Love the 3D animation of putting the box together
Wow, always been impressed by the output of your boxes but this one is really on a new level!
It would be super cool if you could make a video that dives down a bit more into the technicals of making a box. Like what you think about when choosing the enclosure type and how the dimensions are calculated. There really isn't too much of such on youtube already, especially when it comes to the lesser common box types than just basic 4th orders...
@@HexiBase Just putting this here to join the choir for tutorials :)
hexibase!, (chorus) made some nice tutorials! we want to learn from the best. thank´s for sharing your job with us!.
I also want to chime in on the 'how to design' list. I'd love a talk through of the how's and why's of your decisions on a design like this. There are programs out there to design a box, but they don't discuss the options and the tradeoffs/pro/cons. So yeah, I want to support the idea of videos like that. :)
@@HexiBase Thank you i have been wanting to design more useful enclosures using something other than winISD
I recently discovered a free German audio design software suite called Boxsim. I can't attest to the accuracy of the simulation results, but from the forums I've heard good things about it. Once you put in the T/S parameters and set up a simple Amp-to-Driver "Crossover Network" you can quickly try a bunch of different dimensions/volumes/tuning for the 5 basic enclosure types. In addition to the standard "Frequency Response" tab, I also like the "Max SPL" tab since the right half of the screen shows you the power limit for Xmax. Really cool software, search Boxsim V2.00 and you should find an English download.
My favorite channel based on technicality.
literally the only reason i will buy a 3d printer now, i used to think they were useless and just to print random trinkets for fun but never expected any of your 3d printed enclosures to be so good thanks a lot man keep it up
Audio dynamics has some crazy good deals on pre orders wow. Your videos are my fav man thank you for them. Love bass demos but love the technical just as much
I'm loving these 3d printed sub boxes!
Very good video! I love the fact that you combine audio with 3d printing.
Please keep up the good work!!
Small series 6th orders are very impressive for their size, I made a tiny 4l per chamber with isobariked 5" drivers, rear tuned 50 front tuned 100, and it completely made up for isobarik being less efficient.
Sounds awesome!! Congrats on a great build!!
Dude this is awesome, of all things this is the one video that really got me wanting a 3d printer!
it made me want to buy a plastic box
It just goes to show how much work a well designed box will do. I keep telling this to people that complain about the sound of their sub but they never listen. It's worth the extra cash to spring for a good box that'll last a long time.
Thanks Pete for the files and the great video as always!
Your content quality is trough the roof!!! Amazing 3D animations and project! Still at 1/3 of the video
That 6th order sounds so clean and that 3d printer is awesome for plug and play
I'm overly impressed with the assembly process and quality of sound from the box. To say that was a 6.5 inch subwoofer sounding like that, had me in awe!!!!! Great job man. I wonder what one 12 inch sub would sound (hint hint)....
I listened to the demo on my home Cinema. That driveby is insaaaaane.
I listened in the car with 2 15s, I was like damm haha, sounds like someone with a 12"
Wow. Finally had a chance to put my earphones on. Makes a big difference when listening to the sample audio. Sounds good!!
Always amazing Pete! We need more of you in the world. Thanks.
keep up the great videos, you provide such amazing content as well as information!
HexiBase my friend and brother you keep on setting the bar higher and higher. Excellent good video topic of choice for discussion there are so many things 3D printer's have already done like speaker pods .
Lovely work as always mate
@@HexiBase thank you kindly for the reply! I really look forward to it!
I loved your early day tutorials of designing boxes you had up.
If maybe one evening you have time I'd love to discuss some ideas. You remind me alot of myself I'm on a journey of discovery from the production and engineering aspect of bass as opposed to the delivery on the other end. I have been building and designing enclosures a while now and have always enjoyed the channel! Keep up the amazing work bro!
Thank you for the video and the coupon for the printer. I went to Amazon to buy it and it was on a flash sale for 20% off, with the addition of your coupon... I made out like a bandit. I hope it holds up... went ahead and bought the bed level device you have linked as well - why not at that price.
That had a lot of bass for a 6.5 inch sub. Impressive man
From a few years ago. After seeing this I decided to buy the same sub - Hybrid Audio I6SW - best sub I've ever owned! ua-cam.com/video/R_QUm97_kJk/v-deo.html
That is incredible! Thanks for the honest review of the printer as well. I'm sure that little hatch gets some strange looks as you pass by. I love how "clean" it sounds. It doens't sound like you're driving a rattle can.
Wow. Great low frequency response.
