BRO!!! God Bless You!! Seriously, just leveled up my Abelton experience and fixed a year's worth of issues with other tracks in 2 seconds! Keep the content coming!
I felt like an idiot because Ableton is the first audio recording software I ever used, and as soon as I imported a song to record over, I had this issue. I went to amplitude but recently I didn't want to use their baked in effects for my tone, and finding this video I can finally start using Ableton for recording. Thanks a lot!
“Disable auto warp” doesn’t solve my issue personally. Audio I import into Ableton cannot be looped if warp is disabled, but enabling warp causes the loop to get scrambled because the automated beat detection is way off. This has been a problem for years, but there is an easy workaround: just disable warp and then resample! Disable warp on the loop, make sure the bpm is set correctly for the track, create a new audio channel and route the audio to it from the first, then record. The resampled audio will have the correct bpm and can be looped/warped.
I'm surprised that you have to do that, but I'll give it a try. I remember back using earlier versions, Live would do a way better guess at bpm when enabling warp. It doesn't even seem to work in version 11, so I'm stuck dragging warp markers at various transients all through the wav. Very time consuming
Thank you, you've one of the best content on UA-cam for this stuff, I have only watch two videos today from your page but it been very easy and smooth to understand, I'm on my Day#5 of using Ableton and 11 months in making music. I had some weird things going on but it seems like it's not related to warping but still I appreciate the video because it saves me time if something does occur later on.
Thank you so much the issue was driving me potty and away from Ableton Live into Audition then export as MP3 and into Ableton Live again. lol You've probably saved my sanity.
Hi. I'm curious if anyone know. From time to time in Ableton, my tracks gets haunted. They sounds possessed by a demon. I have no idea what triggers this, but it has happened 3 times in a week. My only solution has been to re-create the track. I must hit some kind of short cut on accident or something.. but yeah, anyone experienced something similar, where the entire track is just scewed and distorted without any sign of why?
You literally just saved my life... I was losing my damn mind. I'd like to explain what this fixed for me incase anyone runs into what I did. I uploaded a new beat into Ableton and pressed play. The beat sounded fine until the the first verse came in. The beats tempo randomly sped up for about 5 seconds and then slowed back down to normal. It literally only did it in that 1 spot on the song. After screaming my head off trying to figure it out, I came across this and it worked. The beat sounds fine now. If anyone can explain this to me, that would be great because I have NEVER ran into an issue like this before and I've made plenty of songs before this one. Anyway, thanks again and I hope my comment helped. I also subbed and liked! 🤙🤙
My issue is ill drop a complete song in to ableton and it it will find the tempo on the metronome, but when the breakdown comes on it remains at the original tempo it started at example tempo starts at 130 then goes down to 85 at the breakdown but remains at 130 and it distorts the track is there a way to get that to automatically switch tempos during a tempo change?
The absolute most relatable thing you said this whole video was "this is where you start questioning all your decisions in life and wondering what led you up to this point". I did that exactly lol
Thank you for explaining this. I’m using Ableton for the first time this month in class; I added in a loop, turned on the metronome and it wasn’t matching. I slowed the session tempo down, and it simultaneously changed the audio’s tempo too. 😂 Hopefully these settings will fix that.
okay, ive got mine turned off but when i drag an audio recording of someone speaking, It is acting like it is still being warped and so the speaking is all gittery and weird. does anybody know a fix?
Ty. Great video. Is there a solution for audio dropout? I saved my Als like normal. Opened it back up n now my audio drops out only on one part of the timeline. If I move the clip over to a different section in the TL Zit plays fine.
my ableton is doing a thing where the audio i record straight through the interface is kind of skipping a beat and tripping on itself. I troubleshooted its not the mic or interface but ableton itself because audition works perfectly fine. I've searched hours for a solution. Can anyone help
Thank you! This particular "long sample warp" was off but it alerted me to that section and I turned some other things off which fixed the problem. This literally just started happening out of nowhere over the past few days. Not sure what changed but I'm so thankful for you video so I can go back to editing my podcast!
I have an issue that I can't find the answer to anywhere - it's where I have an old Ableton 8 file that Ableton 10 has warped differently so that the clip sounds totally different. I have no idea how to fix it, do you have any ideas?
So i am learning to use Ableton for drum covers.. I dump my song in and change the tempo of the click to 88bpm... But a funny thing happens.. when I'm recording the song, the click seems to slow down and speed up! Help? LOL
I can never get a stem synced with Live. I'm fairly new at this, but you'd think if you know the stem's tempo, it would be easy to do. But when I drop a stem in Live, and I set the starting put (this is kind of clunky and could be part of the issue), Lives metronome and the stem drifts after a few seconds and never stays in sync. And the stem I'm using is just a simple kick and snare at 142 bpm. Why would the stem start drifting away from the metronome when both are at 142 bpm?
@@fromstudiotostage I've tried warping but it's really difficult going through various instrument tracks like guitar, bass, etc, and trying to stretch and shorten sections so that they line up to the grid. It takes hours and then sounds unnatural when I think I'm close.
daft feature to set as a default, thanks for the video as this was driving me insane! The cubase interface is so much better, pity it's engine is as sloppy as an old cart. Ableton is so much tighter
Hopefully this will solve my problems. Im considering to change Ableton with another program. It seems that it is the worst DAW for musicians who are playing real instruments and they aren't djs or electronic music producers.
OK, my guru. I look to you for all things Ableton... I am going from God So Loved (100 bpm) directly to Make Us One (99 bpm) in a set. I pulled in tracks for God So Loved and changed the song tempo via automation to 100 bpm (previous song is 115 bpm) at the song start. Then I pulled in Make Us One tracks and because I'm me I wanted to warp Make Us One up to 100 bpm. Nothing I tried worked. Auto-warp was off when I imported them. I selected all tracks, warped them to current song tempo, and the audio file click and my Ableton click were still off. I know most people will say "just change the Make Us One song tempo to 99 bpm via the automation, idiot." I did, but my uptight self wants to know WHY I can't get them to match up. I tried warping via beats, warping via complex, nothing worked. Is it because the two tempos are so close together?
A few different questions here.. Can you warp any song to any tempo in Live? Yes. Why isn't warping working for you with that file? That's impossible to know without seeing that file and seeing what you're doing, but it's certainly possible
There is a much better way of doing this. Leave the global setting as is. Set tempo to correct BPM. Import the sample. Switch to the waveform view of the sample. Unselect "WARP". Done. Now it's probably a good idea to enable warp again, so that once you change the tempo, this sample will be warped accordingly. So enable it again (and verify that BPM matches the tempo of the song). That's it...
thanks a lot, I spent hours trying to figure out what was wrong. You saved my sanity
THANK YOU!
Thank YOU! and thanks for the super thanks!!
