Isn't this a wonderful time of year when the garden starts to slowly wake up, but the cutting back and discovering all the new growth points make for such a satisfying feeling with a clean bed!? I love it and miss my garden so much ❤
Why no garden? Move?
@@riverc3171 yes. 🙂 but it was fun while it lasted and I now garden 'here' 🥰
No growth here in Upstate NY!! LOL
I need to move!!
I wanted to tell you what a pleasure it is to work with your customer service on the store! Truly helpful and professional! I felt I got an extra bonus and pleasure by talking to Ken. Again thank you for your videos, your store and now your customer service. Top notch all the way around. I look forward to buying more from your store to fill my gardening needs all in one spot. Thank you.
Good morning everyone! What a beautiful l day! Being ambushed by Samantha is a plus! 💖Cleaning the garden is one of the most satisfying things! Have a blessed day 🙏💞🤗💞
Morning 😊
Laura, you are a jewel! I love the way you patiently stop whatever you’re doing to include or encourage Benjamin and Samantha.
Exactly what I was thinking. Making your child know they are more important than anything.❤
I know I wasn't the only one waiting for the cut back of that lavender ,so satisfying.
What a clear crisp video! I have been watching for years, I still can't tell what the difference is in the cameras. This one is a keeper! I felt like I was standing right there chatting with you !
Did y'all get a new camera? The video looks almost 3D! My whole family enjoys your videos so much. We love starting our day with Miss Laura😊
Agreed. The video quality was amazing today. Almost felt like I could touch the plants. I love it.
I thought it seemed like the camera was switched halfway through as the picture was suddenly amazing!
I noticed too!
Laura, this is what I miss so much! Watching you work on your garden. We learn so much. Yes it is nice to watch the new beds being built, but seeing you still caring about the old stuff.
New camera? You’re almost 3D. Love watching you clean up. It’s so satisfying. ❤
isn't it fun getting out and seeing spring just peeking up through the dirt?? i've been cutting my lavender back ever since i saw that first video you did, and it loves it.. comes back so pretty and vibrant... Samantha is just too cute - i remember when Benjamin would come out and show you how fast he was, too! 💞 spring is in the air and cleanup feels so good!! 🥰❤thanks for the video!! 🥰❤
Children and cats, they just add another layer of awesomeness to your videos! Thank you for letting us share in them.
I’ve waited over a year for this lavender video! 🎉 It’s so great to see how it looks “melted” so I know what to look for and know that’s normal 😅 That’s my favorite edging of yours and look for it all the time in videos. It’s gorgeous!!! I am doing this up my entryway. Thanks for the inspiration Laura!!
I do too. So satisfying. I could almost smell the lovely ness.
Seeing you clean out the flower beds brings a smile to my face.😊 I know soon all your beautiful flowers or more beautiful flowers that you have planted will be in bloom. 😊
Luv cleanup days in the gardens and your lil helper is a cutie patootie 💜💚
That lavender cleanup montage was so satisfying and meditative to watch.
This camera is amazing!! I feel like I am actually in your garden.❤
A blessed and good evening to all!
Thank you, you too!
Just when I thought I might get away with a little pregarden clean up, we got hit in Minnesota! So much snow! Unseasonably warm and snow free for most of this year. Now it looks more like I'm used to, but boy am I missing the hint of spring!! Soon!!
You inspired my munstead lavender hedge outside of my garden. Started from seed and has survived 3 polar vortex cold winters. I cut all the way back every spring. I planted over landscape tarp, 2-3inches of pea rock, black dirt, to a mound and converted with more tarp, cut an x, planted 2nd year in the row and covered with river rock. We planted about 18" apart so they're pretty tight, but they're beautiful and so healthy! Everyone thinks I'm great at gardening because of my lavender! I'm really not! I just send them to your channel! 😂 thank you for the wonderful content, Laura. Truly, our whole family loves your work and we learn so much. Thank you! Happy gardening!
Even your dump out in the dirtlands is beautiful. You have red, green, yellow, and blue. That's taking romancing the ordinary to a whole new level, Laura .😂
Laura it’s easy to do gardening when you love what you do. It’s a pleasure to watch you tending to your garden. I also have a large garden people say that is a lot of work I say No I love what I do. It’s relaxing and so satisfying. Have a great growing season.
I think it's a form of therapy !!
Samantha was on a mission Today ...What a Joy !!! To see them play being happy 😊 ✔
Laura w Polsce też taka pogoda i mamy powrót do ogrodu. Podziwiam Twoją i Waszą pracę . Jak miło Cię oglądać w tej przsstrzeni tak pięknie utworzonej z takim poświęceniem. Serdecznie Was pozdrawiam i dziękuję za ten obraz i przekaz.
