Forbidden were an extremely underrated thrash metal band! Everyone in the band were very proficient musicians. Damn, Glen and Craig were so good! It sounds to me like both of them are classically trained. I can hear a lot of classical influence in their guitar solos. It's a great injustice that Forbidden didn't become a huge band! They are so incredibly talented. Others bands looked up to them even though they weren’t as popular as other thrash bands. I was lucky to see them live in 90 or 91 if I remember correctly, with Heathen and Sanctuary!
Before the extremities of Morbid Angel, there was Dark Angel. At the time "Darkness Descends" came out NO OTHER BAND were as musically extreme as Dark Angel. Until Pete Sandoval came along, no other drummer played as fast as Gene Hoglan. Dark Angels performance on "The Ultimate Revenge 2" just shreds, and is a testament to what I stated above.

They recently let Rick go & had Paul Masvidal from Cynic filling in on guitar. They were promoting the (at the time)new album "Spiritual Healing". I saw Raven in 2014 at a bar in Los Osos, CA. Most of the guys at the show stayed for the opening bands but left not long after Raven started playing. Only seven or eight people including me stayed for the full set! At the merch table for Raven vintage copies of the Ultimate Revenge 2 on vinyl were sold and i bought one of them. Strange that people bailed on Raven at both shows
I see Raven is influential for many metal bands. In Metallica and others, their echoes can be heard in songs and even full albums. However, I don't think Raven is so popular. They don't seem to appeal to the audiences. Maybe in their early days, fresh and sounding hard. I saw them opening for Metallica a few years ago and the same happened. Of course there were fans of the band too, but basically no one cared.
same thing in Chicago. Toxic Holocaust played and another band i forgot. When Raven played last, half the crowd left. weird. The play heavy ,fast (but not Thrash) riff banging stuff. i guess it doesn't resonate with some people .???
I remember watching the shit out of this video in highschool at my buddies house getting stoned & living it. Got to see death & dark angel live & forbidden twice as a n opening act, once for exodus, & the other fir sacred reich
I,ve seen this video advertised so many times over the years in all those metal magazines, and today for the first time in 2020 I finally get around to seeing it! I love Forbidden and Punishment Area...
This was almost 5 years after the first combat tour felt like a veteran metalhead when I first seen this good show would have been happy just seeing dark angel and death these concerts with this type of energy are a thing of the past here in Milwaukee, WI forbidden did a good job also
Wow. I was at this show with a buddy who worked for combat records. I was with forbidden throwing pizza slices out of the 15 th floor in philly. I never though i saw death, i wasnt a fan of thhem then but later became one. So now i realize i saw death. Lol. Also, when raven played everyone left. They literally played to about 20 kids. I remeber they were panning in tighter around raven on the monitors to show that noone left.
I guess that was a sign of where the metal crowd was at the time and every band was becoming more brutal and heavier. Raven are great, but there's no way they could've held down a decent sized crowd after that insane Dark Angel set.
