I received a punch needle for my birthday, and hadn't searched how to use it, I just assumed I'd need to purchase materials other than what I have for knitting. This is the first time I'm seeing how it is used. I really like what you've done.
I know you free style drew this design but it’s great and I would love to do one like this....If you are selling the design, please let me know. I just didn’t see a link for it. Thanks for doing these two videos. My husband just refashioned an old side table into a frame for punching and I was going to buy the gripper strips but the nail tack strip with the foam around is a more viable option for my budget.
I don’t have a link to my design. But feel free to copy my design and draw on a piece of paper with a sharpie. I talk about transferring designs in part 1. Great that you have a handy husband to make a frame for you. Yes, the nail tack strip is much cheaper and it works fine.
If you know the side you are punching on is the back side then WY would you push the ends of the threads to the front, creating extra work to perfectly cut the there? Would it not be easier to leave them on the back?
NOTE: Oxford Punch Needles (8, 9 Regular) that make longer loops (more height) will use more yarn and not punch as many loops per yard as the #10 Regular Punch Needle (1 yd (.91 m) = approx. 6.5" (16.50 cm) or the #14 Fine Punch Needle. (the taller the loop, the less distance your 1 yard of yarn will travel)
Translation: Hi ! The landscape is very beautiful, I want to buy those magic needles, from Chile 2 San Pedro de Atacama Region ¡Hola en Chile! ¡Gracias y gracias por vernos! Las agujas de perforación son divertidas de usar. Hello in Chili! Thank you and thanks for watching! Punch needles are fun to use.
A few things to watch for. 1. Is your monk cloth really pulled tight on your frame. It has to be tight like a drum. 2. Do not lift your needle too high off of the monk cloth or you will pull out your loops. Just drag your needle on top to form the next loop. 3. Make sure your yarn is the right size and not too tight in your punch needle. 4. Make sure your wool is nice and loose and not pulling from the ball of yarn.
My sister is 5 years older and she always said to me when I was younger that I will have to use my right hand in school but by the time I got to school they had changed the rules and I was allowed to use my left hand. Crazy world!
Super lesson! I'm waiting for my punch needle to arrive! Your finished piece is beautiful!
Thanks so much! Excited for you to get started!

It’s actually better to push the ends through to the correct side as it helps to thicken the pile. But I get what you are saying.

¡Hola en Chile! ¡Gracias y gracias por vernos! Las agujas de perforación son divertidas de usar.
Hello in Chili! Thank you and thanks for watching! Punch needles are fun to use.
if you prefer the non loop side, than it's called punch embroidery
Thanks Vicki for letting everyone know the terminology.
Hello, my loops do not stay, what now?
A few things to watch for.
1. Is your monk cloth really pulled tight on your frame. It has to be tight like a drum.
2. Do not lift your needle too high off of the monk cloth or you will pull out your loops. Just drag your needle on top to form the next loop.
3. Make sure your yarn is the right size and not too tight in your punch needle.
4. Make sure your wool is nice and loose and not pulling from the ball of yarn.
were you forced to use your right (non dominant hand) in school? I wouldn't have that much dexterity with my non dominant hand!
My sister is 5 years older and she always said to me when I was younger that I will have to use my right hand in school but by the time I got to school they had changed the rules and I was allowed to use my left hand. Crazy world!
Do you sell this pattern?
No I don’t have a pattern to sell.