(question below) I've decided to start commenting after watching for years. It's SO helpful for me to watch because I am quite close to your location but I find we are about 2 weeks behind you zone 5b. So I always get a 2week-month notice when it's time to: prune my lavender! Lol
I was inspired to plant a lavender hedge myself a few years back. However last winter they all died :( it was the variety Grosso Lavender. We had a cold snap in spring and I think that's what did it. There was 20 of them! All gone. Now I've gone with Salvia, Echinacea and Cats Pajamas Nepata. Its amazing now and I love it even more.
Please don't feel like your repetitive videos on gardening are not wanted. Personally for me it's extremely satisfying. I had a baby 7 months ago and a rough pregnancy. So I wasn't able to garden last year at all. And this year with a 7 month old you can imagine also that I probably won't have much time either. So to see you get to it and tackling mundane gardening projects is just sooooo satisfying!!!!
I especially enjoy watching your recap videos. It makes me feel a part of your conversations. Like we are all just sipping tea and chatting together. I love listening to you and Aaron talk about stuff hahaha
We are heading on vacation this weekend and traveling your direction. I looked up Andrew seeds to see if we could visit it. Unfortunately it's still too far away. Too bad. We live in Creston BC Canada. Which is 15 minutes from the Idaho border. It's too bad I can never participate in the giveaways but I understand.
Question: Do you ever have "one of those days" when you don't enjoy your workday (setting up cameras and narrating your every move)? Because if you do, I cannot tell! You are delightful to watch every time and have a level of excitement that is contagious! Thank you for being such a blessing to everyone ❤ (and pushing through if it's hard).
People say you are so amazing in the garden. Which is true. But I just want to point out that you are just as excellent a presenter/vlogger. Quality tv! Well done!
I know i am one of many, but i just love everything about your videos. Your place is just beautiful, so is your family. Kitties included. 😊🐈...cant wait to see what you do with the new property. 🐎🌲🌳
Love all your spring clean up videos. They help to remind me of what needs done and how to do it the cuts and pruning. Thanks for your inspiration!
There is something so satisfying when you cut the lavender.🔥
I loved seeing you take those roses back so hard. It gives me the confidence to do the same with some much loved but entirely too large roses of my own.
The garden is waking up. It's going to be an amazing season. 😊🌿👍🌿🌱☘️
Laura, you are by far the most inspirational UA-cam gardener on the platform. Your energy is contagious! I can't wait to get out there and whip my own garden beds into shape. Looking forward to another fun growing season with Garden Answer.
Samantha is a scene stealer! Always a bonus to see one of the children come they really are the most precious part of the whole garden ❤️ play Laura is such a hard worker I can't believe all that she's accomplished in a day! So healthy! Working with the dirt is a healthy way to live🍀🌼🍂🍁🌱🌿🍃
my favorite thing about your videos is watching for your sweet garden kitties :,)
This is awesome watching you clean up your garden , I’m watching you with a little bit of jealousy because I can’t do any of these things , I had knee replacement surgery . But it’s so delightful watching you and all your projects and how you bring everything to life , thank you ❤🌼🌿🌸
This was my reminder to cut back my lavender. perfect timing because I have planted bulbs inbetween and I don't want them to bloom surrounded by scraggly dead lavender.
An excellent camera used to film this video. Every object is seen in high definition, even the close-up shots were very clear and highly defined. 👍🏾
When you do a video on the climbing roses, will you also include the zephrine roses in that? I appreciate seeing how you handle them against a building type structure. Thanks for all you do!
I'm sooo glad showing us how to trim lavender. I am about to go crazy with the winter. We just got more snow yesterday. Grrrrr. I can't wait to get in the dirt. 💜💜
I think there are a lot of us chomping at the bit to get out in our gardens !!
PROJECT IDEA!
Make a wreath or an arrangement with one of every rose from your property! I bet it would be incredible! Thanks for making every day more enjoyable. I’ve not missed a single video since the beginning! Much love ❤ Justin
Good morning all have a safe and blessed day ❤️
Good morning Laura and family
Once again a day behind but it's OK I get to watch 2 videos. Great clean up on the lavender and roses, I need to clean up my east flower bed that's where I'm putting my lavender. Thank you for sharing as always.
I'm sure you had a great day.🙂👋
I have been following you for years and years but I still learn so much with your videos every time ❤❤😊
Samantha looks so much like your mom! It would be interesting to see a side by side of all of you at her age.
Thank-you for the lavender pruning tips. The woody stems do get rather big and knarled over time. I removed a lavender that had encroached on one of my roses. I have to say though that even the dead growth smells amazing. Had to laugh about getting one load done and that feeling of accomplishment! Same here on smaller scale. Sometimes I'll pop dinner in the oven and the goal is to pull a couple of 5 gallon buckets of weeds.
