I'm surprised by the amount of quality in some of these games. As someone familiar with this trend of 100 hidden cat games, I had always expected that a developer came along and started making these and then some other greedy developers came along and cashed in on an emerging trend with some awful, cheap knockoffs. Seems some genuine effort went into a decent bit of these and that 75% of the games you looked at you felt comfortable recommending (at least, to an extent). Great video, as always.

Even if you're not making a hidden object game, this does highlight the importance of a few things for general game design: - Strive for a readable environment. The more well received games on this list often had settings that weren't just random trash piled up to hide the objects, but rather those that created a cluttered and chaotic- yet still readable- play space. - Focus on clear objectives. In this list, we can see the most direct example of the opposite of this being Anatolly's Hidden Cups game. - Also, we can learn lessons even from the bad games. Those AI-generated ones, while abysmal to look at (and I'm sure worse to actually play), do have clearer objectives than some other entries on the list. As long as we're coming at it from that POV (instead of a, y'know, gamer POV) I think these are great! That thing about how some of these games had 100 achievements when there was reason to have 101+ made me go 'Oh! 100 achievements must be a Steam-mandated limit.' Then I looked it up and it appears the actual limit is...5000 achievements?? Holy crap that's a lot still. But...so...that's not the reason. How very odd. Oh, and I look forward to you eventually hitting the 'A ____ Full of Cats' series. It'll be 100 Hidden Cats, part 2! I'm sure you're excited for it. (Unironically, I actually played An Arcade Full of Cats and it was...actually kinda cute. Had little cutscenes, a bit of a story.)
To be fair, with 100 hidden items, having 100 achievements means there is one per whatever is hidden. If these were one of those achievement-spam-games who only exist to give someone an ungodly amount of achievements in as little time as possible, it would go for full 5000 for just having the game running for a few minutes. And yes, those "games" exist.
@@gimok2k5 This is true for most of the games, but later in the video Graeldon also covered some '101 hidden objects' games that still only gave 100 achievements, meaning that one creature/thing in the set of 101 was being rejected from having an achievement for seemingly no reason. This is what my original comment was referring to as far as this just being weird.
@@CharemTheShadoxcan't confirm this exactly, but the developer for HoloCure has a game with 162 achievements, only 84 of which got approved for Steam. Something to do with seeing the influx of people getting achievements all of a sudden and Steam seeing it as an "achievement farm", or general means of scamming their system. I wonder if the 101s are under similar restrictions, due to how quickly the achievements are gained? I can't know personally, I'm neither valve nor the devs, but I imagine they put in 101 achievements and Steam only accepted 100 for whatever reason
@@falpsdsqglthnsac He covered these out of order too for the sake of making it all into one video, so he might do the same for those as well (if they ever manage to make it there to begin with, not only getting out of Number Zone but also getting far enough into A games)
It's nice to see that some developers do still try and put some effort in some of these games. Despite being overall a pretty bottom of the barrel kinda style of game with little creativity. Also there's a special place in hell for people who put in so little darn effort in their games (Literally a form of art), as to use AI and such like this. Pathetic truly.
the actual ai slop games even made me appreciate (however minimally) the first F tier game. As a mashup of clipart and photos run through a outline filter, it could still be considered a collage and took some human effort in picking and placing the images together. i almost felt bad that that had to be in the same tier as the ai trash.
i think its nicer to look at these as interactive pieces of art, completely different intention compared to even puzzle games and its closer to a jigsaw puzzle than games you would find people rating as games. the ai games are truly shit, the rest you can tell some love went into them, the ai games were made by some guy looking to quickly make money and were probably automatically made.
I dont know if the 100 ___ cats developer has implemented this but a cool idea for finishing the level would be to color in the full image then let you save it to put as a desktop background for all the cat ladies to use on their gaming PCs
Stumbled upon this video and thought "wow, what a nice AND long video, I've been able to watch parts of it for three nights in a row" so of course I clicked out of full screen to subscribe, only to realise that the video was "only" an hour long... I really have no idea how it took me three nights to get through bc I really enjoyed it but I feel like it's the entire "oh well I've watched like 30 games now, time for sleep" so I can't imagine how long this felt like to actually play through, but it was really fun to watch!
13:00 for this "game", not only did they take a bunch of random images, they also took a bunch of random image and then ran it through photoshop's lineart filter to make it look like a drawing, if you know how that filter looks then it's very obvious that's what they used
I found the comment at the end about only likeing or commenting if you enjoyed the video somewhat amusing, as my first thought after hearing that was "If someone spent an hour and got to the end, I would certainly hope they enjoed the video"
I would love to know more about the history of these games. The first time I saw this concept on steam apart from old/classic hidden object games was "I commissioned some bees", which sounded like a cool idea and had great art. But what started this trend, and what is the creative process behind this. I'm pretty surprised there weren't a lot more AI generated games in this list.
