    If you are considering an E3DE I made another video when I discovered it was smaller than a standard dreadnought. I compare it with my E10D here:

    I was in Sydney about 3 years ago, what a beautiful world class city, vibrant yet peaceful. I was really enjoying strolling along the walkway going towards the Sydney Opera House. You were also serving the best tasting coffee that I had come cross. I visited the Maton factory in Melbourne. I was surprised that they used Canadian maples. Almost all the guitar shops I had visited carried the Seagull line. The Eastman E2D-DC, all solid woods, Cedar top and sapele back and side will be my next guitar. Cheers from the Great Wild North!

      Hi Jimmy, I would love to visit Canada one day, I haven’t had that pleasure yet. The cedar top Eastman would be great. I like the Art and Lutherie guitars from Quebec. Haven’t owned a Seagull - yet 😅

    These are killer guitars! Eastman is rock’n it! A huge bang for the buck, if you can ignore the country of origin. All setups are done in the US, as well as quality control/finish checks/etc prior to shipping to dealers. Must be similar for Australia.
    I am shopping for two Eastmans, as I type this (that’s what brought me to this vid) I’m looking for a parlour, or single 0, 12 fret, slot head - and I’m looking for a 00-40 series, which is another 12 fret, slot head, but it’s all pearled out, like a Martin 41 series!
    I want to complete my “body sizes” collection. I have a Martin CEO-4R sunburst (slope shoulder) a Martin HD-28 square shoulder dread, a Martin 000-17, a Martin 00-17, a Martin 000-28 sunburst (this is my “main” acoustic), and a Guild F-30 (my “OM” style guitar) I also have a Martin SC-13e in Koa, for something kinda “freaky”, shape wise (lol)! Oh ya, I have a Gretsch Rancher 6000 series, for my maple “jumbo” - the J-200 killer - and it’s all bling-ed out like a White Falcon! And….these were the favourite of the White Stripes guitarist, when it came to acoustics!
    Yes, it’s a sickness! I have two resonators from Gretsch’s Historic series, I have two banjos, two crazy good mandolins, and an arsenal of Fender telecasters, and Gretsch hollow, and semi-hollow bodied guitars, as well as a number of Guild acoustics, including 12 strings, and several Godin electrics - a Montreal Premier II, an Acousticaster, and a Stadium.
    (and I’m still married!)
    Anyway, my MAIN point is - I don’t need to spend the premium $ on Martin single 0, and double 00 guitars to get instruments that will “fit” the quality of the rest of the collection - the Eastman guitars will fill the bill just fine, with zero sense of “compromising “ In fact, the two Eastmans will be stepping up, finish wise, from my two 17 series Martins. I have ALWAYS pined for a Martin Pearl-top, but they are out of my reach, and I’m not prepared to sacrifice any of my existing guitars
    Cheers, “Down Under”. All the way from the mountains of British Columbia, Canada!
    I enjoyed the vid! I’ll be looking for future guitar posts.
    Peace

      Hi my friend! I just subscribed to your channel. What a magnificent collection you have. That is a lot!! I like the look of the Eastman 00 a lot. There is one with the slot head and another more like a Gibson. And I’ve played their Parlour model but never owned one. Happy playing, I guess you deal with dry air up there not humidity, regards Nick

    Eastman guitars are fabulous. Made entirely by hand by professional master luthiers. Personally I find their guitars much better than Taylor guitars. Personally, I already own an Eastman AC 222 CE in Ovangkol and intend to acquire an Eastman Dreadnought very soon. Really great guitars.

      I keep coming back to the Eastmans. If you can’t afford the Martin, Taylor or Gibson they are a very good substitute. I also think they are getting better, especially as they are getting tips from Dana Bourgeois. I guess that makes their guitars even more bourgeois 😊👍💖

    Three years with my E1D and it gets better every day. Particularly enjoying medium strings that I put on a couple of months ago, though it took a few weeks to adjust.
    Wonderful guitars at sensible price points.

      Hi Banjo, I love the Eastmans. This E3DE is getting nicer all the time. Though maybe the E1D should win the prize for ‘best bang for buck’! That sapele is crisp!

    I made another video about this E3DE called 'Eastman Shrinkflation' when I realised the body is not as deep or as wide as my Eastman E10D and Eastman AC120. This did my head in for a while as the specs on the website are same as for the other Eastman Dreads, but this E3 is definitely smaller bodied; it is 4 1/2 deep rather than 4 23/32 inch at the lower bout an shallower at the upper bout too. It is also narrower in width in both the upper and lower bout. I wonder if they did this with this model in conjunction with adding the pickup? This is the only Traditional series that comes with a pickup. I am actually happy with the size, it doesn't have such a distended bottom end as the bigger body, still a lot of bottom end, but more balanced through the spectrum. Also lovely woodsy tone in the bottom strings in particular. And it keeps improving.

    I really enjoyed your video! I have the E10OM and the E3OM. Eastman are fantastic guitars, I can't believe the quality and tone they provide at a fraction of the Martin price with comparable specs!

      Couldn't agree more! I have been an Eastman fan for 10+ years now. Maybe 20! That said, I am playing my new Yamaha the most at the moment. I just uploaded a review of the LL16. Regards Nick

    I really should do a video review of the Eastmans I've encountered. They're beautiful, and sound great, BUT: I have had almost completely bad experiences with 6 of their instruments, usually to do with the frets or the nut cut. Even after paying a pro, these problems persisted.
    The only one I will keep out of all of the ones that have passed through my hands is the E1D. I have an AC308ce LTD I'm putting up for sale because one minute it's fine the next time I hit an open 1st string, it gives off this nasty pinched tone. Likely the nut.

      Sorry to hear you have had issues with the Eastmans. I just did some further fret levelling on the E3DE and touch wood I think I got a good one. If you don’t do adjustments yourself you need a friendly luthier you can trust. All the best from downunder👋

      @@turrafirmaguitarchannel haha. Keef as Mother Teresa. Yeah, when I buy a guitar, I do as much reseach as possible, and the only acoustics within my affordability range that have any appeal to me are Eastmans. I have Martins, Lakewoods, a nice American Guild jumbo, so I am difficult to please. Eastmans are the only guitars that hold their own against the Big Boys that cost at least 2x-3x the price.

    Love my E3DE.... Do you know what size the saddle is on this? Trying to get a replacement saddle.

    • @turrafirmaguitarchannel
      @turrafirmaguitarchannel  Рік тому

      Hi, I don’t know exact dimensions of the Eastmans saddles. Over the years I have ordered bone saddles from China. There are lots of sellers on eBay like this one:
      www.ebay.com.au/itm/321046251049?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=705-154756-20017-0&ssspo=mi4d6fmLT72&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=pe7hcoDwRh-&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
      You do need to tweak these using a file and sandpaper.
      If you just want to lower your saddle why not try taking your one out next time you change strings and sand it down by rubbing the base on fine sandpaper?
      Good luck!

    Sounds muffled

    • @turrafirmaguitarchannel
      @turrafirmaguitarchannel  Рік тому

      That is one way of putting it. To my ear the E3D is a warm and mellower sounding guitar than my E10D, which has Adirondack top and mahogany back and sides. The E10D has more snap and cut. I wonder if the wide grained sitka on the E3D is what makes it more muted in the trebles?
