Superkart - Hockenheim Race 1 - ESS 2013

- Video is from the first race of the year in the European Superkart Series on the 6th of April 2013.
I started third and finished second.
someone overtakes during yellow flags/safetycar, comment if you see who ;-)
The Superkart I drive has a 250 ccm, 2 stroke, 2 cylinder, PVP engine.
Chassis is also made by PVP. The kart has aprox. 100 HP and does around 250 km/h as topspeed.
Video is made with Trackvision software, Gopro2 camera and AIM datalogger.
Thanks again for putting up the awesome videos Henrik. You are a very smooth, patient and calculating racer, traits which would serve you well in big cars (as you know)! Keep racing! The American's love you too!

7 years in kz2. 12 years in other classes before that. now I am on my third superkart year :-)
Hi FreeRiderBoats, Yes we do have a clutch (mine is behind the steering wheel as a hand clutch) but we do not use it for shifting gears. We have quickshift (ignition kill) that allows to shift gear with full open throttle. Downshift is done also without using the clutch. Clutch is only for starting the Superkart.

Excellent drive! Fair as always, unlike number 2 who overtakes under waved yellows but hey that's racing! You got him in the end which was justice. Good luck with the rest of the season Henrik.

Hi, the kart goes from 0-100 kph on around 2,3 sek, topspeed is around 250 kph. Laptimes are something like a formula renault 2.0 newest edition with 7 speed gearbox. GT3 cars we eat for lunch. don't know about the rest.

I understand why you're at the top of the table.
front pipe is more insulated then the rear pipe to compensate for the wind blowing directly on the front pipe. you can do a coverpiece in fiberglass that does the same work for the front pipe.
It is allowed but i think that it will be a bigger handicap then a benefit. The mirrors would bounce around because of the vibrations so you wont se anything in the mirrors. There would also be a significant wind resistence slowing you down on top speed.

oh hell, me again....... ;-) you do know youre insane right? After that though, I must say that your patience and skill is simply awesome to watch. My gut tightens up just watching the vid's... Is it just me? This makes F1 look like childs' play, no doubt I can count times so I see which is faster, and it vids looking faster the lower you are to the ground, but, I still cannot refrain, based on safety, telling you that you nuts! ;-) AND, I love every moment of it! hard to say. depends very much on the motor you choose . pvp kart is something like 20.000 euro + vat for new. used is around half price
both versions are available. i use hand clutch.
PS. Henrik - the rear camera is not good: all of your racer audience can already know where your competitors are from the momentum of the pass...my vote is to only show the forward view in your videos (as you did last year). This most completely shows the racing viewpoint. And thanks again for sharing this, and congrat's on your win in Euro Superkart!
Henrik - we love your videos, thanks for sharing them. What is the Euro Superkart race schedule for 2013? Your American fans want to enjoy your success at this extreme level of karting which has faded away from America (for now - maybe you can help bring it back?...) Hi Ivan, its hard to pick out a favorite track since there are many i haven't tried yet. I like MagnyCours, Lemans, Hockenheim, Assen, but I hear that Dijon should also be very good because of the difference in elevation on the track.
This year i do a little bit of Rotax DD2 besides Superkart, otheryears I have driven KZ2.
for me the next races will be Snetterton 12-14 July, Assen 2-4 August, Magny Cours 6-8 September, Le Mans 25-27 Oktober.

Hi Scott, i have no idea about what the Mychron 3 can do, but you need to be able to eksport your data in excel format and then use a program called trackvision (google it).
Love GoPro 2, using it as well. By the way, Henrik, do you have any personal favourite circuit of them all? Do you race in any other lower classes (e.g. Rotax MAX)?
Hi Wang, normally we run with 102 octane fuel. I dont know what you have available? you can use 99 octane if you add some octane booster.

please don't think i'm an idiot for asking this, your videos are the first i've seen of this type or racing. they look insane. they look way faster than most types of auto racing. just wondering if they're as fast as they look on lap times. on a track without a lot of long straights, they must be a lot faster than like a Nissan GTR, right? what about a Le Mans car? or a Super GT JGTC car? or one of the FIA GT2 cars? thanks
Just as a reference, the fastest qualifying DTM car did 1:35.9s, this month on the same track. Crazy.

I mistakenly thought you used a SmartyCam written in my earlier comment. Read your earlier comment that it was a GoPro 2. How was the technical / GPS overlay done? I currently have a MyChron 3. If MyChron 4 is required, what other accessories would be needed? Scott Elkes, U.S.A. (1960skart)