The trend of this type of game started just barely before Stable Diffusion and the like caught on. A standard and expectation was pretty much already set.
Back again after several months, checking up how the series is going. Immediately see you thrusting yourself into some new torture method. Yep, it's Graeling time.
Kinda funny how your hellish aventure can ease the load on someone's else personal temporary hell. Just yesterday I was working on about a dozen databases for regression and, I swear in name of all things even remotally holy, every *byte* of those damned things were giving me a different headache, I've spent the whole afternoon a half of my night of a saturday after a extended holiday *just* filtering data and I was dreading (I still am a little) about doing the actual regression and what other nightmare is gonna occur even though now It's the hopefully easy part. So yeah, someone's else suffering for entertainment can ease up other's folk suffering, you've just earned a few more bricks for your house in heaven, my friend.
See the thing is, downloading all the free cat ones and smashing them out while listening to this very video was a decent enough use of an hour. I'll give any of the free ones a slight modicum of credit for being honest about their realistic value.
Something I heard somewhere, don't know if it's true, but Wally/waldo's real name is Waldorf. That's why it's different in different regions of the world.
Alright Guys its official Graeldon lost his Sanity over this, See you after he is back from the Asylum. (Do you write it like that idk never played the Game)
Well, my guess was close... I thought there wouod be five S-tier games. I'm also surprised by the number of A and B tier games (ie, there are more than I thought there would be). Oh, about the person who spent ten hkurs on one of the games... He may have a vision issue like me. I have a form of dyslexia that can make spatial relations a bit difficult at times. I feel pretty certain that many of these games would take 2x-3x longer to complete than you...
That's a great point, some kind of impairment like that could explain the longer play time. They may also have left it idling by accident, or in order to get steam trading cards (I can't recall if that specific game had them, but some of the games featured in this video did)
20:48 Oh, Void Stranger... A game far above those shown in this video, and one which will abjectly never ever feature in this quixotic quest of a series
I was intrigued by the title but when I realized what you were going to discus I was worried. I thought this was going to be boring and hell, but you actually somehow made and hour long video game about the same simple game interesting. I'm impressed and amazed.
This series is playing every game on steam in alphabetical order. These games have all been grouped not just because they're all incredibly similar but because they are all in a row alphabetically.
Wally. Also, didn't you try and get a refund for the cupcake one? O_o It was added to the price tally, even though you didn't manage to get it working, so I'm just wondering if it's just sth that happened off-screen, or if you just didn't bother to do it. Cthulhu Fish and all of the 3D ones look fun btw.
I couldn't get a refund because I bought all the games at the same time and Steam is silly and won't let me refund a single game, I'd have to refund all of them, which would definitely get my account flagged. Plus I bought them back in December, so I'm sliiightly over the 2 week return window. Fun fact: I actually can't leave a Steam review for that game. Not sure why, there just isn't an option on the store page.
@@Graeldon wow, that’s cool to know. But was it a bundle, or was the a single-time checkout for multiple products in your cart enough of a reason to not let you refund a single item? Because if it’s the latter, then it kinda sucks
First video I've seen of you, immediately subscribed. That must have taken you so much effort, with all the editing and commentary. Thank you for your sacrifice :D
One of my favorite videos of yours! I hope for your sake you never run into another 50 super similar games, but if it means I get another hour long graeldon I wouldn't mind.
It is fascinating how so many of these are cat-based. I suppose your point is true; due to cats’ liquid nature, they can be easier to hide but still be recognizable, but it is still very odd to note. Thanks for the awesome video! I can’t believe you took the time to do this lol, and it is so well-done 😁
The mad lad he done it! Great video man! Can we vote to skip the next bach osf1000/1001 things to find? I think we already have an good grasp of the genre...
i have an idea to improve titles of your steam sequence videos if you're still struggling with visibility. a title format like "reviewing every steam game | [game]" could work really well imo even if it's repetitive.
I did actually try something similar previously, but the videos actually performed worse, which was unexpected, so I went back to more unique titles for each video. Seems like it works well if you have an established audience a bit bigger than the community I have so far
I did not notice this video was an hour long! It was engaging and fun, strangely entertaining for the fact it is about funding some objects and the commentary was great! I had a good time!
What will you do about jigsaw games? At least on mobile they include like 1000 jigsaws in one game... Just put them on lowest number of pieces? Or go for steam achievements like the sudoku game?
Glad to see another game I played (100 hidden cats) featured in this series! I had a pretty lovely time with it when I played it (even if the last three cats really eluded me!), and was happy to see it reach A tier. I'm also inclined to check out the Kookys game because it looks super cute and also fun! I'm in need of more simple, casual games that I can just pick up and play for some minutes to unwind :3
Love that you stuck it through and managed to make a great video out of all this! Managed to actually get into the minuscule nuance of these games, admirable amount of effort considering how little was put into the games!
