I just recently made this bag as a gift, she loved it!! I added basal foam for stability on all the exterior panels, added an inside zip pocket, recessed zipper and fusible vinyl to the outside pockets! A note for those who are new to sewing. When attaching the bases, be sure to leave 5/8" seam allowance to attach the sides, its much easier!

I bet you could use screen mesh for the bottom of the bag so sand falls right out. Love the bag design!!

Hi there! I recently made a few of these bags and I’m going back for more! I’m thinking to try using an outdoor canvas instead of cotton on the outside so it’s water proof/resistant. Since that’s a little bit thicker, would you still suggest the decovil light or something else?

Hello! I am pretty sure you can make this bag with 2.5 yards of material.
I am considering making this bag. It's got many features I'm looking for, including the bottom vinyl! I'm a bit confused about the pockets. I love the offset look with the solid fabric. When you press the edge of the outer fabric and the lining fabric, do you sew the top edge with wrong sides together so both of the raw edges don't show? Hope that makes sense.
Hi Gigi! You could sew the wrong sides together or you can fold over the top edge so each piece is two ply and place the inside right sides together. I commonly make pockets like that!

The pdf doesn't show the full measurements for each piece- was that intentional?
The PDF in my ETSY shop has the full measurements. The one in the video is likely cropped.
Question. When you fold over the front fabric of a pocket and offset it, am I correct that you need to also fold the back fabric (also part of front pocket)so there’s no raw edge on the front of each pocket? Or am I missing something?
Hi Anne, that is correct! Both he top lip for the front and back of the pocket get folded to create a finished edge.

Hi Linda! It was a remnant so I don’t know for sure. I bought it at Hobby Lobby. I checked their website and they don’t specify either. It’s a nice weight. Not too stiff yet stable.
