What is the Khalistan Movement?
The Khalistan movement is a separatist movement seeking to create a homeland for Sikhs by establishing an ethno‐religious sovereign state called Khalistan in the Punjab province. It is centered in northern Punjab state, where Sikhs are the majority, though they make up about 2% of India's population.
