I just picked up the trumpet again--something I really haven't touched in about 30 years. So glad I found your videos; you do an excellent job turning theory in practice.
Bro. I've been playing most of my life and I put it down for a minute but now I'm picking it back up. I felt like I was stuck in a loop. Tone and range come naturally, but creativity is lacking. I subscribed. I believe your lessons will help me reach new heights with my music.
Thanks. I just picked up the trumpet a few months ago since 6th grade 1966, 67. I think I can get a lot from your videos but I don’t have the endurance yet.
Wow!! I just became "Unstuck" on something that I've been doing for a longtime. Its always great to get another perspective on technique. Thanks for the valuable lesson.
I know I'm late to this party. Picked up my horn after 25 years. This lesson is perfect for warm ups, fingering, and nailing down tone. Where could I find someone using this in a song? My brain isn't going together what to do with it during a song. I bought the exercise. Well worth it.

So glad I found this site. Great info and presented in an understandable manner. Out of all the trumpet sites out there I think this is just what I needed. I am 72 years young and play in a community jazz band. I started playing in grade school up through high school and packed the horn away until about 10 years ago. So now I'm in a mad rush to get better with whatever amount of time I have left. Thanks for being their.

Thanks for a great video, BT. I'm an experienced player, but this was still helpful to me, especially the routine of playing all the scales four ways (up, down, then up/down and down/up). This is a great way to get new tunes under your belt. yeah, the harmonic minor on the dimished chord! I was wondering what to do with this scale; now I know. Mega thanks.
Great approach - thanks for the excellent video -going to start doing this. The difficulty I will probably run into is selecting the right scale on progressions.
Thank you - have been away from trumpet and looking for something to get me back into it, this lesson is great, I can start back at the basics with the root note exercises and build day by day. Will be back for more Sensei!
Damyon Hardy nice! I’m starting a trumpet masterclass livestream on this channel where I give trumpeters some tips based on what they play. The first masterclass event is today at 3pm CST. You should check it out🙂
Top man! Brilliant tutorial in which you combine theory and practice extremely well, which makes it so easy to follow and understand. Thanks very much BT, from a classical trumpet player who is a bit long in the tooth but always wanted to foray into the blues.

Love your videos. I'm an old man that can't play piano due to condition in my hands. After some research, I found out that the trumpet is the only instrument that my bum hands would be no problem... was trying to learn recorder, which i have, but the one I like has holes spread too widely, and if I had too purchase a special one the price (for people with bum hands) would be really high. The recorder is much less offensive than a trumpet. for neighbors.. but the bottom line, I like the trumpet way more. I can put a mute on the trumpet, and, working from home, I could possibly pick up practice times when the neighbors are not there. On the other hand, the recorder is much easier, and I used to play a little saxophone and even recorder when I was a child. I played a trombone for a year, too, when I was a teenager, but didn't get much ahead with that. True, I'm much more patient now and I know much more how to practice, but I'm also an old man. Aslo, as I said, the trumpet price is probably the lowest of all instruments I like, like saxophone (not even comparable). And my hands shouldn't be a problem at all ( with the trumpet). But it is difficult. Just saying. And like jazz. The trumpet I've thought about getting is Jean Paul TR-430 ... And I love your practice exercises, that's what help me on piano. A lot.
