As a fellow amateur poker player, I stand up every time I go all in, regardless of whether the hands over yet, or whether I’m holding the nuts. It’s just how I do.
This is actually something Phil Helmuth does. He gets angry that he lost, so he tries to make it out that the opponent did something “wrong”. Whether that something is poker related, etiquette related, or really anything. Ivey just got coolered in the longest and most grueling tournament, so I understand him uncharacteristically losing his composure there. That said, it’s very clear the opponent did nothing wrong (even if for example it was a bad call pre, there’s nothing inherently “wrong” with that). Just a rare showing of Ivey’s human side. Ya know, the one with emotions 😅

Duffy’s reaction was a totally normal one. Let’s forget about what each person has. Someone does not check and then snap call an all in on the river if he thinks he has lost. It should be obvious to Ivey, in his poker experience, that his opponent was excited and just got up. I’ve seen it many times watching poker on UA-cam and Ivey has seen it a lot more than me. So Ivey basically said, why are you celebrating at my expense.

Duffy’s reaction was a totally normal one. Let’s forget about what each person has. Someone does not check and then snap call an all in on the river if he thinks he has lost. It should be obvious to Ivey, in his poker experience, that his opponent was excited and just got up. I’ve seen it many times watching poker on UA-cam and Ivey has seen it a lot more than me.
