- Revolution and love in the shadow of the guillotine.
"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair" - this is how Charles Dickens begins his extraordinary tale. These words foreshadow the dramatic events presented with epic scope.
Paris and London on the eve of the French Revolution. This turbulent period is shown through the prism of the fates of a young French aristocrat, an unjustly imprisoned doctor, his daughter, and an English lawyer. After eighteen years spent in the Bastille, Dr. Manette is released. Fortunately, now on English soil, he begins a second life alongside his daughter Lucie. There, the paths of two men intersect: Charles Darnay, who fled from France, and Sydney Carton, a brilliant lawyer, a loner and a drunkard, who will be united by their love for one woman - the doctor's daughter. Due to a dramatic turn of events, the heroes are forced to leave the quiet streets of London and come to Paris under the rule of bloody terror. Caught up in the whirlwind of events, they will be put to a severe test...

How can anyone enjoy the book???? Every two minutes there’s a dam advert! I’m done and out…..
Thank GOD for a reader with a clear and articulate voice. And thank you to the reader also.
You don't want a reader that talksh like thish?
Agree his speech is clear. However, his rhythm and flow was a bit weird, I though, especially in passages of dialog between characters. Just ... weird.
Another superb reading by Arthur Lane, a dark tale but such was the times, glad to be living in 2024.
Great audio, great story... Sadly you tube ads every 5 minutes spoiled it to point I gave up and used another streaming service to listen to it.... And paying to remove ads does not stop it... At front of audiobook, OK I accept, maybe after an hour, but every 5 mins....😢
It’s not the channel it’s YT. Some days I get almost nothing and other days on the same channels I get one every 3-5 minutes
Such a wonderful reader!! Immortal author. What a combination! Thank you for the reading.

Too often, irritating ads break the flow making this beautiful piece impossible to continue. Left sadly 😢.

Oh and thanks dude for reading
Love, love, love
an old favorite. thanks
Kind of them to fit a bit of the story in round the adverts.
It costs about 33cent per day bro for premium are you that poor 😂
@@Kal_el80 I didn’t become a multimillionaire by wasting my money 😂😂😂😂😂
@@Kal_el80that's 200 g of oats. 700 kcal. About 1/4th of what I need in a day, though I sure don't live on oats alone. Yeah I am kinda poor. And when I'm not Id rather be somewhat frugal so I can afford more necessities.
If the ads bother you, listen to something else.
30s in and I get 1hr 30min ad. Later
❤ A fine reader you are Arthur Lane!

Hahaha tell me about it. Are you a native speaker of English?
800th like.
I didn't even get past 15 minutes
Too many ads bro… bummed cuz I really wanted to listen 😢
See if your library has hoopla, you get a certain number of “borrows” per month (depends on your library) but they have audio books and movies with no ads. Same with Kanopy (just movies for them) which has an amazing collection.

Srilanka ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Recalled to life?
Ms. Manettes father went missing, they thought he died but the Russians were able to make ppl disappear. He was in a prison until they released him and Mr Lori found him and reunited him with his daughter. This recalled to life. Brought back from the "dead"
@@Random_Clips-3r thanks
Had to stop listening…great story being continually ruined by adverts SHAME
Too many commercials.

Charles dickens version of the French revolution is so juvenile and more importantly historically inaccurate..oh well he was a true talent but a lousy truth teller😊 kinda like an older version of oliver stone..##entertainmentNOThistory 😮
Perfect comparison.
Why thank you 😊...i thought i was a lone voice in the vast wilderness ❤?🎉?@@ItsKrma00
He wrote fiction
OK, so which bits of this fictional story did you mistake for its intention to be an historical treatise and scholarly work? There are really only passing mentions here and there of the revolution itself, you know...
