Without all the injuries he had and with a good professional mentality, he would been the best player in football history by miles away to everybody else. Just his stats before the injuries were and still unmatched till this day. Even Messy and Ronaldo weren't at this level before he started picking up those brutal injuries. Although we all know how unprofessional he was outside of the field and in trainings. That's why injuries taunted him all along his career.

R9 played in an era when technicality and skill with the ball was the primary thing in football. Not only did he have the amazing skill, but he also brought his athletic ability on top. He had it all. Now days players are selected for their athletic ability first. And the technical ability is secondary. Which is why we really don't see the flair and skills that R9 possessed much today.

Pace, strength, height, skills, ball control, step overs, shoulder drop, movement, football IQ, samba joga bonito. Damn. He was the Perfect Striker. He was unstoppable. He was the Kaido of his Era, on a 1v1 always bet on Ronaldo. Deadliest 1v1 player in history. He literally disappeared in front of defenders. Defenders knew what was coming but they couldn't keep up. When Ronaldo got pass players, they were more in awe than embarrassed. Yes that was so true. He was one of them like main characters in anime. R9 & Batistuta. These 2 monsters crushed the European team, with Zidane included and Bekenbauer directing them.

He was the best at what he did, dribbling & finishing but Messi is close, however when it comes to vision, creativity, passing etc, R9 is no where near, add to that Messi has done it for 20 years!

Than you did NOT check history. Before R9 had 2 major injuries and a disease he did things from a very young age that Messi could not do and beside his performances where his stats much better.
And a destroyed R9 at 60% was still better in the world cup as Messi on 100%. R9 had moves and some passing that Messi didn't do.
For example he did it with his shoulder.
Messi did have a better career but Messi is not even in the top 5 young players/talents.
