Peace and quiet...beautiful scenery ...you are talking my kind of place...exploring off the beaten path....that landscape...GLORIOUS, wishing you a wonderful year ahead...filled with much exploration and many blessings...thanks for sharing your travels with us...Happy Belated Birthday Kim!
Happy belated birthday, Kim! I've only been to Scotland once. My friend and I spent a week around Inverness and the Highlands a few years ago, and we loved it. Seeing your videos certainly makes me want to come back, and the northern part of Skye is now on my bucket list.
Wow now I know how you stay so slim and so fit, it is all that hiking, thanks again for the tour of Skye, now I really have to go and visit, also happy Easter and birthday late wishes. All best from sunny Bahamas
please learn to drive properly, be aware when pointing your camera there at not local people in the shot whose permission you haven`t asked for in taking the picture, learn to change a tyre on your car, don`t just stop your car and get out for a picture in the middle of the road, AND remember this is someones home not a "museum" be polite and don`t just ignore folk who live here. All these things are regularly ignored and make life quite unpleasant for us when people visit who have no idea what ti takes to keep our culture alive and kicking, people have to live, work and play here. Please remember that when 60,000 uninvited guests arrive on our island every day.
@@roybennett206 Thanks for your advice, I go on bike not a car hope it doesn't affect the local life that much and I shoot landscape mostly. I appreciate the local people's effort for keeping their traditional culture alive and understand the potential conflict between tourism and the tranquility of local people's life in the island. Hope there will be some balance and compromise in between.
Happy Easter to you, my cheering Sunday visitor. I'm glad you had a great birthday in a beautiful location. I have happy memories of Sleat, and of gardens at Armadale, if I remember correctly (older brain sometimes merges memories of places seen on a tour, but I am sure there are beautiful garden and wooded walks there). .
yep fly a drone over my home without permission and film my children without consent ? , can I do the same to you ? This is our home not a fantasy from a film set.
@@roybennett206 I don't own a drone Roy for these exact reasons. Equally for photographing cliffs etc away from houses, they do allow for interesting images or documentation of the land. 100% agree that permission should be obtained from land owners first though and things should be done ethically or by trained professional drone piolets.
@@roybennett206 Hi Roy. Privacy is definitely a concern for everyone! And just like many things in life, it is not the technology that is at fault, but the people 'driving' it. Most drone pilots, like most land-based photographers, want to respect people's privacy, at the same time sharing our beautiful world and the people in it. Respect is the key. I for one strive to adhere to that principle, and if you watch any of the videos on my channel, I hope you will see this. Thank you for comment and I hope you have a great day.
@@DonJoyce Yes, no doubt you do, but someone else reading your comment will take it that it is a "cool" thing to fly a drone over the area, its already been done to us without our consent during the season, and no I couldn`t see who was doing it. So the moment one person states it is "screaming out for" then all the numpties who see those kind of comment , hop on the bandwagon. Again an area of activity that has been opened up woithout anyone thinking through the consequences. We as a species open to many pandoras boxes without thinking of what happens afterwards.
Rather informative video in good ways... as in the sun was out shining like it should be at times more often than not. As with the whole of the rest of life and living, getting off the beaten path (in your case, in conjunction with your partner) is a healthy thing psychologically/mentally. Beyond that, enjoy your youth and treat it with respect... for there will come a time when those hikes will take quite a bit of time longer (lol) :)
Gerard there are no "off the beaten paths" anymore they all the paths are now beaten to death, I know I live here and these videos just increase the problem. 60,000 visitors a day to an island of 10,000 residents.
@@roybennett206 equally Roy, a lot of the businesses on skye wouldn't survive without tourists. Things have boomed in recent years and many iconic spots have been over trodden which is a real shame and problem. I was trying to showcase in this video that there is more to skye than the old man of storr, quiraing etc. There is a lot being done to help the island deal with the volume of tourists but also tourist numbers are set to drop this year as many have heard of the overcrowding etc. It certainly is a heated debate with valid arguments on both sides. All I aim to do on this channel is inspire people to get outdoors, enjoy nature, increase mental wellbeing and show how stunning our country is. We are very privileged to live here 😊 of course tourism can come with its problems (as does many things in life). It does allow many locals to survive in remote locations though by offering tourists accommodation, activities and experiences.
