You guys are on a roll. Absolutely priceless guidance between both of these recent limb walk vids. Amateur climber here, and I never thought of re-positioning my lanyard centrally (or on a side D for that matter) while triangulating into another hang point, although I'll admit, I do tend to deploy my Captains Hook to get another line out to triangulate my position. Thanks again boys!!
Fantastic video! I love how you broke down the basic movements step by step. I’ve just started recently climbing, doing tree work on my property only. I’ve noticed some limbs I’ll have to “walk” out onto, and this helped me mentally picture my moves.
Nice tips thats really cool the more you climb the more you know is what i say i learned alot of these tips from just failing along the way but its nice to see these tips again
Same. I also have to learn to trust my gear to hold me which I'm still overcoming. I found myself at times walking on top of the limb straight posture as opposed to lowering my center of gravity and putting weight on my rope cause I was scared a bit. But I'm slowly getting better!
@wwfera00 try doing that on an steep I cline lol u actually a lot safer putting your body weight on the rope because if you slip and fall from straight up you could hurt yourself smacking into the branch when you get caught by your rope
@@wwfera00admitting you're scared is progress it's one step at a time I too am still learning to trust my equipment so many people say it's easy until they are up there and then you have a million scenarios running through your mind at once and trying to address the situation correctly can sometimes feel overwhelming
I don't like the idea of rock climbing but I love the idea of tree climbing. I know absolutely nothing so this content is awesome. I'm looking forward to some climbing. I'm going to start with a home chin up and calisthenics for strength as I acquire my gear. Thanks for the great content.
This is fun to do? I've done a lot of trimming and thining on larger trees with limbs like this one you are in your video? Once you get acclimated to your gear and your fear of heights? Then you can develope balance and coordination? Along with developed strenght? Then you are off and running up and out then over and across? Then back up again? It's all about balance and the direction and the angle you start out from? Sometimes depending on how well you have learned while you're in a tree? First thing is safety and good quality rigging and most of all your ropes should be in excellent condition free of any cuts or breaks in the fiber's? I've been retired now for the better part of 5 years. But I was a very successful professional tree climber and faller in the 45 plus year's of doing tree work and the year's before I got started doing trees work of just climbing and playing around up in the tree tops learning how a tree flexes and sways and the breaking points of limbs and what I can get away with? That's not something I recommend for anyone else to mess with? Thanks for the videos and stay safe and work smarter not harder? God bless you guys and I guess I will see you up in the canopy's?
Great, great job I wish somebody would do a video on what happens. If you're limb walking and you slip, and you swing back to the tree like what technique? What do you have to do to try? Not get hurt if that makes sense.
I have no plans of climbing a tree. And why this video made it's way into my suggested viewing list? You can always count on the YTs algorithm to take you to places you didn't expected, lol!
Ahh, those may be tricky but can be accomplished. I tackle those in the "Jaguar Stance"; not directly on it but to the side. I will also utilize my lanyard for these limbs. With the lanyard in place, I will push on the limb with my feet creating pressure and slowly flip my way up, while tending slack as well.
OOF, that is a good one! Three ways I would go about it: 1. Crane, 2. An aerial lift, 3. Lastly, If there are other trees around, I would try to set up a floating tie-in point.
Or, if you can't get out to the limb in question... you can climb out as far as you can go with a sturdy position,, pull up your pole saw with your rope, and cut those outer branch tips like I did today 😅
Crane and aerial lift is out of question 😅 the problem is that before they cut the top of the tree and now you have long branches of the tree which need to be cut down, i think that pole saw would be my next investment. Thank you for the comment
@@BartlettArboristSupply looking forward to that video! Thanks for the advice I will apply it, it’s definitely easier said than done, especially when it’s new to the climber. The vertical limb with no handles is a common theme I’ve noticed when climbing ash trees and especially honey locusts. It’s been very challenging to overcome quickly
Gotta do it in style! That's what's gonna happen when you have an expert who not only knows what they're doing, but it's comfortable and second nature to them. Plus, it's automatic...the're not doing it to impress...but rather it's borne out of efficiency and practicality. And then they just happen to look damn good doing it!!
I want to see what other people are doing when they can’t get a nice high tie in point lol I love watching people on here but I want to see the videos no body wants to share, let’s see the terrible jobs not the perfect ones
We can try and do something like that, however, at the moment, the channel is directed more towards informational rather than real work scenarios. That should be coming in the near future though.
Beautiful technique, control and balance, the Jaguar family are very impressed and pleased with your grace and style, greetings from Ireland !!!
Thank you very much!
Greetings to you as well👋
Abdon, you nailed it. Concise explanation and excellent tips for new climbers. Going to share this with the crew.
Glad it was helpful!

Been looking to get into this line of work cause I love climbing. You made that look easy and fun😁
I need a comprehensive list of all the gear you have on. Pants, saddle, lanyard etc. Thank you.
Great tutorial!
What kind of glasses? There dope af.
The safety glasses are Heatwave Visual.
@Abdon: Any information on the knot pusher? Looks like self handcrafted ? Thanks for any ideas.
You can certainly make one on your own, but the one in the video is a Big Jim's Hitch Breaker and it is midline attachable.

Boom!
What handle do you have there above your Prusik knot? Is that a wooden ball or something similar? Is that available for purchase or is that a hack?
Yes please share
That is called a Hitch Breaker. It gives the user a bigger handle to collapse the hitch and you won't burn your finger tips.
@@BartlettArboristSupply Thank you...
Sold
Looks like a project at the wood lathe for me! Would have never conceived that idea, thanks for the tutorial!!
Well done!!! beautiful video!! what knot did you use? Can it also be used with the rope wrench?
Thank you!
The hitch used in the video is the Catalyone and can be used with a rope wrench.
@@BartlettArboristSupply ah ok, the catalyst? Which is your favorite?
Not the Catalyst, they're two different hitches. Catalyone has worked wonders!
@@BartlettArboristSupply did you make a video about this hitch?
Haven't yet, it will be in the coming video shoot.
That lanyard is crazy but I like it
Nice vid Abdon! Fresh safety glasses….what brand are the safety glasses and where did you get them from?
Thanks man!🙌
The shades are Heatwaves
Love the touch of 80s looks on shades Abdon ! LMAO 🤣

What’s that brown tiny barrel looking thing you have on top of your Prusik ? And where can it be purchased ?

Can you tell me whats the name of the kind of handle just above your hitch? Is this available on your website? Excellent vidéo by the way

The glasses do carry a Z87+ rating and they are Heatwaves. You can find it through their website.

It is a Hitch Breaker.

La miniatura es increíble 😅
Just just gota do it and not mess around trust your tie in point or if you don’t have one stay tied in and crawl out there
when I was a child I did it without all the gear
Yeah, but you were also made of rubber and would bounce instead of break. Oh, to be a child again!
