turnaround bank shot was money. It was as good as the shot we take on a billiard table. I guess if I was able to play basketball as a pro Tim Duncan would be me. I consider Kareem Abdul Jabbar the GOAT because he excelled in basketball at all levels - High School, College, and the NBA. Also when the NBA has to ban the league's most dynamic and signature shot, the slam dunk, because of you, that speaks volumes. What's amazing is Kareem developed the most unstoppable shot in the history, the skyhook. No one has been able to repeat it.
Duncan was 5-1 in the finals, knocked off the three time champ lakers, 3 finals mvp's. Was a miracle Ray Allen shot from 6-0 in the finals. Not to shabby
@@MrOctober44 Duncan is one of the most overrated players of all time. Two of his finals victories are illegitimate in my view, especially against the Cavs. That was the first finals where the NBA completely abandoned the rules. It was like the cavs were playing by the rules, and the spurs weren't. Every screen Duncan set was a moving screen. Every time Parker, Ginobili, and Leonard drove to the basket, or did that handoff play around the perimeter, they traveled. I remember one play where Parker traveled, double dribbled, carried, and committed an up and down violation, in the same play, and it was a top play! This finals turned me off nba basketball. It was a farce, and one of the worst displays of basketball I've ever seen. They traveled so much that the defense would jump at the wrong time! The cavs got cheated out of that one. I can't consider that a real championship. Overrated! Two undeserved rings. He was a great, but is super overrated