@@kimgrantphotography Well Kim actually the numbers aren`t dropping, quite the opposite in fact, we are now headed for a year round season, so no "off season" for us anymore. Again this where the reality for us trumps what you are being told. I know I live here, the season started six weeks earlier and for the first winter ever we had tourists all through the winter so much for our "rest" period, even that is being taken away, tour buses in December etc etc, and these communities survived before tourism. There are other ways of surviving without tourism but they get squeezed out by tourism.
@@witcheater Gerard No I don`t hate, you have used the usual pushback gambit and no I am not an isolationist, the usual incorrect assumptions from a tourist and might i guess possibly a city dweller. So I cannot vent my anger if I do have any? I have the same right to express myself as you have, you tube is a public channel if it gets dissenting views to yours you cannot complain, in fact it gives you an opportunity to revisit your ethics and think about how much you really do love the countryside, like going and living in it and contributing properly if you don`t already. I am not angry, As usual any pushback against "lovers of the countryside" is characterised as anger and unpleasantness, which is untruthful, disrespectful, demeaning and has the effect of marginalising any dissenting comments, in fact it only widens further the divide between those of us who have no voice in your choices and cannot criticise tourists and the tourists right to do as they please socially speaking, this is my home and increasingly visitors are not welcome precisely becuase of this approach, you are not entitled to invade my home without asking me first, I cannot do the same to you nor would I. I have seen many posts from channels such as this who forget there are hundreds of thousands of tourists who profess to "love the countryside" and make a virtue of "protecting" it forgetting of course that you are the very people promoting how cool and attractive it is to everyone else, we are the ones who protect it daily. By definition the word tourist gives it away, you come tour and go away, you contribute nothing to the care of the elderly, community building work which is difficult, time consuming requires long term commitment years in fact and multi skills emotional investment approach. Come live, work and play here for several years and see it from our side of the coin. Tourists by definition come, look, take up our time and then just go away leaving us to deal with the hidden effects of disruption from "visitors". Shutting down dissenting views does make fold angry be careful of your approach. I am sure you think you are a "nice" person, but so does every other tourist who blames the "other tourists" for the problems tourism causes seefeministglobetrotter.com/negative-impacts-tourism/ medium.com/live-your-life-on-purpose/when-tourists-love-the-city-not-people-the-dark-side-of-tourism-97bb20182f19 . Then come back to me and give me a proposal that shows we can both live in harmony, one where I can take pleasure is showing you our way of life and two one where you can actually feel ethically satisfied and your desires met. Sadly this would involve limiting some folks choice ie saying we are full up, try saying that to someone nowadays. I do have solutions they are not ones most tourists want to hear because it involves limits, the word "no" and "no you cant`t have just what you want, when you want it.
Never tire of seeing more shots of Skye. Was the "old castle" in fact Duntulm, variously belonging to the McLeods and McDonalds (and site of tragedies and outrages both accidental and deliberate)? One point, as the Jacobite song says, " Carry the lad that's born to be King, Over the sea to Skye", not "from" Skye. They embarked from S. Uist, Outer Hebrides. Happy Easter and Happy Birthday.
Happy Birthday to you! What a great place to spend the day - beautiful sites. Thanks, Kim for letting us tag along.

Love Skye you shown some new places nice work.
Now that it’s official, and not just sometime in the indefinite future, happy birthday! Wonderful place to spend it.

Happy birthday Kim, beautiful place, went there a few years ago now managed to see Otters and white tailed Eagles [briefly].
Happy birthday, and what a lovely location to spend it in!

I believe there is too. Unfortunately I never had time to find or explore them but hopefully one day! It's a stunning area.
We are birthday twins! Happy late Birthday!

happy birthday!!
I'm originally from Texas and it is really flat there. I didn't realize it but I got a little vertigo just looking off the cliffs there =p
Wow!
Happy birthday, Kim! And lovely that the weather was warm enough to lose the toque and mitts! That area is screaming for some drone photography!!!
You'll have to visit with your drone! You certainly would get some epic shots!
