Lovely video! Please do make more
Thank you and thanks so much for watching 💛
This was such a nice video ❤. Really enjoyed it as a finn 😊. Like said yes it's pretty typical weather for may, there's even a song in finnish that roughly translates "the sun is shining and it's pouring rain it seems like summer is coming" 😁. There has even been snow fall during mid summer in south of Finland sometimes. Rarely, but sometimes. Hail storms occur also sometimes during summer.
Aw thank you, so glad you enjoyed it! Haha don’t get me wrong, it’s hardly tropical here in the UK, but we were surprised at how much the weather couldn’t make up its mind! 😂 and yes, maybe weren’t expecting the snow… such a beautiful country you’ve got though 💛
Great video! Im Scottish and moved to Finland 6 years ago. I've lived in a few different places accross the country but live in Åland now. To see the beauty in Finland you need to walk into the woods. The further into the wild you go, the more beautiful it is.
Thank you! Our stay was definitely too short, we could have easily moved to that cabin and kept exploring. Do you speak Finnish now?
@@WeFilmThings My Finnish is rubbish! It is an extremely difficult language. My husband is Swedish. Swedish is the second official language in Finland and on the autonomous islands we live now, they only speak Swedish and it is much easier than Finnish!
@@lolsaXx that makes sense, yes Finnish is so hard and you can’t cross reference any other languages 😅 we may have bought the wrong groceries in our short stint in Finland multiple times 😂
Great video guys - really keen to head up to Scandinavia at some point, just so much choice that it makes it impossible decide where to go?! Your daughter is so cute🥺
Haha I know what you mean! On this trip we did Copenhagen and Helsinki as well and still barely scratched the surface… I guess you just have to break it up into chunks and keep coming back! Thank you, she’s so much fun 🥰
loved this video! I had a very similar trip as you guys few years back at the same time of year and it was slightly warmer :D
Thanks so much for watching! Haha we were NOT expecting snow, not going to lie!
The weather is as usual it can be in may. Everything between sunshine and snow... And the temperature could be between -5 to +20C. 😅
Haha thank you for confirming 😂 it definitely caught us by surprise, I guess we expected it would be colder but not quite snowing!
I rather live in this weather in Finland than in the heat +50C of Southern Europe.
@@butterflies655 Same here, it just caught us by surprise 😂
spring weather is fickle to say the least. from mid april to mid may you can have anything from +20 C to having literal snow on the ground. In early may it may still snow a little bit on cold days but it never stays on the ground and only a couple days can make a huge difference in temperature. the weather you were experiencing is not by any means rare or unheard of but it is colder than expected during that time of the year. Us finns tend to whine about "takatalvi" or back-winter when it happens but we know that summer is just a matter of time and the conditions can completely change from winter jackets to shorts within a week.
some years there has even been snowfall in june but that definitely is rare and anomalous
Thank you for validating our experience - it was definitely colder than we expected and I think we were surprised by just how much the weather couldn’t make up its mind! We had a wonderful time though 😊