Wilt said to Jordan, "The difference between you and me is that they had to change the rules, so I couldn't dominate. They changed the rules for you so that you could dominate.“
@@pixelmasque The average height in the league when Wilt played was 6' 6" and today the average is 6' 7". Not a significant difference and nobody can accurately call the league when Wilt played "tiny." That's a silly argument that uninformed people keep tossing around because they think it makes them look smart. The hand check rule was changed mostly because of Jordan and the league wanting more offense. Refs also gave Jordan favorable treatment, ignoring his fouls on defense, calling fouls with Jordan on offense if somebody farted on his leg, The refs also always gave Jordan the five steps he needed for a dunk. You sound like someone who never saw Wilt play.
@@gaarou8231 Wilt didn't have any talent around him until he won the championship in Philly. He sacrificed his game that year to get his teammates involved and led the league in assists, the only center to ever do that. Bill Russell had much better talent around him when the Celtics were racking up all of those rings, not even arguable. Wilt played on the Lakers with Elgin Baylor, Jerry West, and Gail Goodrich. They won a championship. Silly comment calling Wilt a choker but you are entitled to your opinion.
It's an amazing video. Two things bothered me however. 1. I would also bring Shaq and Hakeem into the conservation. 2. When you discussed the help each player had you didn't count coach and management.
@SunamiKilla Wilt was a center and the average center at the time was 6'10, Shaq actually had it easier. Shaq would sometimes get shut down by Dennis Rodman who was 100 lbs less than him. Take Dennis Rodman, add 50~60 lbs, add 6 inches of height, add some vert, and sacrifice no speed or athleticism and that is Wilt Chamberlain.
Hello uploader, I am a 37y.o guy from Sydney City, Australia, and I'd like to commend you on your extensive, effective and overall excellently presented videos, with this particular offering being my favourite. My favourite scene in this video is at 2:29:00 because the way you slam the book closed and nonchalantly toss it away - having directly proceeded the comprehensive analysis and breakdown of the GOAT candidates - simultaneously portrays how arduous and enduring the task was and yet also how seemingly indifferent you are to the mammoth amount of work you have done. Good to see some humour amongst the intense and rigid nature of the presentation!
Hurtful facts(as a Kobe superfan) MJ is the goat, Bron is the most complete player, Kobe is the best scorer, Hakeem has the best fundamentals, Curry is the best shooter, Shaq was the most dominant, Magic was the most versatile, Timmy was the most consistent big man, Chris Paul is the most consistent guard and Wilt, Wilt was the former goat until MJ took the throne.
i think a better way to explain lebron is he is the most physically gifted.Lets be clear, lebron slacks on defense alot, which is why he cant be truly called complete in my book nor can he be in the same convo of mike or kobe.Lebron puts up numbers no doubt. But alot of that is physical speed and power, not completeness or mental toughness. In fact 90 pct of the great stories you hear about mike and kobe talk of those mentally tough situations.
@@EC_IS_Here Facts. But bron was a good defender if he wants to. He doesn't have the same mindset like MJ and Kobe. Maybe he just want to prolong his career by moving less in defense
Lol. Uh, no. Jordan is HANDS DOWN the greatest scorer the league has ever seen. Bryant was a mediocre shootin' gunner that ain't even in Money's stratosphere. LeBron isn't the most complete player (but WindyCityKid put it best about him possibly being the most physically gifted) and Chris Paul _damn sure_ ain't more consistent than STOCKTON. What the hell you smokin'?
funny how you mention the .conspiracy' around mj's retire, but didn't mention exactly why he came back to the wiz..... it was not for 'the love of the game' but was a request by management to get ratings and increase ticket sales, in return once mj retires he would be able to go back to his role as bball ops with ownership options.....this was the only real reason he came back to play with the wiz. but when he retired, the owners declined him the role and ownership option, which pissed him off and the rest is history
Mj claimed he missed the game of basketball and decided to return with a low contract expecting to return b-ball operations he also wanted to play alongside the number one draft pick he recommended to chose he pushed the first overall draft pick kwame brown to the point where he claimed he felt ashamed of himself for not living up to mj’s expectations. The wizards didn’t take him back as b-ball ops because of the way he trash talked the staff and fellow players at the time
MJ still loved the game it was just a case of 2 birds one stone. Before he was injured he averaged 25 6 5. There is no way at 38 or 39 you averaging that and playing your heart out does not equate for love of the game.
In the year that Wilt averaged 50.4ppg for a season (1961-62), Wilt's Warriors ended up losing to Russell's Celtics in the 1962 playoffs in 7 games by just 2 points. It said in the video that they lost in 6 games, so I am making the correction here.
That's actually the counterargument to Russell in the top 5 convo. He has all the titles but look at home team winning percentage that decade. It was like 75% most years. The Celtics were stacked so always had the 1 seed and Wilt almost always pushed them to 7. So even though the leagues were smaller, the Celtics didn't exactly dominate teams.
@@reuvenroslynesq8954 The Celtics took it easy during the regular season but would hit nitrous in the playoffs and finals. Bill Russell is perfect in the playoffs. The lie that the celtics had it really easy, in particular because of less teams and the other lie that there were nothing but short caucasians, is a cope because what Bill Russell achieved is supposed to be impossible.
Over FlightReacts we all know he was the first player to score 1000 points in ONE game and won 12 mvps with 20 finals championship but of course since he played during the older times the cameras wasn’t turned on at the time since technology was limited back in his time
Great documentary. One stat line for MJ. You said he struggled when returning from injury avg ONLY 22 pts. He did that on a 15 min per game minute count while supposed to be tanking. Made playoffs anyways and 22 pts!
That there showed bad league was then add is Jordan put over isaiah when Jordan never did nothing earn it. Isaiah beat real Lakers and Boston Where never beat Boston only beat fake lakers
@Lance Dela Cruz the league is so much more talented today. Those “good” 90’s rosters would get their heads beat in by top teams today. Don’t beleive? Which one of mikes teams beat the 17 or 18 warriors. You can pick anyone of his teams he got a ring with, and they still lose in 5 to the warriors. The 90’s era is overall af