Love it I’m about to buy one just to print all the enclosures you’ve made and show off
Just discovered your videos and enjoying them. I just got into 3D printing so this really added to it. The weird ear listening things are awesome! Keep up the great content!
Wow, you can hear it at quite a distance, how cool
Awesome sound. Great job.
Another amazing video
I listened on my tozo t12s, sounded incredibly clear and powerful at those deep low notes. This makes me want to get a 3d printer !!
Awesome man! You beat me to 3D printing a subwoofer box. Glad to know it is possible with decent result, great video!
That turned out pretty awesome!!! Kudos!!! And i can’t believe the output it had while you were driving down the road! Astonishing! And from my crappy little earbuds it sounds pretty damn good... I love this channel!!! #HexiBase for the win!
Love your videos! Editing, shots, and explanations are always on point. Dense yet entertaining. Thank you! You're an awesome channel!!
that's a nice sounding sub but enclosure is kinda big for 6" sub... that was my thought unit I've heard drive by... now its just wow!
Looks like he did a 6th order band pass which may explain they size since it’s basically 2 ported boxes in 1
@@MannuhFestIt Precisely. I built a quasi eighth order dual bandpass enclosure for two RE8s (8") about 15 years ago. That sucker took up nearly the entire hatch floor of an old explorer. I wish I could have found dual eD 8As to throw in it back then. RIP eD. Hated the weight, but miss that enclosure. My friend borrowed it, and apparenly his trunk leaked. *Facepalm*
@@mikem.9197 I need to see that... for sureee
Wow! This is another great video from you. I want one!
Could easily scale this up by slicing it into more Tongue in groove sections for larger speakers. may take more separate prints and more sealant / glue but then you could really go crazy with filament colors. Love it and from the demo really shows the engineering work that goes into simple items like speakers.
Always impressed
I love these printed enclosures! I also like the expression on Aaron's face when looking it over. If I ever get around to buying a 3D printer I think my goal will be to model an enclosure for a C6 Corvette.
Once again - awesome video!
Unreal. I love the content.
This is brilliant. I'm going to have do design an enclosure for between the seats of my truck.
@@HexiBase Oh, I'll be using my Prusa MK3 and a couple of 5.25" polk drivers. Probably make them downfiring with a folded port out the front.
more 3D subs pls. very interesting
i just love the bass Quality... ❤️👍🏼
Thanks for putting that "buckle up" clip in there - no ads 😂
Knocked this one out of the park every new video about 3d printing and sub builds is more and more on point and impressive! This is coming from a mechanical engineer with experience building 3-4 conventional subwoofer enclosures as a hobby with bass reflex, passive radiators or simple sealed ones. Im currently looking into 3d printing a custom enclosure to fit in my car in one of the trunk side compartments so as to not lose trunk space.
When we tried FDM printing at work, we had a lot of issues getting models to stick to the table and not lift mid-print. Had to use PVA glue, kapton tape and whatnot. We concluded that an enclosed print volume is almost a must for the table to keep at temperature. Surprised to see you're getting such good adhesion right away on a such a large print in free air.
You've done it again, the sub is sold out on Parts Express' website.
@@HexiBase You really should consider contacting them and warning them when you feature parts so they have a chance to get ready for the flood ... LOL! Seriously, you do that a few times and they might consider offering you a discount code to post. If you gave them the dates of your videos and the parts you linked and suggest they look at the timeline of sales of those items they'll probably hook you up. Good for everyone ... :-)
Very nice!
This man is amazing love the videos... I would love to see a 10 in sub or a big 6in or 8in.. but will still watch!!! So good
Officially addicted to this channel 🙌💪
Top Man .. as always!
Wow that enclosure makes some noise, I like it.
Nice works
The quality of these videos man...
amazing animations 10/10 !
Nice Video!
I can see how the dual extruder would work for soluble support. Very Neat !
Dude thats insane. My Rotel amp driving some Micca 42x speakers played it clearly as can be. I wish i could get my single Boston Acoustics 10.4LF to do that.
Sounds amazing in my echo buds.
Cool printer bro
ok this video is waaaay too good
That was YOU buying all those woofers!!!!!
Another badass project! I would love to see egg shaped chambers though since we lose volume we may need a smaller driver like the tang band 4”
Love your videos bro. Would be keen for some more tutorial style videos, even a run through of what software you use to simulate the box acoustics would be awesome
...and that drive-by sound test was worth it if just to hear @Hexibabe's laugh.
