- Today I joined the most interesting tournament EVER! In this "Ratio" Marvel vs Capcom 2 tournament, we get exactly 7 points to build a team! I lean toward my favorite low and mid tiers, so of course I spent my points on them. Can you guess who won? Enjoy!

The level of charm this game displays is unreal.
I've always felt that Ruby Heart was a cool character design. Sad that she's doesn't really exist outside this game.

closest resemblance we can get is Love Heart from King of Fighters/SNK
She and Amigo was supposed to be in a cancelled Darkstalkers game...
The points system nees a bit more work i think but overall this is a welcoming uniqueness that's needed since nobody want to see high tier characters fighting eachother all the time

@@elvistwatty at the top of head, points should differ by matchup as well since even low tier have winning matchups,just not as much as the high tiers.I can think up some other implementations but at the core i think it work fine
I think the main thing it would need is to move a couple more character into the 2 and 1 point tiers, just so you have more team options.

I hope the cancelled MVC2 invitational tournament makes a comeback in some form. I was really looking forward to watching it and getting hype.
Would love to see the top players try this format out. Seemed like Justin could just crush a lot of these people without much thought

Would 4, 4, Roll or 5, 3, Roll be viable teams? What's so bad about her that you get a free point if you pick her?
She is a WAY worse Megaman, the only thing going for her is her small hurtbox. She can work in a format like this, but probably 4-2-1 or 3-3-1 is still better. I would pick most 1s over Roll. I'm not that into Roll team building to be 100% sure tho :')

Justin should only be allowed 6 or 5 points. His game knowledge and technical skill alone is worth 2 points. This just straight up bullying these poor souls.

Seeing the potential of what other characters do in this game is amazing. I don’t even play fighting games anymore but if i see MVC2 or CVS2 I’m instantly watching.
Great format for any team game. Would love to see more tournaments like this for mvc2, snk2, maybe mvc3 but mvc3 has alot of diversity as is.
Someone did a UMVC3 ratio tournament. Vergil cost 10 points (i.e. he's banned), probably because even with two trash teammates he'd run over most teams just with X factor.

I'd love to see more tournaments like this. It's a really cool concept.

I think If you did some sort of match analysis video , maybe of a classic old school set from mvc2 or sfiv and broke down what you were thinking and what you were looking for that could be cool
I've always wanted ask the marvel God himself self if mvc2 is still fun even with low tier teams or its that game just way more fun with high tiers cauae how crazy it gets

As weird as a set-up like this tournament is to some people, I played some KOF XI and KOF 98 UM:FE events that operated on a similar ratio points system for characters to keep the truly busted characters weighed down by more unusual secondaries and third-stringers.
In a game like MvC2 it's really crazy to watch, just because of the fact it's all active and you can hot-tag during combos and such.

Although, I really want to see a tournament where everyone HAS to use different characters.
They'd have to devise a similar point system to build teams or get to pick characters.
But it would be so fun to see the entire roster be used in a tournament.
And obviously nobody would get a top tier team, and you'd try to balance the teams out according to a sort of agreed upon tier list.
This really is just the most wonderful game to watch. Its so gooooood. Thank you marvelous one

This. I came in here to say this exact thing. His team is not something to take lightly of, it's so crazy how Spider-Man and Hulk have instant overheads.
Ratio battle is a great idea. You get to see a variety of characters.

Because it isn't representative of the game in it's natural/arcade state. Tournaments are designed to determine who is the best at a game, not who is the best within certain constraints. Low tier tournaments exist, but by and large people want to know who is the best, and that means using the best characters.
Not trying to hate on your opinion, just why I think it is the way it is.
i remember when people cried about mvc3 tod combos... but then i see cammy get hit once, confirmed into 3 supers, dead. people were really just ass in mvc3 and that was one of the heavy excuses.
nah, marvel 3 was ass. Marvel 2 has 100's sure but they cost meter. Infinites are there but all but ironmans are incredibly execution intensive. Marvel 3 has combos that build the meter they cost, in the case of TAC infinites which completely remove interesting resets from the game it builds more. And damage wasnt even peoples biggest complaint. Xfactor speed increase, metas like morrigan fireballs and phoenix meter assist spam, KBRs boring ass ToD team. Marvel 3 was ass compared to 2

@@raymixb2 lol sure buddy. Maybe compared to people now but the first two months before I decided to drop it for being trash it was too easy, just cheesing people out w Amaterasu/Tronne/Phoenix. Maybe doesnt sound like a good team now but I basically was doing a less effective version of that chun lis players team. There is no cool lame option in Marvel 3, just a boring game for people w out finesse. Stuff like x factor phoenix was clearly dumb from week one nd not only was it dumb, but unlike marvel 2 the top tier was also just not fun. Not enjoyable. Cool characters like Modok, hsein ko, amaterasu etc where just not worth it compared to the stupid shit. Touch of deaths where EASY. X factor esp in ultimate w characters like vergil made neutral laughable to non existent at a medium level and frankly Ive seen countless top players loose laughably to xfactor, the damage boost fine but the speed boost just strait up scrubbed out the game. Im a very good fighting game player not a pro, and at a medium high level the game is just sad. Final meta didnt end up much better then I thought it would, so made the right choice calling quits after having a little fun phoenixing people before recognizing correctly that it would just end up ass. I mean, morrigan spam looks fun? x factor vergil, fun? TAC infinites, fun? lol. Marvel 2 stayed fun and still is decades later, people where BEGGING for updates to ultimate marvel 3

I used to main Ruby Heart, Dr Doom, Blackheart on x360. Was in top 200 online ranking. What do you feel about that team. I'd switch doom for Dan for rematches, cuz I'm sweet like that.

Wouldn't Storm/Sentinel + Morrigan AAA + Roll destroy any mid or low tier team combination?
They should take these rules to make a KOF13 tournament, at least we can see some variety.
Entire point of this is to create variety. I rarely see capt used at all. Anna rarely these combos of teams
You could just as effectively make a KOF13 tournament where Kim and DLC characters are banned. That aside, I feel like 3/4ths the cast can easily compete with one another, the only real difference between them being how execution heavy and/or meter dependent their TOD combos are.

Imagine if you enter a ratio tournament, pick Sentinel, Ironman, Cable, etc, then get bodied by Mid/lower tier more balanced teams (compared to all points on a top tier).
This is Marvel how I knew it in my friend circle. People playing characters for the fun of playing characters having some clutch matches. Then later came the tiers and people just playing the best characters all the time. Miss the old days of mvc2 when it was just like this.