First of all very very good video/documentary. Goatmentary it is. MJ had the least help points among them but placed 2nd in championships. Just saying.. He is the perfect mix of individual greatness as Wilt and team success as Russell.
@jason roman dude you do realize that all those teams had 60+ wins, a great coach, and also they had to get through the tough eastern conference every year
jason roman you cant mic drop to something that’s wrong. Jordan made more all defense team then Lebron and has a DPOY so saying all he had do was score is incorrect. Also Lebron has only been without another all in his first stint in Cleveland and 2018 in Cleveland. In those he never won anything of note except individual accolades, and those teams never beat good teams as the east was always weak. Now Lebron still was the main catalyst but they had a great system of shooters that could space the floor for Lebron, and they played good team basketball, but last time I checked he didn’t win any rings no DPOY’s and he was swept in the finals. So even if he carried he didn’t win also in 2018 he got past a injured Celtics team, a good raptors team I’ll give you that, but saying he did everything is wrong when he didn’t make an all defensive team for the past 5 years, he’s been sitting out games, and that 2018 Cavaliers team was last in defensive rating, so clearly if he was doing everything he wasn’t doing it well. So if he was carrying he never won without another all star. So what are we left with, he’s won 3 chips with 2 assists other all stars where both teams lost more in the finals then they won (I’ll give him a pass in Cleveland.) but also he’s never won 60 games in Cleveland and they were a bad defensive team. Also last time I checked Jordan always had a 60 win season and was top 3 in the league for defensive rating every season. Also stop with the bullshit about pippen. Jordan in 1987 where he didn’t have any other all star but pippen was a rookie averaging 7 ppg, and got to the ECF and was beaten by the pistons who had the far superior team, but no Jordan just couldn’t win without pippen but for Lebron when he gets to the finals and gets swept and he shoots poorly from the field and gets shut down defensively by the spurs no he doesn’t have enough help bro be consistent with your arguements.
jason roman also you see how you are trying to downplay the dominance of the bulls who won 6 chips (btw Dennis Rodman wasn’t there on the first one) that Jordan had so much help when Rusty Buckets just showed you that Jordan had less help, but also nobody other then him and Scottie averaged over 15 ppg where as Lebron had more all stars he’s played with and has a worse winning percentage than MJ though MJ has less help. Also MJ went to the ECF three times before making the finals where the pistons set up the whole defense around just stopping him, not pippen (who was averaging only like 12 ppg at the time) because and I’m quoting them that no one else on that team could beat them. Also you can penalize Jordan for having help that’s not fair no Goat player can win without help, I’m just saying that fuck the times Lebron carried, but I care about the times he actually won, and as far as I can see when he was actually in a contending position he had more help, and less rings to show for it MIC 🎤 DROP
I'm on the LeBron side and with the amount of hate LeBron gets, the fact that the question gets debated on endlessly over and over again from now until forever actually is a HUGE case for LeBron. No other great guard/wing player has come this close to Jordan's GOAT stature to the point where people start a royal rumble in barber shops over it. As a life long LeBron fan, that's all I can ask for. I was only 9 years old when LeBron was drafted so I literally grew from a single digit year old child into me turning 30 in 3 months with him still being a major force in the league. I was calling LeBron the greatest of all time on the school bus back in like 2006 lol. I knew what I was seeing! Back then, people just laughed at that opinion. Now they get mad lol. It's real now and they don't want it to be.
Surely this is an unbiased documentary and l have no problems with any of the selections you made. l love how this documentary shows the flaws and strengths of each of these greats. lt is good to know that each of these players is great in their own way, but their flaws also make them natural, rather than the superhumans some like to make certain players out to be.
This is my fourth time watching this documentary on legends in the NBA. It is so well done and through. I wish Hakeem and Shaq were included however. Great work Rusty Buckets!!!!
Best and most thorough GOAT video I’ve seen on UA-cam. I hated Jordan for his whole career, and, as a Lakers fan, I wish I could say Jabbar, Magic or Kobe was the best, but, alas, Jordan is the GOAT.
Why you hated Michael Jordan if he was in the Eastern Conference his whole career and thus didn't prevent the Lakers from making the NBA Finals and the Lakers only made the NBA Finals once in his prime.
Pill Box I hated Jordan too, but for a different reason. The shine he took off of Scottie Pippen’s achievements, to put himself on that GOAT Pedestal. Pippen if you look at his achievements is a 85% LeBron James, just like Kobe is a 85% Micheal Jordan. Jordan has a career 48% win-rate WITHOUT Scottie Pippen, he had 0 of 5 winning seasons, and was 1-10 in the playoffs overall without him(the east was top-heavy, like now, so sub-500 teams made the playoffs in those 3 seasons) . Jordan also lost a critical playoff game 7 in 1995 when Pippen was out with a Disability, BUT the blame still gets put on Pippen for missing the game , and not Jordan for not being able to win without Pippen by his side. Jordan is only the GOAT, when he had Pippen by his side. Then his career win rate goes up to 68% when they are together, and 6-5 for winning their conference. Together, the Jordan-Pippin Bulls were THE GREATEST DUO OF ALL TIME.
Doctor Cthulhu what series are you talkin about? If it’s the 95 ecf pippen played every game and that only went 6 .That was MJs return year. What game 7 are you talking about?
@@cjwrench07 The shine he took away? Jordan was the one who made Pippen who he was. And you act like as soon as Scottie showed up and made a huge difference to Jordan winning when in fact he was a bench player and only averaged 7 ppg. Last I checked it's a TEAM game to win, Jordan is THE GOAT for how truly great he was, but even he can't win and do it all himself so Scottie was his Robin.
@@cjwrench07 Pippen is not LBJ 85% pippen was a great 2nd option but there is no way he was a HOF if he was not on the bulls. Jordan Pushed him to who he was he was also guarding MJ in oractice which made him very good. Pippen scored 0 pts in game 7 of 1990 ECF throwing the game away he was not an allstar in 1991 as well. Lmao.

