I think we had the same kind of childhood, I grew up in Grenada 🇬🇩, my Dad was a farmer he worked the land it was hard work, he never made much money. However, we were never hungry. RIP dad.

I'm from the USA and came from mountains of Virginia and we never had that many pigs but I remember pulling weeds for the pigs. They ate all kind of stuff. We fed them pumpkins when they were ripe but we gave them 2 buckets of slop a day. One in morning and one at night. Love watching your video.

I missed this video, Robert! I have some advice for you when you plant the taros next time....dig trenches and fill them with fine and loose soil then plant your taros there. You will have different results. Bigger taros mean more demand in the market. Good to see how you have diversified your farm though.
Taro leaves are also good food for wild boar/pigs, and its a good dish, taro dried leaves and stalks, and the taro bulb cooked with coconut milk, mixed with lemon grass or ginger, meat of the pig and shrimp it delicious. some they only cooked the leaf, but for me i like the young stem and leaves of taro bulbs as well, needs to chop them and dry them under the sun before cooking.

I have some advice for you when you plant the taros next time....dig trenches and fill them with fine and loose soil then plant your taros there. You will have different results. Bigger taros mean more demand in the market.

Still you can use the stem for cooking and taro leaves you can sun dry it for future cooking
Taro leaves are also good food for wild boar/pigs, and its a good dish, taro dried leaves and stalks, and the taro bulb cooked with coconut milk, mixed with lemon grass or ginger, meat of the pig and shrimp it delicious. some they only cooked the leaf, but for me i like the young stem and leaves of taro bulbs as well, needs to chop them and dry them under the sun before cooking.
in northeast india we used to eat that dried leaves taro is also good with fermented pork , beef
