There are many kinds of yuccas here in Southern California. The beautiful Joshua Tree is one of them. The worst injury I ever saw involving one happened to a hiker bushwacking in the dark who fell into one on a hillside. Yes, they are like swords. That said, we have some in our yard and they are lovely. Glad to hear you only had a relatively minor injury.
The first time was the second night on trail, so maybe about mile 30. There were others nights that were windy as well. I can't recall the exact location, although pretty much anywhere out there can get windy.
I read somewhere, Mother Nature is neither good nor evil, but merely indifferent. Thanks for the video Jon.
Great info for my future PCT hike. Thanks for sharing!! Much appreciated!

Another great video Jon. I’m loving this series. Thanks for taking the time to to do this.
Thanks! Glad you like them.
Thanks for sharing your experiences with this important topic. Good information.
Rattlesnakes don't always rattle when you are near them.
Location where you experienced those crazy winds?

That tree in Warner Springs is famous! Bzzzzzzzz
The biggest potential threat is probably drunken idiots letting off gunshots around campsites at 2am 😅
Right?!? Lol!
Poison oak is the worst! I got it on my hands and went pee out in the forest. My penis swelled up like a beer can and I ended up in the ER. Ugh.
Sounds horrible!
Just a little dramatic.. Teeny bit.. 🤭😂
Yup, just a bit. It was something we all talked about on trail. “Why is everything trying to kill us!”