Shaq If Magic doesn't get HIV, he's easily top 3 all time but we have to judge by what happened and not what ifs Wilt could be #1 all time but doesn't have enough rings to get him past Kareem and MJ Kobe is top 5 because people always say 'he is the closest to MJ' which means he's top 5 if most people have MJ as the goat right? I've been a fan of Lebron ever since 2003, and for years I personally believed Lebron was the G.O.A.T. But as I started to play, watch and learn about the game it becomes more and more clear to me that M.J is and will remain the G.O.A.T, at least for another couple of decades. Out of everyone, Lebron and Kareem probably have the strongest argument against MJ in that they sustained their peak for such a long time to set mind blowing numbers/records. If your category for defining G.O.A.T is longevity and sustained greatness then I'd put Lebron, Kobe and Kareem all above MJ, but none of the 3 greats quite reached the peak that MJ has reached. MJ's prime/peak is just a tad better than anyone and everyone who has played whether it is in advanced metric, basic numbers and more importantly just pure eye test. Though I think it is pointless to discuss who the best player is out of the players that played in different eras, I think if you look closely enough the evidences will show who the greatest is.
@James Robert no I just don't value Kareem dominating a weak era in the 70s and his Lakers titles that highly because of all the help he had while being a second option for the majority of them
There is only one GOAT! You are the GOAT for making this documentary, I have so much respect for you and for the hours you put on this, it was just amazing! As you said the GOAT label is very subjective and is also generational and local, I'm sure a 70 year old person living in Boston would probably say Bill is the Goat for instance, anyway really good job I enjoyed it!

