    He's not deliberately being sarcastic. He's just in a bad mood after getting that close to a championship.

    That italian guy actually asked a pretty good question. Pop mocked him instead of answering it.
    By fouling at end of regulation, Ray Allen wouldn't have been able to hit that 3 pointer to send it to Overtime. I remember it vividly, the Spurs were up by 3, Bron had the ball, and instead of the Spurs fouling Bron (who isnt that great of a free throw shooter), they let him shoot it. Then Bosh got the rebound, passed it to Ray, and Miami won the series.
    Popovich doesnt even take the question serioisly and instead asks "is that how they do it in Europe?". Pop, if you actually fouled the Heat, you would be a 2013 Champion.

      he just responded, "that's an european question, right?" cause in europe in that situation they commit a foul and pop knows that.

      Yeah that was a horrrible moment for Pop. Can’t believe he dismissed that by saying we don’t do that in America. So obnoxious. Fouling Bron would have been tough because he had some space. But fouling bosh was doable. Media didn’t even give pop a hard time for saying that

      That’s a retarded viewpoint.
      It’s a logical fallacy.

    I thought the question about not fouling when up 3 was a great one, would have liked to have heard a real answer for that one instead of mocking the reporter for being European.

      Manu and Kawhi had each missed foul shots so they easily could’ve kissed one and the heat had a shot to tie with a field goal

    The biggest irony in all of this is that Popovich held himself to this "keep the game simple and don't overthink it" narrative - and he totally thought himself out of winning this game. "Going small defending the three" is fine but a 3pt shot is still a 50-50 proposition for even the best players so you simply have to contemplate that it misses and you never want to give up a second chance which is EXACTLY what happened and with disastrous consequences. If you watch the play, the Spurs totally mess it up so badly it defies belief. Ginobili and Green have no idea what to do under the basket and Bosh is completely alone at the bottom of the rim and gets a simple board from a ball that does nothing strange. This is what happens when you put a lineup out there that hasn't played together and nobody really knows what their role is. It's so bad that their biggest guy on the floor, Diaw, is defending the Lebron shot (that misses), completely debunking the point of going small to begin with. Bottom line, nobody can convince me that if Duncan is there he isn't under the basket and in the very least making it extremely hard for Bosh to get his hands on it and that is literally all it would have taken for the Spurs to win this and the title. So why is Popovich so angry/defensive? Well he gives his classic coach defense and will never concede anything but ultimately he's human and he knows he f-ed it up. And he did.

    Popovich lost a fan after this press conference. SA was up by 3 pts 12 seconds left and Pop let Miami taking back to back shots to tie the game instead of fouling on the floor and putting Miami at the FT line. Even Miami would made both FT's SA would get the ball back still up by 1 pts. Pop cost SA lose the championship with this poor decision (flipping the coin) and even worse he didnt accept his mistake at the press conference.

    • @jasonstewart194
      @jasonstewart194 5 місяців тому

      You are right on all counts. I think it's a 50-50 if you want to give the Heat the 3 or foul them but it ended up perfect because the guy you wanted taking the 3 was Lebron who simply wasn't a good 3pt shooter at this point in his career. And the result you wanted happened too. But the real error is having a lineup out there under immense pressure that had little experience playing together. NOBODY is boxing/on Bosh who is standing right under the rim - the guy that would have been was Tim Duncan and you pulled him out of the game in the most important moment. Being totally unable to accept his mistake and own it is terrible but also the most American thing ever so no surprise here.

    Coaches usually takes bigs out when a 3 is coming. They prefer perimeter defense over rebounding. And Duncan is great but he is as slow as they come.

    • @jasonstewart194
      @jasonstewart194 5 місяців тому

      Yeah - so how was it that it was Boris Diaw (their biggest guy on the floor) defending James on the perimeter for that shot? Meanwhile under the basket you have Manu and Danny Green not knowing where to be and nobody is boxing out Bosh who gets a simple rebound right at the front of the rim. All this is because you have a lineup out there that has played very little together and especially under such pressure. This is classic example of "overthinking" it. Just have your best player on the damn floor

      3 point shots are hard to make i don't get why they should have fouled bosh or chamlers when lebron had the ball one second then everything moved to fast it seemed like only Allen could have been fouled in that situation.
