How powerful is the G82 M4 CSL? Dyno test vs G80 M3 RWD

- BMW claim the M4 CSL makes 543HP, but having driven it for nearly 3000 miles it feels a bit more powerful than that, much more like what a Stage 1 tune would be making!
But just how powerful is it? We head to the dyno to find out if BMW have once again underrated the CSL.
We also compare this graph to a RWD G80 M3 Competition to see how the two differ in power and shape of the graph.

My absolute dream car along with the M4 GTS 🇬🇧👍🇬🇧👍
It would be great to see results from a compmay that actaully knows how to strap down a car on a dyno, never seen a car climb off the rollers so much and still think those are acceptable numbers to use
Such a well put, informative video.
Impressive
M4 CSL with JB4/ e33 Flex Fuel kit/ X-pipe with race cats/gapped plugs and performance coil packs:
Most Engine Power: 756 Crank HP
Most Wheel Power: 645 HP
Most Torque: 621.5 @4200 RPM
Wow wasn't expecting that much of an increase
Nice numbers. Did you ever get your own dyno install completed?
Great numbers. However, the real takeaway for me was the amazing rear light clusters. They look fantastic.
I'm very tempted to put my F87 M2 Comp on a dyno to see how accurate the BMW-stated power and torque figures are.
I'm confident Imran@evolve could find easily another 60 or 70 horses under that hood without too much effort
We see around 20hp more on our Stage 1 ECU tune, the OPF in the exhaust is the limiting factor really to not damage it, BMW have pushed the CSL pretty far within the limits of the exhaust restriction.
Good numbers.
So how do we think they increased the power? Timing, boost or just simply adjusting the limits ie throttle control?
580+, thats just mental !!
I thought you guys, we're building your own dyno cell at Evolve HQ? 🤔
Every (turbo) car will get way more power when it is cold. You should dyno them when it is 40 degrees. I bet It will pretty much match the factory spec. Probably will still be over 10-15 hp depending on many factors
Curious where the G87 M2 would look like added to this graph
The curve looks like the CSL simply has a larger hotside on the turbos.
Engine hardware wise the CSL is identical to the base car.
Who's going to be the first to put the manhart powerbox on a CSL. Supposed to take it from the stock 543hp to 700hp
HP and torque curves should cross at 5250 RPM. How did you move that point to 6260 RPM.
Internet myth. That only happens when the Y and X axis are the same scale. It's completely irrelevant
Do the downpipes with Eventuri intakes, let that beast breath properly to unleash its true power 😎
And blow the warranty on a limited edition £150k car.
@@beastofackworth true car nuts don’t care about warranty 😁
Bmw being bmw as per usual
No they just advertise the power a car can make regardless of fuel quality and environmental conditions. Better quality fuel…cooler climate…more power.
40 hp more, not all the dyno test are the same. Anyway for 40hp more, I only can say thank you bmw for giving me more for the money
Your new Dyno is taking 10 years to finish. I seen a few people fit the same be quick time.
M4 csl is rated at 550hp stock tho, not 540..
543hp it’s rated for in the UK
@@EvolveAutomotive hmm okay. 550 in germany and other european countries.
its the same amount of horsepower but Europe uses different measuring systems for power output. it's the same HP.@@Aizman87
Why do Europeans put “crank” numbers? How much power is reaching the tire?? THAT is what matters. Not what ever drivetrain percentage loss is being GUESSED, at the dyno,
Not really....manufactures Dyno each gear and give avarage aggregate .... Tuners pull in 4th...which is peaky and revs high...if they pulled in second gear, the power would be smidge on 600horse
You’re clueless
Lol🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Dyno in 2nd gear🤔 WTF😂😂😂
Do you know how Dyno testing works?
1st
£220 per hp BARGAIN ❤😂
