The City of Lost Children (1997) is loosely based on a Fantastic French film (1995) of the same name, staring a Very, Very young Ron Perlman, that not many people saw either.
I remember playing a demo of Z and really enjoying it even though I'm normally terrible at strategy games. Always meant to get the full game but never got round to it. The first PS1 game I got and one I never hear anyone talk about is Firo and Klawd. It's a fun little isometric shooter where you can choose your route to the end. It's a very early PS1 game and never released in North America.
I used to play MTV Snowboarding a LOT! I found the controls to be better than Cool Boarders. I recently went to Japan and went to the retro game shops in Akihabara. It was like a different planet. A totally different gaming library for the PS1.
The sub one, I’d be willing to bet it started life as a space shooter, but hardware limitations required the super-short draw distance, so they switched it to underwater where they could shorten the draw distance and have it make sense in-game.
Libero grande ended up as total football .. a very unique idea at the time where you could be just one player on the pitch and had to stay onside, generally be not shit or you'd get the sack .. it was really before it's time.
Hi Gemma. Great video once again. I gave you that Libero Grande game at the OLL'23. I had the demos from the Official PlayStation Magazine for most of these games except for the Contra game. A lot of reviewers gave the Contra game poor reviews because of the difficulty and the camera angles too, but it is one I'm gonna try out. Cheers!
8 PlayStation games to every Saturn game 😮. When I saw the footage for Critical Depth I was expecting a blue woman's face to appear and say "Where did you learn to dive? "
Great dig at these hidden gems to look out for thanks Gebs, I do know a few hidden gems you may or may not know of them so here goes. Divers dream is amazing I have this and brings back so many memories♥️🌟 Cardinal syn 40 winks Destrega Nightmare creatures 1+2 Kula world Hybrid Kings field
Didn't see the CEX price pop up for Live Wire. Couldn't see it on their site either, but looks to go only couple quid loose or tenners boxed on ebay. I've not played that so will check it out on emu first, i quite like puzzle games, Kurushi being one of my pld favourites on PS1
I've got Riot, Divers Dream and the city of lost children. I also have these 10: Aquanauts holiday, No one can stop Mr domino, Koudelka, Eternal eyes, 40 winks, Dracula 2, Mary kings riding star, Mort the chicken, Beyond the beyond, Inspector gadgets gadget maze.
Only one I've herd of was city of lost children, always remember the line, show me the wayy to go home. I'm cold and I want a cup of tea! 😅 also, it was based on a film with Ron Pearlman, which was just as obscure as the game.
Can anyone recommend a hdmi cable adapter for a ps2 that'll work on a new Philips TV? I've tried 2 already and everytime I load a ps1 game the screen goes blank!
Heard of most of these, only really played MTV Snowboarding and LiberoGrande. For something similar to Riot except much more violent, give Dead Ball Zone a try. It's a bit easier to control than Riot looked, and you have a small selection of weapons that can be used during a match (exploding ball, gun and chainsaw).
Hi Gebs loving the videos keep the hard work up. Not only am I a retro gamer but also an Artist and I'm currently working on an A1 size painting of a dreamcast robot if your interested? It's still working progress but if interested please let us know. 🙏
Indeed haven't played any of these. The MTV snowboarding, the football game and the underwater diver games look most interesting. So far I don't actually have any full football games, just couple of demos or videos of This is Football, FIFA2000 and Ronaldo V Football games around 1999-2000 on Official Playstation Magazine cover cd's. Played any of these?
8000, huh? I remember owning 34 PS1 games in 2000, that's not even 50 games. My fav. back in 2000 was Metal Gear Solid and 2nd fav. was (and actually still is) Final Fantasy 8. I still play lots of FF8 and remember some cool tricks, which I learned 20+ years ago. You got some cool games here and I don't think I've never heard of them.
2 things. 1. Ten games I don't think you played (I'm assuming you meant on ps1) Ps1 - crisis city - destrega - Felony 11-79 - ray tracers - vs - deep freeze - 1 on 1 - evil zone - kensei sacred fist - no one can stop Mr. Domino And 2. I dated a British girl for a year and a half and she HATED video games. Felt like a NES tried to kill her dad or something. Hated when I gamed with my friends or bought a game and would make a fuss if she came home and I wanted to unwind playing a rpg. Point is, I'm happy to see a gamer/collector like yourself
You have a PC, why not just emulate PS1? It's so much better than original hardware, upscaled graphics, 60hz US versions and you don't run the risk of damaging PS1 discs, cases or manuals

Eight THOUSAND PS1 titles‽? Makes collecting a bit more daunting than for some other consoles, eh?
Only if you are going for a complete library
Haha crazy right!
@@TheGebs24 The PS1 console corp. doesn't have a mascot.
@@TheGebs24 Are u a Lara Croft ¿ impersonator ¿ ( raider ) 🧗♀️ 🙃 😊
8000 ? 😳 you better start building a house 🤣❤️❤️❤️
Never heard of any of these before 😮
As always brev you are shining a light on games that need to be talked about more
❤❤❤
Thanks lovely. It amazes me at how many games we’ve not heard of 🤯🤯❤️❤️
Yessss!!!!!! Critical depth is one of my favorites. Its literally made by the twisted metal 2 devs. So under rated

You need to get "Z" dude

I recently went to Japan and went to the retro game shops in Akihabara. It was like a different planet. A totally different gaming library for the PS1.
That’s interesting. Do you think you’d find the controls janky or smooth nowadays?
And OMG Japan 🇯🇵 🎉
@@TheGebs24 I think they'll still feel smooth to me. I'm planning on buying it maybe next month 😅

awesome video gemma!!!!!!!
Love your channel, looking to get into retro gaming. Please do a video on a newbies guide on getting into retro gaming😁😁
Heard of Contra on ps1. The rest I haven't seen before. Some blinding games on Japanese ps1 which are hard to come by but also awesome.
MTV snowboarding had a killer soundtrack, if you're the right age :)

1080 for the n64 in the 90s was insanely better than cool boarders.
Riot (UK) is known under the name Professional Underground League of Pain.
I spent many many hours on "Z" one hell of a game.
I've always thought it was pronounced Leeb-er-oh Gron-day. But don't quote me on that 😬
It probably is to be fair 🤣🤣