Wonderful video! Bill Russell was not 1st team (11) times, he was 1st team (3) times, 2nd team (8) times. During Chamberlain's career, Russell was 1st team (2) times to Chamberlain's (7). So Bill had the rings, Wilt had the individual accolades.
I go back and forth on them so much. I go with Russell because I don't believe that Wilt would have won as many titles with the supporting cast. He'd be favored every year but IDK if he'd win all of them.

However I also think Kobe Bryant should take up one of those spots the last one should be reserved for another 10 years at least, but I can understand it if someone doesn't put Kobe Bryant up there and has two other people in his place.
@H8 Red thanks appreciate your kind words and the sentiments towards the Mamba. He took tougher shots and played in an era where at his position it was much tougher than MJ
@H8 Red well said not much to add to that. I'd put Mullen there and Dumars as well but after that not much. Dumars was early on in his career also. After the Bad Boys fell off he kinda did too. Thank you Curly. The myth that Jordan carried a bunch of scrubs to 6 titles is ludicrous. In 93 the Bulls won 57 games, in 94 with Jordan playing baseball, those bums plummeted all the way to 55 wins. The first few years, yeah, but after 87 when Pip, Ho Grant and Phil Jackson came on board, MJ had help and a ton of it.
The bulls benches were ass....yall don't know hoop....joe Kline, jus buchler, James Edwards, will pursue, Stacey king etc... the only help was from the greatest shooter of all time Craig Hodges(go look at the 3pnt contest curry nor Thompson or anybody else still ain't caught him and they get a whole rack of money balls), y'all got a lot to learn fam. Stop making bullshit comments!
Winnie Tsui the 94 bulls were a much different team than 93 dude🤦♂️ they had all the main guys from 93 and added kukoc Kerr wennington longley .. team was loaded!
The time you put into this... wow! Though I had to cringe when hearing the era MJ played in brought into question. Glad you included Bird in the discussion as he certainly belongs. And I think his case is stronger than you put on. I think it's MJ and Kareem has the best argument of everyone else.
Magic, Bird, and Duncan were great, great players and if you were doing top 10 all time they're all worth considerations but neither I think is in anyones consideration for the GOAT, this argument has always been about the fab 5 MJ., Kareem, Russell, Chamberlain or Lebron
In my opinion MJ is the goat but he did player in one of the lesser talented eras. Not because there wasn't enough talent but bcuz it was only one of those dudes per team. Ewing, Hakeem, Drexler, Robinson, Barkley, Reggie, Grant Hill had no second star. There were literally only a handful of teams who did. And even if they did they were not as good as Pippen. Mourning had Tim hardaway. Shaq had Penny who was only really good for like 2 in a half seasons and the same thing for gary payton and shawn kemp. The only other most consistent duo was Stockton and Malone but by the time they started making it out of the west the bulls had a third star in Rodman so yeah. Also how else can you explain having the least amount of help points but also going 6 and 6 in the finals.
lebron just won his th title , but i must say, MJ will always be the GOAT, no disrespect to lebron, but MJ is just that once in a lifetime all around athlete and champion that we will never see play again.
Mj never passed the ball to anyone🤣 no disrespect but he was tat type of player whereas Lebron gets his teammates involved whether if it's season playoff or finals. Mj former teammate was asked whom he would want to play with MJ or LBJ n he replied LBJ stating the fact tat again MJ never passed the ball. Where the people in tat room laughed when hearing tat answer, not an all round player just stating the facts bout all round
@@samanirsanglir9731 jordan was an underrated passer and averaged a shit ton of assists when he played PG lmao. Also, Jordan averaged 11 assists in the ‘91 finals second only to magic. Its just that Phil Jackson developed a system to emphasize jordan taking more of a scoring role rather than a playmaking role or overall doing everything.
i’ve played, coached and watched b ball for over 50 years. Anyone who thinks MJ isn’t the greatest simply never saw him play. I don’t care one iota about highlight clips. they’re irrelevant except to point out clutch moments. Michael would go entire games without doing anything spectacular, that’s not what wins games. He would relentlessly score on mid range shots, in transition, or at the rim in the half court and find teammates when they were open. He was unstoppable and never let off the intensity, he played every game and every minute. He was the ultimate irresistible force that broke the opponent, as he did it on both ends of the floor. As one of the greatest defenders of all time, his opponents never had a moment to rest, mentally or physically. His competitiveness, confidence and leadership were also unparalleled. He was more of a Patton type of leader, not warm and fuzzy, but his teammates were forced to achieve a higher level and care more about winning than they ever had; the alternative was far too unpleasant. You never see any of that in highlights, only his spectacular aerial displays with some of his iconic clutch plays ( which is legit) sprinkled in. Entertaining, but completely fails to capture why he was the greatest player, not just the greatest athlete. His true greatness, if you watched him live, was that you KNEW he was going to win, you knew it. He took control of the outcome and there was never any doubt. Barry Bonds at the plate his last few years was the only athlete I ever saw where you knew the outcome was a foregone conclusion. MJ never even went to a single game 7 in the playoffs. Traditional stats showing 35/ game in the playoff on over 50% shooting, near record steals, etc are illustrative, but look at advanced stats, they show just how much more dominant he was than anyone else.