Thank you!! 🤣🤣
Your videos really made me rethink when I say I know shit about audio
Pretty new to the channel but the amount of work and thought that goes into each videos' layout and editing is very impressive. Partnering that with your expertise/intelligence and concise communication, makes for some top quality content. Keep it up man.
Your knowledge is truely exceptional... i love your videos. 11:02 i can't believe the output it has....
If I'm getting this right, it sounds like u have like 2 15" subs ina huge box??
Amazing!
Thanks, Peter, amazing Speaker.I wanna to get it one
@@HexiBase Thanks for your video and amazing speak, I love speaker
Very nice.
Awesome work as always . That thing is shocking. I bet it sounds way better in real life
@@HexiBase I wish I lived closer to be able to hear in person .
I can vouch for his design. I printed the 3 inch folded waveguide box running the exact TB driver and it sounded like 5.25 inch sub. It played down to 40 hz with good spl. I ended up getting a second Sovol SV01 as I can’t wait 4 days to print one part. By the way the Sovol is 240x280x300 volume and really is just a bigger Creality 3 Pro for $300. It's 95% assembled too.
Good work mister
I have one of these and it it prints great.
Good vid
What would you say the weight difference would be between the final printed setup vs an mdf enclosure of similar performance? I'm wondering if this could be a great way to add bass to cars where you want to keep weight down for performance but still want some creature comforts.
I printed this out and discovered why sub boxes are not 3D printed: rattle and unpleasant resonance. I ended up building a 1/2 inch pine wood enclosure and polyurethane the 3D box to the wood enclosure. The problem now is that the outer box is too stiff so the divider (where the driver is mounted) starts rattling even more. Oh well.
One would want to do a modal analysis of the parts individually.. But likely would gain from having ridged support sections designed in. For example a honeycomb core adds rigidity in composite building imaginary sections with baffling would combat..
When T&S run what's the QTC final.
Utter madness.... I love it 😂😉👍
awsome machine..!!!
@@HexiBase that be awsome..imagine wat u can print out...
Holy shyte that looks and sounds good
Can you make a video on designing 6th orders? I feel like there’s no videos on it
@@HexiBase I want to make a 6th order box for 2 orion 12 inch subwoofers. I dont know the ts parameters. I dont even know the model of them. Theyre pretty weak hooked up to a 250 watt Rockford 250.1. Any suggestions without the complicated measurements it takes to get the parameters. Just a generic 6th order like some companies already sell generic ported and sealed boxes. Something that will just be good enough til I can buy some real subs that aren't old and used and ill make a real box with the parameters.
@@mikem.9197 That only does parallel sixth. This was a series 6th.
Dude is an audio engineering alien!!!....
That's badass
Nice box
Nice BOX BASS
butyl rubber is traditionally used for mounting speakers in cars. It >never< dries out and stays soft in nearly any temperature.
I printed this in PETG for automotive use but it had horrible resonance (30% infill). I ended up just printing the chamber divider and the 6th order port tube and JB welded that to the wood enclosure (matching volume etc). WOW is all I can say. The thing had a solid response from 40HZ to 80HZ that was thumping. Make sure your speakers can deliver from 70HZ up otherwise you will notice a gap.
UPDATE: PETG is no good even with the wood being bonded to the PETG. I threw that PETG away and built it out of 3/4 inch birch. Much much better.
Thank you for the updated information. I just want to build this sub box. Good to hear that wood/mdf is much better than plastic
@@nockesumampouw6165 I used the internal dimensions to build it out of Birch Plywood here.ua-cam.com/video/TGCSrKBb2-E/v-deo.html&ab_channel=PoMan_911The complex pieces were 3D printed at 50% infill. The thing rocks!
I wasn't too surprised by the SQ, but the spl was very impressive!
That is pretty good oomph for a 6.5 inch 100w RMS subwoofer. That's what I call the perfect small car subwoofer especially if you tune the ports differently and used a B2 audio Rage65 sub.
If only we had this technology and knowledge back in the '90s in South Florida.
With our simple box enclosures, we needed 12"s, 15"s and 18"s woofers to get decent bass response. Mosrtly you just took the back seats out, and shoved a huge homemaid box in there.
You will kill the big subwoofer game with this.
Where can I buy one of your boxes?
I just enjoy your content... Cheers...
@@HexiBase I thank to you Sir. Soon two of your tang band boxes will be finished for my truck and I just can't wait to test and enjoy them. I've already promised a video of them in action 👌🏻
