This is so true. Most other reviewers forgot to mention the basic fact that the kindles reflect natural light and made such a big deal about the higher kindle variants having warm light.
For those thinking to get this or Paperwhite one, I was there too and I bought this. The reason is actually depends on why do you want it and how will you use it? For instance me personally, bought this to carry it every single day. It fits my cargo pants pockets, my jackets pockets etc, so I carry it around everywhere and read it on subway, bus literally everywhere. So this model was the perfect model for me. But if you're not gonna carry it around every single day, mostly use it at home, you can go with the bigger Paperwhite one. And thanks for the video btw

I have one of the earlier Paperwhites, 3rd generation, and although it doesn't boast any water resistance rating, it's still extremely water resistant. I use it in the bathtub all the time, frequently splattered with small drops of water, and I've had no issues. I wonder if the 2022 basic Kindle has a similar resistance to water, would be a nice upgrade to get USB-C and the other improvements!

Smaller size of this amazing device against Oasis is a big advantage for me. Size of this 11th gen Paperwhite is just exactly right for carrying it and read books. It is absolutely comfortable to hold with one hand during the hours, it is light and kust greatly match size.
Great review, Cam. If this just had the Paperwhites’s adjustable warmth then I’d never choose the current Paperwhite over this.

I could not decide which one I wanted as my first ever ereader I got the basic on sale cheap but had to eventually pull the trigger on the paperwhite recently as well & now I have two kindles that I love very much hope they last forever.

Ah, wasn’t aware of the finish differences between this and the paperwhite. I have both on the way as a holdover from a broken oasis 2019. Thinking of going for the 11th gen + a Scribe if I miss the large size and for textbooks.

i still have/use my gen 3 kindle which has all 3 of the above.. not interested in blu tooth, i want to choose to use my wired headphones.
After years of using the 4th Gen, I "upgraded," to the 10th Gen a few years ago and went for the white model. I see that's not available on the 11th Gen. No good for me. I can't abide fingerprints.
My one gripe with the 10th (and presumably the 11th?) is that you can't permanently turn off the "progress in book" options. I turn it off but am forever accidentally activating it!
Hi.Please guide us in pairing the bluetooth earphones. Seems a difficult aspect in the basic 2022 - 11th gen model as there is only Wireless and no bluetooth option (like in paperwhite) to access the bluetooth pairing mode. Please help.

well after the amazon sale for paperwhite kids (16gb + case + 2yr warranty) for $115, I'll have to go with keeping the paperwhite.

I’m torn between this and the paper white. I want to get one of the page turner remotes… does anyone know if the page turner will work on this model?
I've been waiting for this Kindle since I found out about it, months ago. I seriously hope the battery is way better than Oasis. I read 5 hours a day, minimum.
It’s definitely better than the Oasis. But if battery life is the most important thing for you, the Paperwhite is the one to go for. It lasts much longer than both.

I do not know what to do. I got the latest paperwhite and this one too (in the new blue color!). I love both of them and I do not know which one I should keep and which one should go. What would you recommend?
The paperwhite 16gb basically costed me 50€ more than the 2022 one, so I do not know if is worth the price difference.
I ended up returning my Paperwhite Signature and kept the Kindle 2022. The differences are just too small and not important enough for me to keep it.
when you had both, was the paperwhite significantly heavier to hold, than the basic kindle?
@@delsmontgomery I’m used to the size and weight of the smaller size so, the bigger paperweight feels off for my hands especially when I’m reading in bed on my back. To me, it is. I’m sure you won’t feel it after awhile but the differences (features) are so small that it’s not worth the price.

But I ended up returning the basic. The paperwhite is just nicer when reading. The larger screen is so nice

If I hadn't gotten the Paperwhite for only 15 USD I would have gotten this model instead. The basic Kindle is perfect.

Hi, I can see that you have the book cover as your screen saver. How do I get mine to do this as it doesn’t have the display book cover option in the display options on settings??

I have the 2018 paperwhite. How much smaller is this? Is it worth getting this one for the smaller form factor?
I have the 2018 paperwhite as well and they are both 6 inches! 😊
@@jenniferhaggard5315 yes, the screen are both 6 inches but the casings are different in size. Paperwhite is slightly taller with narrower bezels.

These things don’t have the world’s quickest processor. I imagine the refresh is equalish.
Can you turn the light off? (For reading outside)
You can, just slide the brightness all the way down to '0'

Mine has not arrived yet but I believe PDFs are just as good on this kindle as they have been on previous ones. I never heard of emails on a kindle, but I believe there may be some way for you to read them on the web browser (which on my older Paperwhite model is horrible). If you are tech savvy and an iPhone user, there may be a way to automate sending your emails to Kindle as PDFs with Shortcuts

*BUYER BEWARE!* Amazon are selling the Kindle 2022 purportedly “without ads”, yet these devices clearly contain advertising in the form of lists on the home screen headed (and I quote), “Discover Books”, “Try Unlimited Reading & Listening”, “New releases in Kindle Store”, “Books that look great on Kindle” and “Most wished for Kindle books”.
This is a clear cut case of false advertising, attempting to sell devices labelled, “without advertising” that clearly, and by the definition of the Law, contain large quantities of advertising.

Horrendous battery life, lackluster LEDs, and isn’t waterproof. Go for the Paperwhite and skip buyers remorse.
I have an original 1st gen paperwhite and this is identical without the 3G and a better display resolution. The original paperwhite only had 4 LEDs as well. I hate the new paperwhite waterproofing. The screen is to glossy, and it feels terrible to me. Basic still has that classic screen. I guess it comes down to preference.
