To answer the question about who made the first Riftborn if they're machines... well, they're not. Riftborn themselves come from a universe where they exist as mathematics concepts. They're sapient geometry, basically. Issue is, that doesn't translate to our universe with its vastly different physical laws very well, so the machine bodies are necessary for them to interact with the galaxy. Riftborn constructs being constructed don't actually create new Riftborn so much as create shells for existing ones to pilot around.
Don't be fooled by sseths bad words about the unfallen
They can absolutely kick your ass because just like trees, once they occupy a system it's a pain in the ass to remove their shit
if you let them get the first move, you'll never get the second
or at least it'll feel that way because every effort to actually make an impact will bounce like a rotten tomato off their barky skin
I'll also recommend you to check faction intros from this game, they are pretty good.
11:00 He's talking about assimilation, not simulation. Incorporating one group of people into another group of people.
I’ve been looking forward to this
You’re a little too excited to play cravers 😨
they so cool tho.
The bit about "removing Gnashast from protected species amendment" was just flavor text. As far as I know, there's no way to outright exterminate a race immediately. The Gnashasts' whole thing is that they're, as a species, extremely aggressive and strong (they're the ones in the "commit more crimes" gag and the race of the pirate leader). Arguably they're strong enough to not need protection anyway.
Also the "Save Bees Not Refugees Act" is not real (at least in the base game). The name of it is edited, the actual law's flavor text is pretty much the exact opposite - basically, encouraging minorities to contribute to society
Endless Space is awesome!
If you're still looking to get this game, or still don't use Awakening like the rest of us, good news! The devs are currently working on a massive update to re-work the mechanics of Awakening, which is currently in beta!
2:14 they caught him after the video.

Well, that's not entirely true. Certain american group, known for wearing white outfits, had an inner conflict, because part of their group was suggesting to put all *people of certain color* in separate cities in America, where they would be able to do whatever they want (literally. Even policing inside cities and governor control were suppose to be done by black citizens), leaving them free as long as they don't move to other, "white", parts of the country. I think it's quite similar to description of that law in nature (bigotry, but with a way to exist, instead of being proactively oppressed into non-existance).
Obviously, due to such complicated stance (racism still, but with such huge rights benefits compared to other ideologies), this group was crushed by another, more simple to understand and use as a tool of aggression, branch.
Mods let you turn off the Academy's expansion. (Like the ESG Mod overhauls the whole thing)
If you don't use mods you'll need to turn off the whole DLC.
40:40 You're thinking about Mr Shakedown!
yeah exactly I hate that mf.
Yes
Craver enthusiast here. They are my favorite faction due to the sheer speed and violence of which you expand and acquire resources.
My general advice is to immediately scout for large systems with big planets fertile planets.
Now cravers produce a lot of food due to their over exploitation trait, however they will still starve on barren and lava planets without food producing improvements. So again, early game you scout for and colonize large and habitable planets.
You have the option to enslave minority populations to increase their productivity at the expense of happiness. This is optimal if you wish to expand the “lifetime” of your planets, as slave pops don’t deplete the planet, unlike their endlessly hungry masters.
However, once you reach 50 units of craver population you gain a population collection trait which increases damage on ground troops and ships per depleted planet on owned systems. When this happens you want to deplete your planets, every single one. The massive 50% nerf to FIDSI is tolerable solely because it doesn’t impact system defenses and that craver ships are cheaper to construct due to their swarm fleet trait.
This buff to all damage only scales as the game progresses and you conqueror and deplete more systems. You will become an unstoppable swarm and as you conquer enemy planets instead of tediously colonizing, you simply flood the new system with your native craver pops so they can start exploring the undepleted system. Again, Craver systems will not rebel despite mutinous approval because the hive can’t be stopped, but angry systems will produce very low food and if your systems start starving you will lose population units which decreases the manpower pool you can replenish from.
All in all tho, craver gang forever, show no hesitation, do not fear war, peace is physically not an option, you can’t have peace unless you become a pacifist dictatorship.
