Hes 100% right. I can attest to what hes saying when I'm relaxed I landed more punches and lasted longer. I think a big part of it is being mentally relaxed to.
@berserk You spar once in a while and eventually you will get used to it. If you are a beginner you will probably spar against people your level so their not dangerous. And if you face someone more skilled they'll probably go easier on you.
He is right but when you’re in a real life situation. Your brain might forget everything your learned. It’s beat to practice in the ring. It happens more often than not.
must be relax and rigid, important to be rigid, strong, both relax and rigid make the fighter strong and hard, tight the abdominal and keep it squeeze inside to protect your midsection, this start from u stance before u attack and defense, thank you coach anthony, we will train while other people doing silly things after we train they lost somewhere.
I always feel tense on my shoulders. Whatever I do, I can only relax for a couple of seconds and then I feel tense again. My coach said that I should stop lifting weights. The weight-lifting makes me always retract my muscles.
I think it’s more mental than physical. Exercising your muscles would only give you more control of them, but if you’re breathing shallow and overthinking then your body will always tense back up
@@AskConnerI'm intermediate boxer and I'm perfectly calm in my mind but sometimes whenever I'm sparring I noticed my shoulders is tight but then i relax but it's so hard for me to know if my shoulders are tight or not am I doing something wrong?
I agree. How do you expect to, "Snap" your punches if your all wound up to begin with? Most "Brusers " suffer from this due to "Planting" themselves while punching. True Boxers dance around the ring loose and fluid. Have them work on footwork and cutting the corners and watch them loosen up. Dan
Watch the video on UA-cam of Sugar Ray Leonard sparring watch how relax he is…..same thing with Ali he was so quick because he was fluid and relax Yes of course they’re pro’s with experience but I’m learning that being fluid & confident is the key Say to self “yes I will get hit but I will make my opponent pay as well”
I had sparring Today and my coach pulled me out the ring because he kept on shouting at me telling me to relax I didn’t know what he meant when saying that and It j confused
I need help bc whenever i do a spar and try to punch 100% my arms get stiff like my muscles are flexing, also my opposing muscles flex too so the punch becomes slower
Ok,so I do always remember to be relaxed while boxing and even at my beginner level I make sure to keep my body moving. BUT I do raise my shoulders for head protection and honestly from what I can observe most people do as well. Even when you're throwing your punches, you should kinda try to "hide" behing your shoulder. That's at least my understanding of it
True I’m the same and I believe that’s a good thing better than having your chin above your shoulders But before you throw I believe shoulders should be relaxed as possible It’s like same with hands have them open and relax then tense them and same with shoulders
My problem is tightening when the pressure comes onto me, its not fear of being hit, nor is it hurting, I just have habit of tightening up and then start over thinking, what tips do people have for maintaining the looseness?
What worked for me was saying in my head ‘stay relaxed’ that worked for me it’s natural to tense up when being someone is throwing at you but if once you see it as a game and being relaxed helps you win it
Experience will help but honestly tensing up is a natural thing just like being fearful in a fight is a natural thing The thing with boxing is tricking your body and mind to be relax doing a stressful activity that’s basically all boxing is
Do we clench the fist tight, just before the impact? Or does the fist stay obviously closed, but without being tight? Same with biceps, tight before impact, or relaxed and focus is on speed?
@@CoachAnthonyBoxing thanks coach. The right hand lands, is it in half a man(more bladed) position or full man(shoulders squared up to opponent) position. To I’ve seen both in boxers now and in the past. Also talk about the pros and cons of both positions in the video also how it connects with the 3.
Ok, thank for emphasizing the value of being relaxed. but how? 😁 That should be the content, right? I was expecting some tips and tricks on how to get loose in various body parts coach. Cheers.
Deep breathe in, let the shoulders rise, deep breath out and let your shoulders hang. When they’re hanging, stay there. Don’t tense your shoulders back up. Let them hang.

Relaxed punches are faster than tensed punches

People often tell me to relax. Phew, I'm glad I found this video.
Very good advice thank you couch I've been boxing a long enough time but sometimes still forget how massive been relaxed while boxing it is 👊
Just the video I needed after today’s session. I tend to overcommit on my defense.
💯💯💪🏽
Extremely useful advice, need more trainers like Coach Anthony.
Im only tight when im shadowboxing. Im really relaxed on Heavy bag and in sparring
Sound advice. I can see a difference in my boxing already.

Problem is staying relaxed while remembering to clench my fist on impact, not hit em with the limp wrist.

Love the channel Coach! I just wanted to ask you other than repetition what’s your best way to improve punch speed?

Great video I really love your swagg in boxing can you post a video on how do you use your swagg far as rhythm and body movements in boxing
Sometimes i get too tense with throwing combinations, and end up holding my breath while I’m throwing 🥴
💯💪🏽
To not hold your breath, exhale with every punch, when you see guys on heavy bags make sounds with every punch, thats what they’re doing
Nice 💯

Me too bro I still struggle with, I don’t know what to 😂

I've heard guys say you don't squeeze your fist until like impact

At what stage do you not relax coach to be efficient, with power during the jabbing.?
Random question coach. Why do you have to keep your nose behind your knee when throwing the right hand?
I will make a video

Do I throw a punch with a tight fist or a loose fist?
keep your fists loose until just before impact. Then upon impact, squeeze tightly.