Honestly when I think about it Tim Duncan is the 3rd best player of all time. He had some of the toughest competition ever. The Lakers with Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe. The big 3 Heat. He had go against KG and Drik. Who both played in the west. With a that competition he won 5 championships.

This has to stop. Kobe is not even in the GOAT conversation. The guy in the video complains about the shaq carrying kobe narrative, but then talks about how Shaq carried Kobe in the three-peat. Shaq won the regular season mvp and all three finals mvps putting up ridiculous stats. When were the rest of the goats in question anything less than the best player on their team? The rest of the candidates earned multiple regular season mvps Kobe has one. Kobe has 2 finals mvp's to go with his 5 rings. Which IMO negates the 5 ring argument in the GOAT conversation. Kobe is undoubtedly one of the best to ever do it. I'd say top 20 pretty easy, but just below GOAT tier with the likes of Hakeem, Curry, etc. It is honestly a shame Kobe is up here and not Shaq.
William Wainaina don’t ever talk Basketball ever again, you should be ashamed of yourself. Kobe easily top 5 ever! For you to say top 20 ever let’s me know you’re lack of knowledge of the game. With Kobe having 33k, 7k, 6k total stats, 15 all defensive teams( 9 first team) 11 all-nba first team ( tied for the most) 5 rings is easily top 5 material. Shaq only has one mvp as well but we all know kobe and Shaq deserved more mvps.

@@tristangreene2888 no both Wilt and MJ were great! They both were not overrated! LOL...Wilt only holds 72 NBA records to this day. MJ holds 9. Wilt won twice and MJ 6. On a ring perspective Bill Russell won 11 times! non of these men are overrated!
We need to change GOAT to GOTT. From 'greatest of all time' which is a flawed argument, to 'greatest of their time' which is more logical and fair way of looking at players in completely different eras playing against completely different competition, rules, etc.
Great video, I would like to point out a two things though: 1) Bill Russell and Wilt definitely are a part of this conversation. However, for at least half-2/3 of their careers, the NBA only had between 8-12 teams with a vastly different Playoff format. Winning 11 Championships when Boston has an automatic first round bye, then needs to win a Best of 5 followed by a Best of 7 in the championship is way easier than the grueling modern era regular season/playoffs we have today. The season was also shorter with only 72 games in a regular season as opposed to 82 today. There is a good chance with more teams and more games, Bill's body would not have sustained the excellency he had in his career. 2) Your "Help Modifier" was an interesting metric, however I feel what would have been more fair was to have the metric be measured as a per season number. Kobe had multiple years of help from Shaq and Magic had the majority of his career with Kareem. However, both of those are measured the same way as LeBron's 4 season with Miami, the last of which was clear Wade was not the same player as he once was. Overall, great video and it was a fun watch. Props to the production quality given the size of your channel. Hope you continue to grow this! Maybe remake the video in another 3-4 years since I very well believe Steph Curry who basically changed the modern NBA game will eventually be part of this list as well.
According to your logic a players entire career is basically decided upon which team you are drafted in. Most of the small market teams aren't able to provide the right assets to compete for a championship unlike the lakers for example

