Hey dude, just a tip. You can improve on your opener, It should always be like this; *prepot - ebonbolt - flurry (while ebonbolt travels) - ice lance* This way your ebonbolt AND icelance shatters instead of just your ice lance
Hi @Lord Baz, I'm personally not a huge fan of the double IL. It's something that high end mythic raiders do because you need to adapt your PING and not a lot of people are fond of doing this. I definitely gives better results but I'm not pushing mythic atm. It will probably get fixed in Patch 7.2.5. :-)
so i just started playing frost mage again after a long break, but your build loses the "it's cold outside" golden trait in the artifact weapon if you use the talent "lonely winter" correct? how is taking a talent that loses dps from your pet better? im not trying to be argumentative, just trying to make a good decision on this
Hi @ Joshiah Morgan, when playing the TV spec you are stacking crit and haste as a main stat, which means that you don't have a lot of mastery. I don't even reach 30% atm. I don't know how geared you are and how many traits you have. But LW is better since we don't have a lot of mastery anymore and LW gives better dps in general. When lower geared, you can go for BC. Nice guide man. Though I'm pretty sure you're doing your opener wrong as you get less damage from ebonbolt. You want to IV then flurry with BF right after your ebonbolt cast, as your BF will shatter Ebonbolt and deal more damage. Just discovered you keep it up!
Hi @ Oliver Gagnon. I use ebonbolt as a pre cast so I can start extending IV right away. Since I don't have the legi hands. During the encounter I use the normal Ebonbolt into flurry :)
Yeah I didn't mean IV before Ebonbolt lol that would be dumb but when you engage at 4:00 you do your ebonbolt cast then IV but you gotta cast flurry right away to shatter it. I saw you put a FB between the Brain Freeze proc from Ebonbolt and ebonbolt, which grant you a stack of chain reaction but I think it's better to just shatter your ebonbolt to not lose a FoF proc with frostbolt, which happened to you. IDK if I'm clear but it's just my opinion lol
Hi, thank for clearing this out. I actually think I get more dps when I play like this. Getting a FF proc while I'm trying to get rid of the Flurry Proc is just bad luck. With the way you're explaining it, I wouldn't get a chain reaction. Unless I'm mistaken. I will try the opener you told me in the raid tonight and see if I get a DPS increase. :-)

Great video man. Just a question about the rotation, if you have both procs (Fingers and BrainFreeze) up at the same time what do you do?? II tend to cast IL > Flurry > IL. I see you try to add a FB in there for the shatter crit on flurry. Doesn't that tend to munch brain freeze procs?? Doing IL > FB > Flurry > IL does get your Frostbolt to crit but at the cost of (for me ~30%) getting a brain freeze proc.
Stonedog If you cast the flurry right as the frostbolt casts, you can still get a BF proc from the frostbolt, so throwing in the bolt will give you more bf procs. It's pretty easy to do once you get used to it :)
You're doing a great job with your videos. Yes you give a lot of information quickly but that is ok. I can tell you that Freezing Rain has all but made fire obsolete in AOE situations especially in mythic plus dungeons. I am a fire mage and now have switched like so many to frost without the bracers or gloves and fire just cannot compete. Hopefully this will change in 7.2.5. I would love it if you would make a video about how you incorporate Blizzard into your rotation once you get Freezing Rain..thanks!

I have BIS 880 frost relic that reduces reduction of IV and a 890 frost relic that increases ff by 25 %. FF has become more used in my dps rotation. I just got the 890 relic to reduce IV CD. Do you think I should just use replace the 880 to 890 reduction in IV or should I replace the 890 ff 25% for the reduction in IV?
Hi! That's really up to you :-) Still you wanna go with the highest ilevel relic. If the difference between the two relics is only 5 item level, you can go for your BiS one. Just keep doing Neltharion's Lair and Trilliax in the Nighthold, they drop your BiS relics. :-)
Hi @ Lonas Black, at a certain moment LW is going to be better than Bone Chilling. This is the reason why we don't play with our water elemental when we are higher geared.
Hi @ N Childs, when playing purely on extending icey veins, with the lego hands of course, you only use shimmer to double IL. This is more of a basic guide so I'm not really covering the double IL rotation with shimmer :)
I just levled my first mage from 100-107 in fire spec and am now considering frost as an alternative. The video made alot of sence, there is just one thing i didnt quite catch.. What is it we are trying to keep extending on with icelance? a debuff on the enemy or? Otherwise a really nice and simple video man, good job :)

As a Frost mage, your most important stats are crit and haste. You will never ever reach 50% mastery when playing the thermal void spec. If all the fire mages play frost now, they will have a lot of mastery because their mains stats were crit and mastery.

Idk y I have so much mastery since I enchant n gem crit but I do. I have my loot specialization set to frost. Look up Kevinrex-Proudmoore in armory and you'll see I'm not bullshitting u.
HI @ Brandon Harris, Let it go is really good. But the best relic atm is based on extending our icey veins, making frozen veins our best pick. In 7.2.5 Let it go will be the better choice, since they're nerfing icey veins.
Yo mate, great video at all but u forgot the mechanic to use double icelance after shatter when ur above 50% haste and this is why u gonna take shimmer instead of icefloes no matter what fight is u lose much dmg when u dont using the double icelance after flurry , wehn u got above 50% haste and FB into flurry u can use icelance shimmer to boss and do a second icelance , when ur above 100% haste u can just FB info flurry and just use icelance while moving forward and useing icelance again :)

Hi @ Ryan, I'm getting great results from casting blizzard when I have no FF or flurry procs. I do have the legendary belt so I use Blizzard anyways even on ST :). Blizzard reduces the cd on frozen orb and with the freezing rain trait I don't see the point of not casting one after the frozen orb....

When I have FF and BF up at the same time I go for IL to loose the FF proc into FB. Afterwards I use my Flurry proc and an IL :).
