I was truly left a bit speechless. I knew Bill O'Reilly was racist. I couldn't have crafted in my wildest dreams, though, the extent of his racism.
If you've paid attention to politics and Fox News, all those clips of O'Reilly aren't new and you remember the exact moment when you heard those comments. I know I do...
Yeah, my dad used to watch O'Reilly all the time. I remember walking through the room and catching the "You look like a cocaine dealer" bit when it aired. It was so crazy it's stuck with me for years.
Well, it makes it all the more clear why we have the kind of discourse that we have now. O'Reilly is a major, but definitely not the only figure who has been infusing conservatives with anger, sense of victimhood, and ridiculous degree of racist attitudes.
The crazy thing about the cocaine dealer statement is that with the opioid epidemic in the Mid-west, white people are probably the main dealers.

I doubt it. The editing on the show is more dishonest than ever. Many of these quotes were out of context. The comment to Marc Lamont Hill was clearly a joke, and he was on The factor all the time, even though Roger Ailes wanted to get rid of him, because he was too smart and too left wing. O' Reilly got angry and demanded that he was kept.
Also Marc answered O'Reillys cocaine comment with "and you look like a cocaine user" :)

Stewart liked O'Reilly. They even did public debates together. He saw him as one of the least politically charged people on the network. If you "saw" that he didn't tolerate him, you are just reading stuff in to it that isn't there. Bill's obsessions were more about when he felt that religion was threatened. Hence his ridiculous rants about the "War on Christmas"
The outburst was long ago on Inside edition. I think O'Reilly is an interesting person full of contradictions, and more often than not, he was pretty thorough in his fact checking. He was head and shoulders above a loon like Hanity for instance.
I've noticed there seems to be a trend here resembling the aftermath of someone's death. These "ulogies" after the fact of Bill's termination are created in some sort of misplaced empathy. You mentioned he only got upset when he felt Christianity was attacked, is Christianity an exclusively white club? He clearly had issues with race diversity, don't fool yourself into thinking it was all about his religion.

Johnson Taylor that is probably not true because of the western countries USA is one of the most religous if not the most religous country and racism and intolerance is often found among deeply religous people. Also America is for sure the country with the most patriotism. And at some point when your flas is seen as a holy symbol and officials say phrases like "we are the greatest country in the world" (im not saying it isnt it is just debatable because there are thousand factors to take into consideration) then people will get the feeling that they are the best very fast. and if that happens you will look "down" to other people oftentimes.
That would be racism again. The third point is that USA is a big country and most of the people in the middle of the country have never been to another country have never seen vastly different cultures whereas in europe every somehundred kilometers there are vastly different countries with different languages and or religious backgrounds. Fear of the unknown is also a contributor to racism. All in all i would say USA is a country with a lot of latent racism that came out when the orange took office. But your country also have some of the nicest people ive ever meet. :)

My dad loved O'Reilly. He was a white Christian attorney who grew up in LA in the 40s and 50s. As Los Angeles became a melting pot in the 60s and beyond, many of the wealthier old guard white families retreated to their higher-priced suburbs and looked scornfully as California and the rest of the country changed. O'Reilly and my dad both suffered from classic racism. They look at the successful in their own race and compared them to the unsuccessful in other races. What is damning about O'Reilly though, is that he exploited and profited from the fear in his own race and the misery of the others.

Then racism will cease to exist along with oldguard fathers.
