Jakom, thank you for summarising such a vast and complex history of Luo Migration so well. Hitherto I had but a vague idea of the proliferation of the Southern Luo history, but you have shown your depth of understang of this segment of Luo history.
The cradle place of Ramogi clan in Nyanza (Kenya) is Lamogi area in Acholiland ( Northern Uganda), no more than thirty kilometers west of Gulu City. It is also near Wadelai (Wat-Lee) where a small axe (lee) was cast to mark the great split between the two brothers, Gipii and Labongo. Never mind for now that the Boor and Chollo( Shilluk) ie ( Northern Luos) have a slightly different version of the same incident.
It is on record that in May 1946 Mzee Apollo Ohanga from Nyanza came to see this famous point of separation.
Please note that there is also a residual presence of Ramogi people in Busaga (Bulamogi), in Eastern Uganda.
It is also true that Adola and his brother Owiny continued on the great track southwards. Adola and his group remained behind around present day Tororo area while Owiny carried on to present day Nyanza region in Kenya and Northern Tanzania.
It is true as you said that Omol was the patriarch Paimol clan in East Acholi Region. Omol and his brother Okor founded the clan, but they quarrelled and parted company.
Like Ramogi, other Luo clans are replicated all over Luo territories eg Gem clans are to found in Nebbi, West Nile (Ragem-Koc) district; Palabek, Labongo areas in East Acholi as well as in Nyanza Province in Kenya
However please note that J P Cazzolara-FSCJ was not a Professor but a Catholic Priest of the Comboni Missionary Order. He was one of the founders of the Catholic Mission in Gulu in 1910.
In 1954, the year he published the last of his three volumes on Lwoo Migration, "The Lwoo-Clans" I was a small boy in St Joseph's Boarding Primary School Gulu. I was one of the small boys doing weekend jobs in the Mission's Printing Press. I remember that we used to deliver lots of printed papers from the Printing Press to his Presbytery cum Office. Only later did I come to realise the importance of the work Fr Crazzolara was undertaking.
With the benefit of hindsight, it has been for me a rendezvous with fate.
Otherwise thanks Jakom for your impressive delivery. I was able to follow your Dho-Luo narratives, even though I am from Central Luo (Northern Uganda) area.