No one has been able to repeat it.

i think a better way to explain lebron is he is the most physically gifted.Lets be clear, lebron slacks on defense alot, which is why he cant be truly called complete in my book nor can he be in the same convo of mike or kobe.Lebron puts up numbers no doubt.
LeBron isn't the most complete player (but WindyCityKid put it best about him possibly being the most physically gifted) and Chris Paul _damn sure_ ain't more consistent than STOCKTON. funny how you mention the .conspiracy' around mj's retire, but didn't mention exactly why he came back to the wiz.....
it was not for 'the love of the game' but was a request by management to get ratings and increase ticket sales, in return once mj retires he would be able to go back to his role as bball ops with ownership options.....this was the only real reason he came back to play with the wiz.
but when he retired, the owners declined him the role and ownership option, which pissed him off and the rest is history
That is true. 100% right
Mj claimed he missed the game of basketball and decided to return with a low contract expecting to return b-ball operations he also wanted to play alongside the number one draft pick he recommended to chose he pushed the first overall draft pick kwame brown to the point where he claimed he felt ashamed of himself for not living up to mj’s expectations.
It made the regular season more interesting It didn’t hurt MJ’s legacy just like how Kobe’s last years didn’t hurt his legacy.

In the year that Wilt averaged 50.4ppg for a season (1961-62), Wilt's Warriors ended up losing to Russell's Celtics in the 1962 playoffs in 7 games by just 2 points. It said in the video that they lost in 6 games, so I am making the correction here.
He made a lot of errors about Russell lazy research
That's actually the counterargument to Russell in the top 5 convo. He has all the titles but look at home team winning percentage that decade. It was like 75% most years. The Celtics were stacked so always had the 1 seed and Wilt almost always pushed them to 7. So even though the leagues were smaller, the Celtics didn't exactly dominate teams.
So wilt lost all the time due to "inferior teammates" but he always lost game 7s to Russell.
@@reuvenroslynesq8954 The Celtics took it easy during the regular season but would hit nitrous in the playoffs and finals. Bill Russell is perfect in the playoffs. @Lance Dela Cruz he still lost lol
First of all very very good video/documentary. Goatmentary it is. MJ had the least help points among them but placed 2nd in championships. Just saying.. He is the perfect mix of individual greatness as Wilt and team success as Russell.
@jason roman hahahah the 90s wast the best era of basketball full of big men and defense, now its a 3point contest with no defense at all.
Also you can penalize Jordan for having help that’s not fair no Goat player can win without help, I’m just saying that fuck the times Lebron carried, but I care about the times he actually won, and as far as I can see when he was actually in a contending position he had more help, and less rings to show for it MIC 🎤 DROP
jason roman wow so my nigga can’t read no wonder you think brons the goat
I'm on the LeBron side and with the amount of hate LeBron gets, the fact that the question gets debated on endlessly over and over again from now until forever actually is a HUGE case for LeBron. No other great guard/wing player has come this close to Jordan's GOAT stature to the point where people start a royal rumble in barber shops over it. As a life long LeBron fan, that's all I can ask for. I was only 9 years old when LeBron was drafted so I literally grew from a single digit year old child into me turning 30 in 3 months with him still being a major force in the league.

I think that can only be explained by lack of competition
In my opinion lebron is the goat
because back then you were not able to double team and lebron carried the cavs to the finals with no one on his team

True
You can make something else like this? This is so well made and u can tell all thought in it. It was just so great and I want more like this
i’ve played, coached and watched b ball for over 50 years. He was unstoppable and never let off the intensity, he played every game and every
minute.

We need to change GOAT to GOTT. From 'greatest of all time' which is a flawed argument, to 'greatest of their time' which is more logical and fair way of looking at players in completely different eras playing against completely different competition, rules, etc.
This
Great video, I would like to point out a two things though:
1) Bill Russell and Wilt definitely are a part of this conversation.