I remember when you put the lavender plants in. Love, love, love your videos. There is a fourth D if you want to use it. It is called, “Dumb.” These are the branches that get too close to one another and prevent airflow or any other branches you don’t like. 😀
Wow ! I’m going to have to watch this video as soon as the snow melts to get reinspired for my garden clean up. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and tips .
I need to trim my one lonely lavender that survived. Thank you so much for all of the helpful plant information. Those Colette roses grow so prolifically! Can't wait to see you trim those back. I'm so glad Samantha can run around without socks. I wish we could here in the Midwest.
Good morning GA family
It really did clean up nice, that is the joy of gettng ready for Spring. You get ready for all the beautiful flowers that will be blooming soon. Thank you for sharing your tips as always.
Wow! the different camera was easy to notice. This vlog was so enjoyable to watch. Really like this camera!
I think Gardener's supply needs to send you a new pop-up bag. This one has seen better days. Enjoyed the video. As usual. ❤
It looks so nice cleaning all the plants up, trimming and racking the leaves.
We woke up to MORE SNOW today, so I’m enjoying watching this to build some hope for spring! I gave up on lavender 😢. I’ve planted it so many places and tried so many varieties, with no success. They just don’t like my area!
It is amazing how much plant cut back there is in a garden.
My mornings with Laura & coffee. Love your lavender. I see I need to prune lower.
Thank you for all the great information.
Have a beautiful Day.❤❤❤❤
Good morning! I always love cleanup in my landscape! Everything looks tidy and clean. That corner you did looks so fresh.
Good morning!🌻🐝
Oh what a satisfying days work. Makes me long for spring, seeing the new growth peeking out and seeing all the clean and trim plants. I love watching you do these cleanups.
"Necking it down." LOL I've never heard this expression before. I learn something new every time I watch one of your videos. Have a great day!
Why is this is satisfying to watch? I'm not doing any of the work!!
I really hope you guys consider composting now with all the extra space. It would help reduce your carbon footprint not needing to add multiple bags of compost from a manufacturer. Using your own “waste” is such a fulfilling thing and a great way to save money and, just maybe, help out Mother Earth. Thanks for all you do!
Love how things look ready to go for spring once the clean up is finished! Almost like the plants have spring fever as much as we do.
Love, love, love this video! I shared it with my neighbor, who planted lavender in her front flowerbed last year. Since you were so thorough in your pruning instructions, I even offered to help her! 🤪 Thanks for the great lessons you have taught us for YEARS now! 😉
That little brown cat 🐈⬛ grew on Laura. At first it would always swipe at her and now it’s almost always around her. 😂
It’s wonderful to nurture your home as you do! Congratulations on the new property! I love how your shaping your family and children’s lives!
I love your flower bed clean up videos. They are so informative on how to maintain different types of plants and trees. Thank you for doing these types of videos. Question- do you burn your refuse pile or just leave it there through the years?
Just love always cleaning up. It always looks so good and satisfying. I think on the other side of the walk way if you planted both sides all the way down with a beautiful roses how about all David’s Austin’s! Then under plant with annuals. I think it would be stunning. Laura you know how much you love roses and David Austin’s especially!!!
You're such a hard worker
I have been WAITING for this video - I know how to prune lavender, I know how you prune lavender, but it is just so satisfying to see you prune that lovely row of lavender. Thanks Laura!
Love seeing the new property. So many beautiful spots.
Beautiful lavender border ....🌞 neat to see how maintained. 🏠
Lavender is good steamed in hot chocolate, coffee, tea. Healthy aroma
So much fun watching you gardening in February. I am in zone 3 and we are still cold and have snow.
Please do show us when you add extra soil to the pot! Some of my plants in pots need more soil, but I don’t know how to do it and a video is so much better than just reading what to do 😅
Typically our roses go into dormancy at the normal time and I don't really think of it - this winter has been weirdly so warm that it's now the middle of February I have a ton of new leaf buds and all the old leaves!! I de-foliated it a few days ago because I was a little worried about fungal issues but it's so funny, I've never had to even think about it before! (Blooms in November were pretty fun though I wont lie)
Hi Laura! I love the lavender hedge. Thank you so much for sharing!
I would love to know what you do with all the debris you dump. Will you burn it? Use it as mulch? Wait until it turns to dirt? Load it off? Great video. Thank you. The videos where you clean up the garden are my favourite.
I was surprised to see the rose prunings and leaves mixed with the lavender debris - I separate rose debris (including leaves with black spot etc) from ‘compostable’ clippings….. do you sterilise your secateurs between each rose, so as not to transfer bacteria, viruses and other diseases?
