Today I’m sharing everything I bought from Polish Pick Up in 2023! If you don’t know, Polish Pick Up, or PPU for short, is a pre-order that goes live the first weekend of every month, with new themes each month and SO many indie brands that participate! The majority of the offerings are nail polish, but there are also hand/body/nail care items as well. Due to the pre-order nature, everything is pretty much Limited Edition, so you will likely have to find PPU related products second hand thru Mercari or Facebook groups. There’s a chance you can get some of these in July for PPU Rewind, or the shops might have some PPU shades available in mystery bags. Have you shopped PPU before? The next one is this weekend! This is the year that I became obsessed with nail polish. So, I only found out about Polish Pick up in November, which is a problem. Because now I'm a nail polish snob. LOL. Thanks for doing this.. I love seeing what you got last year.
My nail polish obsession started with simplynailogical years ago, but I finally bought some Holo Taco last august. Then throughout the year I discovered other brands, including ILNP, Painted Polish, Cirque Colors, Mooncat and Noodles Nail Polish. Now I'm doing my best to ignore PPU because my wallet already hates me haha!
@@duckie3863 haha Right?! When you look at the price of nail polish you think "it's not that bad", but then you realize you need ALL the nail polish - and it IS that bad. ;)
omg yayy welcome to the sparkly side 😈✨ it definitely is a lot to keep up with between regular releases AND any LE pre-orders, I feel like most people kind of have to choose one over the other 😅

Wowza! I discovered PPU in August of last year and got hooked. Have been a loyal paying monthly customer since then. Such a great way to discover and explore new nail polish brands and build your collection. My favorite brands so far from PPU are Bluebird, Cuticula, Rogue, Phoenix, Wild Flower, Polished for Days, Glisten & Glow, KB Shimmer, BKL, Penelope Luz, Pahlish, Monarch, and Colors de Carol. Those are the brands I always check first and they truly create magic ✨. Watching PPU swatch and review videos on UA-cam is extremely helpful before shopping. It can be an expensive hobby, and extremely overwhelming at times considering how many new releases there are from the brands themselves, but I love it, I’m here for it. It’s a BLAST 💥 I call it my guilty pleasure and do not feel guilty about it at all. (Maybe sometimes LOL) 😂
Yesss those are such great brands!! I think I’ve tried all except Rogue & Monarch, but I’m really glad you got to explore so many new brands just through PPU 🤩 and yes totally agree about watching swatch videos beforehand! Well, it’s usually helpful but most times I’m like UGH that’s sooo pretty and then I have to convince myself I don’t need it 🤣🤭
I definitely went off the rails with PPU this year and there are polishes that I couldn’t live without but have then not even worn yet. Thank you for the reminder, I’ll make a project of wearing all my 2023 PPUs starting today!
ugh yess it’s such a dangerous game getting into PPU, sooo many beautiful polishes but are we ACTUALLY going to wear them 🙈 i hope you get through all of your 2023 purchases and enjoy them all!

Yay!! I've been waiting for this video, love seeing all the polishes you grabbed! I'm a newer PPU girly (got into it in July rewind because of Sassy Sauce's Glampire 😍) so I'm sad I missed out on the first half of the year, there were so many gorgeous ones! I'd definitely love to see you do monthly PPU wishlist videos! I also love watching those from NicoleLoves and MediocreManis, it's cool to see everyone's different tastes for the monthly releases and what they plan to grab!!

I second this. I love wishlisting videos (and streams but I’m definitely not pressuring anyone to stream, I would be terrified [and immediately canceled due to a flare-up of my foot in mouth disease] if I had to do that)! My goal for this year is wishlisting together with shopping my stash for dupes, close-enoughs, and dupable by layering polishes I own.

omg yes their streams are soo fun!! but i also would wanna throw up LOL 🤣 but thats exactly how i want to go about wishlisting too! keeping it to shades that are either super unique to my collection or ones I know I’ll regret in a few months, but also shopping my stash because we do tend to see “repeats” across brands every once in a while! thats also smart to think of layering combos as well to recreate some shades!

