"Deconstructions" Dark Surreal Digital Portrait in Timelapse (Photoshop)

This is a time lapse video of a digital painting in creation. The art video shows the painting process of a surreal digital portrait in timelapse. The painting features a digital portrait of a woman who is dissolving.
As usual, my topics are the human machine and the nexus of machine and human. For this work, I chose a dark surreal art style. Dark surrealism is dreamy but slightly darker than regular surrealism, which can be quite playful in its deconstruction of reality. The deconstruction of the woman in the picture is to be read metaphorically, as many things in modern life are continually changing and identity is something to be defined every day, with and without the media.
This digital painting is made in Adobe Photoshop and the video edited with Adobe Premiere Pro. I am finally starting to get the hang of the programs! You can watch how to paint a digital portrait in photoshop step by step and in time lapse.

I absolutely love how you add the stages. Stage 1 Creative mess is great 🤣 it's absolutely fascinating watching you build up the layer's and use the basis shapes to create something so detailed.

Thanks! I try different approaches to find out which ones suit best for my art. This one is more painterly (built masses then add details). Usually I go for sketch/lineart first to get that comic style appearance. Let's see where things are going eventually, there is so much one can do. :)

Haven't done that yet. Only the other way around to make the art fit and more interesting for T-Shirt print. I am good at digitalizing but not at printing but I wanted to look into that during summer break. I'd really love to put up and sell art prints.
