From www.swimmingpo... - This video shows the installation of a Jacuzzi pool skimmer faceplate after the installation of a new vinyl liner. #swimmingpoolsteve
Hi, I'm wondering if the skimmer faceplate gasket is from paper material? I ordered one and looks like dark grey/black color and I can say is a thick paper. Is it just my appreciation or is paper material? Thank you
uh i know...i was sad about that when i listened to the video. my helper sounds like he had the mic in his mouth lol. still the information was good so i released it anyway
I know it's just the worst! Of all the videos for UA-cam to make popular from my channel they had to choose this one with all the Darth Vader breathing!
Hi steve recently i've been watching a channel from called p00lguy. On a couple of the pools he does maintainance on have mental skinmers where the remove the front of it out to it to empty the the the baskest, what pool pool are this disgn typically used olany why? The was a pool he cleaned out and restored the pool. It had a skimmer box with metal flap over the to of the back at the and flexible pipe that as was attached a box on the back the of the deep end steps which were solid metal one. have you every ever come accross similar design in an older pool?
So you don't show it, but you mention that there is a gasket between the liner and the wall of the pool. How do you get that gasket to stay in place so you can cover it with the liner? What type of gasket is it? I haven't seen this in any video, nor heard any mention of it. I need to install my skimmer to my new liner and need to know. Help!
It is not shown because it is not part of this process. It is part of the prior process which is installing the liner. Gaskets are part of the liner prep day, which is usually a day or two before you would be at this point here. The gasket orientation is something that is not linear. There are different products with different installation requirements and you as the owner of the pool need to be aware of what the old orientation was before you took it apart. Skimmer faceplates and gaskets do not come off and go back on. It is installed with the new liner, and removed with the old liner. When you prep the pool you attach your gaskets in place with silicone, or more commonly, duct tape. Nothing fancy there. Duct tape your gaskets in place, hang the liner, and then install the gaskets and faceplates on the pool side of the liner.
Thanks Scuba Steve i will be replacing my 12x24 Rectangle semi in ground pool liner next summer i have watched a lot of your videos and learned a lot from them now i feel confident that i can install my own. I will gather all my measurements when the weather is good and i can get in the pool to do so. thanks and keep the videos coming "ill need them".
After I Did all that I have a leak exactly at the bottom corners. It’s not leaking a lot but is noticeable. How do I fix that? Do I need to get a new butterfly gasket?
If I am replacing the skimmer on an existing inground vinyl pool, do I have to completely drain the pool? I am replacing the defective skimmer with a like make/model.
If anyone else ever has this question, the answer is no. I only lowered the water to just below the lowest point where I removed material to replace the skimmer and new piping. The liner didn't budge when I followed this method.
Seriously. Where I told him to hold the camera for me I did NOT specify that he should avoid placing the microphone directly in his mouth. Lesson learned for next time.
I’m trying to find a skimmer gasket with 14 screw holes I’ve looked in multiple different places do you know of any that have no holes that I could possibly make Or suggestions. the ones with holes don’t lineup
Let me see if I got this right. I have a hole poked through the liner bolt won't tighten, so I put another hole just above and one just below the hole that the screw won't tighten and that how you fix the problem. What about the hole in the middle where the screw won't tighten, you know the one you poked a hole through. You and I have a difference of an opinion on what fixes a hole. Most people would have drilled the hole that would not tighten, a little bigger put a bolt through it, and put a nut on the outside with a decorative cover over it. But this is just how stupid I am
Sure you can sometimes use an oversized screw to hold the faceplate in place, but not always. Especially with Jacuzzi style returns which use a brass grommet system which can start to spin free. In which case the repair that I detail works flawlessly, quickly and reliably. You fill the middle hole with epoxy or 100% silicone and it does not leak, and the only cosmetic flaw is the return has 5 screws instead of 4.
If you have a spinning screw .How do you fix it in the back so you don,t have to drill more holes. Can you use a bigger screw Or put putty in the screw hole? On above ground pool
Here is some info for this problem ua-cam.com/video/stPjgEmLo90/v-deo.html - For an above ground pool you have more options since you can access the back side of the wall. There are many ways you could use something to hold on the back side of the wall so the screw will bite...epoxy could potentially work
Buy the way, video was informative. I have a hayward skimmer to install in my vinyl pool. A butterfly gasket came with it, do I cut it in half for both sides or leave it as one piece an install on outside wall?
The butterfly gasket sucks. I never use them, besides you would use that during skimmer installation - not faceplate installation. You should get some regular cork gaskets like the ones in this video.
Sounds like the camera man is really enjoying the installation maybe a little too much
Lol
hahahahaha... I caught that too.
I was waiting for this comment
Darth Vader filming????? Dang
😂
Is the cameraman okay?
Ikr?! Bwahahahaha! 😂🤣
Darth Vader is your helper? Lol! Just making light hearted fun. Thanks guys for the video!
The force is strong with this one.
😜
@@stevepumfrey8060 hahaha that made me laugh thanks
Great video, I’m glad Darth Vader was available to film it
Good info.. but the breathing is alarming.. 😂🙉🤢

Hey Steve , who is the heavy breather behind the camera?
uh i know...i was sad about that when i listened to the video. my helper sounds like he had the mic in his mouth lol. still the information was good so i released it anyway
Cinematography by Darth Vader...........................!
Sounds like he was rubbing one out. Very good info tho, thanks Steve.
Swimming Pool Steve is he a wookie?
The heavy breathing ruined it for me
HAAHAHHHAHHAAAAAAA. How do I make breathing noises in words
either the guy holding the camera is a mouth breather or he really likes pool filter installation lol
I know it's just the worst! Of all the videos for UA-cam to make popular from my channel they had to choose this one with all the Darth Vader breathing!
Maan what's up with the heavy breathing
I know right? I had my helper hang over the edge of the pool to film me and you would think he put the microphone right in his mouth!
Sounds like you have Darth Vader as your camera man
Love the video Steve I will not comment on obvious 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🤣
I head it’s good to apply silicone in between skimmer plate and gasket
sounds like the soundtrack of a walking dead episode.

I put he video on and walked away, for a sec I thought it was porn. 🙄
My favorite part is the guy breathing into the mic.
Should we silicone the gasket

oh wow..i wanted to see exactly how you cut the excess out and the video cut that short..

If the screw turns in the grommet on a Jacuzzi skimmer plate. What size drill and screw do you use on the new holes.
Excellent instructions...Is your helper Michael myers from halloween lol

You don’t show anything like the outside part as well 👎🏻
So annoying with the breating!
Ok I can't handle the guy breathing
Can you put it on when the pool is completely full?

Good video. Thanks
Do you need 2 gaskets or one ? Does a gasket go behind the liner ?, under the faceplate ? Or both ? Thanks
Did you ever get an answer to this question and what is it if so?
@@santiagosalgueiro7506 yes from PAC Fab 2 gaskets, sandwiching the liner

Thanks for the video well done
Thank you Scuba Steve! I'm replacing my liner right now
I hope it went well. FYI Swimming Pool Steve pre-dates Scuba Steve by almost 15 years lol!
Swimming Pool Steve, yes man, thank you!
Cheers
Thanks for your help!!!!
Spinning screw. Be careful not to get metal filings from the panel in the pool. Will rust. Then slap on a snap on face plate cover to hide the mess 👍

What do i need to buy to fix the whole on the deck not the backet but the cover that is on the deck not on the pool wall