nailed it maya the bee is so beautiful!!! thanks for sharing what you got from PPU throughout the year, i love hearing about what polishes drew people in! i discovered PPU in 2023, and it was both really fun and also the start of my downfall :'D i only got about 8 polishes but it kickstarted my interest in indie brands and now im working through decluttering my collection. it's a learning process to know that you appreciate everything about a polish's color and design but you may not enjoy wearing it in reality-i doubt it will be the last time I participate in PPU but i will make a valiant attempt to hold off from being sucked in by the amazing colors and finishes haha
a notable polish i wore from PPU recently was Spring in Rivendell by Chameleon lacquer (november 2023 release) , it's a tri thermal of neon green, magenta, and cool dark purple, and I was only expecting two colors to show but all three colors show and change very quickly depending on what you touch! sometimes my whole nail was a pale mauve because the green and magenta were blending with each other. I was thoroughly entertained for the entire week I was wearing that color :')

And hahaha oh noo, yeah it’s definitely a dangerous thing to get into just bc of the fomo and stuff, but I’m glad you also got introduced to a lot of new indie brands! I really like that I branched out a little brand wise (even if the polishes themselves were all shimmers, oops lol) but yes it also is kind of a process to learn what you like & don’t like! I think the “good” thing is that even if you decide you don’t like or regret a PPU shade, you can easily resell it! But omg I remember seeing that tri thermal and being so blown away by the transitions, suuuch a cool polish! Thermals really can be so cool, even if they have a short shelf life 🥲

Lovely year haul from PPU! 🥰Love all the glowy goodies, and really admire the self control you had 😉I've been wearing nail polish since a kid in the '90s, but 2023 was the year of PPU and diving deeper into the indie world for me, and man, it's a WHOLE lifestyle, lol. I love it, but my bank account cowers in fear every month 😂There is def. a learning curve w/ figuring out what is worth the purchase/what's more FOMO driven than actual like --- but I've had more hits than misses, and love discovering brands and styles. PFD, KBShimmer, LynBDesigns, Sassy Sauce, Red Eyed Lacquer, Kathleen & Co., and Lumen have become favorites through PPU, and there are countless more this year I want to discover.
I didn't get into PPU till their July Rewind, so I missed a lot of goodies from the beginning of the year --- Pahlish's I Wanna Hold Your Ham and KBShimmer's Rose Were the Days for starts. The beauty of PPU is there is ALWAYS something beautiful to get, so if you miss out/can't afford one month, chances are something will capture you for next month.
Echoing others w/ doing PPU wishlist/haul vids! Would be interesting to see if you do comparisons for these as well, b/c as much as I love PPU there can be similarities across brands, sometimes even within the same theme.

I really don’t NEED anymore polish so while I do think there’s soo many beautiful shades, I just can’t justify getting them 🙈 haha yeah it really is a rabbit hole! 😅 arguably worth it though lol. But yes it definitely does take some time to really differentiate between the fomo/hype and you actually liking a polish. I think maybe because my collection had gotten so big over the years, and I don’t really have room to expand, I’m much more picky. But yes exactly, we also sometimes see polishes “come back” whether it’s literally making a return for rewind, but more often than not another brand just ends up releasing something really similar. Of the brands you mentioned I’ve yet to try Sassy Sauce, but they’ve been on my radar!!
Hopefully some of those shades you missed out in the first half of 2023 will come back for rewind, or that you find something similar ! Definitely happy to hear people would love to see a wishlisting video from me, I’m excited to give it a try for February! I can’t imagine how long it’ll be going over all the polishes but I will at least try to make mentions of potentials dupes for the ones I can think of!
Great haul! My favorites from 2023 were bluebird’s winter is so chill from December, sassy sauce that’s what sea said from august, and cuticula sleepy holo from September. I also picked up painted polish pastel prism and BKL beneath the erdtree :)

I love this video! I adore PPU and really enjoyed seeing your hauls. Do you buy any Ethereal lacquers? I think they had some strong options in PPU too, that was the only brand I was surprised not to see in this video.

So glad you enjoyed this vid and my picks :) and I’ve only ever tried one Ethereal before that I shared in last years video, I think called Neptune Planet Power but I ended up destashing it 😅 I do agree that they had strong contributions esp their “cloud” polishes, and I also loved Ether Dragon too but idk! For some reason I felt I could live without them 😅 I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on them this year!

Hey Stefanie! I was also disappointed with Glass Frog, and I picked it up in July after all the hype. Wear it as a topper over Cirque's Marsala Jelly. It's GORGEOUS that way! So glowy, beautiful, and the shimmer is complementary to the base of Marsala Jelly!
Also, I had no idea you were a NJ girl! Definitely taking a walk down memory lane with Weird NJ! My mom lives close to the "evil clown of Middletown" and I always think of Weird NJ when I visit her!

