- This Video shows a live playing real-to-real tape-machine (Uher 263 Variocord ~1970) with rare Roots Reggae and Rocksteady tracks from the 60ties and 70ties. The Tape is playing with 19cm/s this is the highest speed on this machine and better for audio quality.

Not just Europe. We're all over, in most every country. As far as I'm concerned, this is the best music in the world. I don't have words to properly express what this music is to me--so much excellent music, all from this little island ... it never ceases to astound me. And it's not just the music itself, but core innovations that have proliferated throughout music worldwide, such as the very concept of a remix itself. Other aspects of reggae, e.g. clash, have a common African origin, but the specific practice of cutting out the vocals, emphasizing the rhythm and bass, and then bringing them back, often with echoes, etc. (dub) is specifically Jamaican. I have spent a lot of time looking, and i cannot find any instances of this that predate what King Tubby and Lee Perry were doing. Such remixes are so common now that it's easy to take their existence for granted, but to me this is just astounding.

My friend sent me a link here and I'm absolutely loving it - I'm more into Soul than this (although of course they have a lot in common, especially the earlier stuff) but I love the old analog equipment, have a UHER myself too (a Royal Deluxe). I had been thinking about taking it out of storage (this stuff needs to work, otherwise it dies) and now I definitely will. Keep it up!

I've been listening to reggae since i was 16 20odd years ago and I've never even come across this shit before :-)) I've probably spent like $100 of extra data on my mobile phone plan just blasting that roots reggae tape (i found on your channel about a year ago man) through my mobile phone youtube app on my car sound system. Hello! Very cool! I also have an old Astra 110 C 1 tape recorder made in the USSR. I want to record some tracks on cassettes and put them in the same way. Please tell me how you did it. Just put the camera down and recorded? Or is the sound already recorded after the video?