Thanks for the good tip on pruning lavender ! I let some of my lavender growing very woody
We are still snowed under in my area but this is my "Light at the end of the snow tunnel"! Just what I needed!! 🌸🌹🌄
The pots by the vegetable garden in the video look back were so beautiful! Got my felco gloves as a Christmas gift from your website. They are the best heavy duty gloves I’ve ever used! I have lots of cacti and long thorns on my citrus trees that always get me but not with these gloves! Thank you so much for the recommendation and for making them available on your website. Loving all the things you all are adding to the store❤
O I love this time of the year but I must say the snail or something in onto my poor little plants. How sweet is Samantha.
So glad I watched this. I havent been lucky with lavender at all
We are supposed to be on the verge of 50 on Saturday, so I am planning to get out and do some cleanup as well!
Hey Laura You have proof that Spring cleaning Is not just inside your house but In your garden as well.
Hi Laura,
If you don’t mind, when you do get a day that you can’t go into the garden, do you mind showing us how you go about your meal planning? Do you look at what you have in your cellar or do you find a meal and then work from there? Thank you.
Samantha Grace was doing her triathlon training. Just need a pool to jump in. 🥰
Thank you, Laura!
My lavender went woody, just forgot to prune it and that was that, I kept it maybe for 2 yrs and said so long. Seeing Samantha running reminding me of yrs ago, I went to see the Grans and the youngest was 4 -5. He had gotten new tennis shoes, ran down the hall and back then told me..."mom said I was so fast, she seen smoke under my feet", he was over the moon 😊
I love watching you clean up….it’s so satisfying! What do you do with the debris you dump on the “dirt lands?” Burn it?
Any suggestions growing lavender from seed? Love your hedge and the whole raised bed space!
Great question!
Winter sowing! Lavender need cold stratification!
So glad to see that you were right about the Lavender surviving "the melon vine take over of 2023" 😅 and I can imagine how amazing it smells! We had several inches of snow in MN on Valentine's Day... our first measurable snow since Halloween. Being a florist, I was glad the snow waited until late afternoon when our deliveries were done!❤ Forcast calls temps in the 40's next week!🎉 Have a great rest of your week!♡
First snow in MN? That’s crazy 😅
@riverc3171 we had a few scattered dustings here and there but it has been an unreal winter with a brown Christmas. I think we are channeling our inner Garden Answer weather!😊
We HAD some really nice weather and I was tempted to go out and do yard work. Today I woke up and there was snow on the ground. I’m glad I waited to start my garden clean up because you NEVER know what the weather is going to be like in my area, I don’t think that we’re going to get sub zero weather anymore this year but you never know. I think leaving the dead foliage helps protect my plants from the extreme weather shifts we have here. I’m just hoping that I can keep the crepe myrtle they JUST sent me alive until I can plant it in the ground this spring. They say this one is hardy to zone 6 which I’m in BUT with it being in a container and not in the ground I’m a little bit worried about it. ❄️🫠💚🙃
The clean up videos are my favorite, making way for the stunning show of flowers to come!!
What will you do with that huge pile of debris?
Love the sweet romance lavender, it’s a definite must in any sunny garden.
In the flashback picture of the lavender in full bloom, can you remind us what was planted in the pots? They look gorgeous with the lavender.
Happy Valentines Day Laura❤
And now today I will go cut back my lavender (phenomenal). Sadly, I did not cut it back in its first year as it did not bloom and I received advice to leave it be, now I have thick woody bases that are very misshaped. I’m going to be heartless and try to reshape as I prune, and see what happens! I’d much prefer to plant Sweet Romance, but apparently it won’t do well in our clay soil, so Phenomenal it is!
Have a wonderful day Laura and crew, enjoy your warmer temps and beautiful weather! ❤
Satisfying, productive video. I loved it when Samantha & Douglas both converged on tge shot.
The quality of this video is 👌🏼. Have you used a different camera to film this? The detail is incredible on the tree bark, the clouds, and the weeping willow - it’s lovely. Thank you.
Good morning everyone! I just love seeing clean up work. So satisfying. Love your videos, Laura!
I love lavender and have to admit it's one of the few plants I have garden envy over in my zone 3.
I grow it as an annual for that reason
Thank you so much you have helped me so much. I feel more confident in taking care of my own garden
Thank you for the lavender tutorial. I need to get after mine now. The butterfly bush was my question. I wait to see what and when you cut and then know what I need to do. I was reluctant to cut my butterfly bush yet not knowing how far to cut back. I see you wacked yours pretty good. Look out , here I come bush😮.