I don’t love a shimmer but loved seeing what you gravitated towards this past year. I think a lot of polishes may not have exact dupes but the vibes come around in both indie and mainstream releases all the time, so I don’t buy into the FOMO. A bottle of polish lasts me years, so I can wait a few seasons to get a similar polish. Plus, I tend to go between 3 or 4 vibes of manicure- dainty, pastel brights, neutrals and vampy. Each manicure I want to be able to have some choice but not have to wait before I return to my favourites. That’s been my biggest learning of the year- a haul of 3 or more polishes means I take almost a month of wearing my new shades before I get to wear a favourite polish from my collection again.
thats so true, even though theres a lot of fomo around ppu and other pre-orders, we really do end up seeing similar shades at one point or another 😅 and yeah thats definitely another huge factor too, actually being able to wear and enjoy what you’re buying. I don’t have THAT many untrieds in my collection, but i did end up swatching several of these for the first time soo 🙃 but I want to be better about that too! what good is a pretty polish if its only pretty inside a drawer lol 🫠

Dany Vianna stocks all the Brazillian brands (Penelope Luz and Phoenix), it's the easiest way to get anything from those brands imo. I check their preorder once every few months to grab some favorites (there are so many good ones).
I wasn't really into PPU before I started, but I actually like being able to grab things from multiple brands now. I like that they preview pretty early, so you have a couple of weeks to sift through your collection and a week of wishlisting to decide what you're ultimately going to buy. That 1month wait for the polish to show up is pretty brutal though!
i know!! i mean i did like it more when i swatched it again here, but idk from the original full hand swatch i did it just looked kinda bad to me! maybe it was just the lighting lol 😖 but aw i hope Painted Polish will bring back something similar to Pastel Prism!! it really is such a sweet crelly 🥹

From PPU - i am obsessed w vanessa molina dangerous beauty. I need her!! 🤣 also swamp gloss feed me! They’re almost 2 sides of the same crunchy coin. Also i’m so intrigued by that baroness x acetone antidote bec i can’t stand that dried out feeling on my nails and i love guava. the scent notes listed are very much my flavor. Can’t wait!!

Funny coincidence: My very first (and so far only) PPU purchase was the Night Owl Lacquer shade from September PPU because it was inspired by my home state! (WA) I was also tempted by the Clionadh shade the month before because I spent SOOOO many hours playing the Spyro series as a kid 😊

I love the Brazilian brands that I likely wouldn’t get outside PPU, though I’ve only tried Phoenix so far. PPU is such a fun thing and I love the idea that I can try different brands - though I admittedly have my faves. I do have a few brands that I still really want to try, like Nailed It, brands that are quickly becoming surprising favorites like Garden Path Lacquer. But it’s fun to be able to try new brands this way - I got my first Sweet & Sour this morning.
My favorite polish I’ve gotten so far is Ether Dragon by Ethereal, which lived up to the insane swatch pics.
The K&co Release has a a subtle magnetic effect, I think just so it reveals different colors. There’s a few makers that seem to be playing with that sort of effect recently - Vapid comes to mind.
And I just got Frosted Light too, it IS my first LynB, and can’t wait to wear it.

I am so surprised we didn’t pick up more of the same! I am still kicking myself for not getting Pahlish I want to hold your ham! I hope that makes it back for rewind at some point. You got so many that I was contemplating but passed on because I liked something more. I think we only picked up 3 of the same. G&G Goddess Of Love, BKL Beneath The Erd Tree, and G&G NJ Pine Barrens. This year I am definitely going to try and shop my own stash more, and only pick up polishes that truly call to me and are super unique to my stash. We shall see how that goes! 😆🤷🏼♀️

I love me some PPU. I heard about Polish Pick Up a few years ago. One month I bought every single polish. I have heard about some brand new brands through them like Clionah, Danglefoot and Paradox etc. I also love some of the lotions. I get excited every month now to see what theme is picked. Lots of really good buys I have throughout the years via PPU. You have some good choices.

OMG I'm sad I missed KBShimmer's Rose Were The Days, that is sooooo stunning!! I hope it comes back for rewind but they release so many good shades...😅 I only tried PPU for the first time this fall, but it's fun to see the themes and get a chance to try new brands. I love the spread of colors you picked up, they all look so beautiful together too!

Isn’t it sooo stunning!! I actually wanna compare it to KBs Pitcher This, it’s sort of similar color wise but Pitcher this is more of a true multichrome finish and doesn’t have those flakies, but mighttt be close enough! Either way def crossing my fingers it comes back for rewind, along with Goblins & Ghoulies 🤞🏼

I love to look too!!! Ngl I'm sort of obsessed with PPU now even though I'm new to it 🤣 but my wallet isn't, so I've set some rules for myself.. I only buy when I love the theme, then only from brands that actually seem like they were inspired by it that month. And then only if there's at least one swatch from someone other than the brand. This month I grabbed a few but didn't allow myself to get any purples (and wow there were SO MANY pretty purples to test my resolve 🤣)

I’ve been eyeing Clionadh cosmetics as a brand since I came across them back in 2017/2018 and have wanted so many products from them. But the polish you picked up is absolutely stunning and so my vibe. It looks like the two polishes I bought recently, but mixed together (I put Yes We Cran on first and then topped it with Pixie Party). I love taking shades and making them my own, but gorgeous on their own ofc 💗🌈💗Thank you for this video. I’d really love if every month you did a PPU wishlist and showed what you’re picking up and not picking up. Kinda like ppl do with makeup hit or miss videos, because I miss those days when everyone was doing those kinda videos. 💅🏻

Bluebird Rock of Sages, Cuticula Meowgical 2.0, Jen & Berries Depth Perfection, Rogue Knowledge Reclaimed, Atomic First Avenue, PFD Goblins and Ghoulies - that's the ones I've worn so far. I love shimmers and flakies and shattered holo. I had a lot of faves from HHC this year too. Fave brands are Phoenix, Sassy Sauce, M&N, Cupcake, PFD, Pahlish.
You have some super powered self-control 😂 I think I had 7-9 for rewind alone! I am trying to do a low buy this year but already bought 10 Zoya for the sale they are having 🤦🏼♀️

I was actually going to be sharing a Short on my channel soon comparing them, I picked up the PFD for BF 😅 and maybeee Mooncat’s Curse of Calypso has a similar vibe to Pahlish’s Salvador Dali, it’s missing some of that orange glow but generally has a similar color shift with the purple base! omg i got funny tree in july and my bottle also had those red flakes that i'm confused over. none have come out when painting so far though, and hopefully it will stay that way. oh i will say though, my sister borrowed it and put it over black and i kept getting distracted by how beautiful and glowy her nails were! definitely gonna be stealing that move for my own nails haha!

It's easy to find stuff like that with green shimmer but that cool true blue.... oh man. It's so perfect!

I bought 25 polishes from PPU this year, none of them are the ones you bought. I think Kathleen & Co Fun Dip and Dreamland Shake Your Shamrock are my favourites of the year, I bought Goblins and Ghoulies but I haven’t had a chance to wear it yet, but it will probably go on my top list too. It was so hyped I have a feeling it may come back for rewind!

I also purchased Goddess of Love in January 2023. Other than that, I only shopped the rewind in July '23. I had so many health crises in 2023, I missed just about every other PPU. And some months, I just wasn't interested. You got some beauties though. I'm really sad that I missed Pastel Prism in August. I was in the hospital and forgot all about PPU. BTW, I'm born and raised in NJ also, and I still live here.

You picked gems Stefanie!!! Now here‘s a theory about those sheers: a lot depends on the skin color of the nailbed. I have rather pinkish ones so sheer lilacy bases like the one of Glass Frog looks nice (at least I think so). Warmer toned bases twist the color of my nailbeds into a rather unfortunate shade 🤮. Fun fact: Glass Frog didn‘t make it into my yearly favorites 🫣

I feel the exact same about goddess of love!! Idk, maybe can try to wear it as a topper, but it looks... muddy in a not good way after 2 coats. Its weird! But I love the flakey combo 😩

ahh so glad you understand how i felt about Goddess of Love! what about if you layered it over a light pink/purple cream base? so that way you still get some of that base color and opacity, but less of the flakies building up? 🤔 and LOL no judgement here!! i’m glad you can go crazy for PPU 🤩 it was honestly mainly a budget issue for me before, but now its become a space issue where i really dont need/shouldn’t buy more polish for my collection, buuut i want it sometimes lol! 🥴

Def try Glass Frog over a dark base! While I enjoy it on its own, it reallllly comes to life over darker colors.
I have such a love hate relationship with Pahlish I Want To Hold Your Ham. I love love love the color but I don't think flakies work with that base. They get covered up and there's no sparkle at all. Did I just get a weird batch? It seemed so beautiful in all the swatches I saw 😩