I don't know why, but your profile picture is somehow quite cursed to me. It's as if Frisk became an adult and got stuck in a dull 9-5 job, completely out of the whimsical and adventurous setting of the game itself.
As someone who has a cat, the description of a head, triangle ears, tail and round body is spot on. Can't tell how many times my cat looked like a chicken when she loafs, or liquid when she melts in a box and becomes one with it. First video ive seen of yours but loving the calm but chaotic energy.
Great video as always. Love to like, subscribe, and engage with your content! WHY DOES THE ALGORITHM HATE YOU GRAELDON WHAT IS IT GOING TO TAKE DO I NEED TO GO TO THE UA-cam BROADCASTING STUDIO AND SHAKE MR TUBE UNTIL HE SEES SENSE ahem sorry hope you keep putting out these amazing, funny, polished videos, on the popular subject of bad and overlooked games, on a pretty consistent schedule, LIKE YOU HAVE FOR A YEAR PLUS, SO THAT THEY CAN APPEAR ON APPROXIMATELY NOBODY'S FEED APPARENTLY, HOW ARE YOU NOT CONSTANTLY FURIOUS
Oh it's all bottled up inside and directed towards incompetent game devs. But seriously, thank you for the kind words! I'll keep making fun content simply for the people here that enjoy it!
Wow, how's your eyes? I swear just 3 of these just blinded me for a weekend. I'm gonna have that as my guess as well, 3 games that strained your eyes slightly less.
I feel like the last one would be fun to stream. Some of those dogs did weird things, and you could do like, archaeology, figuring out what various places were used for.
Worst thing about 100 hidden animalnauts by far imo is that depending on your screen resolution you may be cut off from the sides and be stuck missing one achievement since the game can't be launched in windowed mode I've played pretty much every game in this series Anatoily has made, since they have a degree of variety and effort behind them that I can deeply appreciate. I avoid the 100 cozy games entries since their decision to make a banana-style clicker game didn't sit well with me (and, less importantly their HOGs are really boringly easy)
100 Hidden Istanbul Cats was great And better than where you placed it It's also accurate to the real world just because of the fact there are so many cats on the streets of turkey
Unless you get a PHD in anthropology, you're not allowed to appreciate different cultures Aka Calling this "culturally insensitive" is snowflake behavior
i had noticed a few months ago that there were a near infinite number of hidden cat games on steam and found it strange but cute as many of the people who pumped them out seem to mainly be doing because they loved cats so much, there are games like tower of cats where the dev pictures are the cats that they have, its very sweet
I love this video and am excited for similar. It's a perfect amount of information from a lovely personality to turn off my brain for a bit and just enjoy downloading facts. Thanks and I hope you make another one. Take care. =)
I am ~half way through the video, at the start I thought 0 or 3 would be S, then I realized it was specifically in the context of 100 hidden games, and revised to 0 or 5. Looking forward to finding out if I won my nothing or not! I have now finished the video. I did not win my nothing. Very sad.
Dang! Definitely subscribing after this; I’ve seen a few videos of yours before but this is just a demonstration of your sheer commitment! Now: can you find 100 Hidden Supportive Comments?
I'm not sure how an hour-long video about hidden object games could be entertaining, but, hey, you managed to make that possible. Great video! Also, Waldo. 😉
This gives me a great idea for a game. "100 hidden shapes" it plays the same as all of these games, but I've just selected random shapes in the background which need to be found. Also, Waldo

I can't know personally, I'm neither valve nor the devs, but I imagine they put in 101 achievements and Steam only accepted 100 for whatever reason
he's going alphabetically, so "a __ full of cats" will be more spread out among the a's
@@falpsdsqglthnsac He covered these out of order too for the sake of making it all into one video, so he might do the same for those as well (if they ever manage to make it there to begin with, not only getting out of Number Zone but also getting far enough into A games)
The next upcoming game in this series, "100 Hidden Pieces Of Graeldon's Sanity" Assuming any of these devs watched this video.
13:00 for this "game", not only did they take a bunch of random images, they also took a bunch of random image and then ran it through photoshop's lineart filter to make it look like a drawing, if you know how that filter looks then it's very obvious that's what they used
This makes me excited for you to get to try Hidden Folks, which when compared to a lot of these games, will be leaps and bounds ahead.
52:20 there is a limit of 100 achievements for "unverified"/profile features limited games.
I found the comment at the end about only likeing or commenting if you enjoyed the video somewhat amusing, as my first thought after hearing that was "If someone spent an hour and got to the end, I would certainly hope they enjoed the video"
Well you never know who might skip to the end just to see the final results!
2 left thumbs has a video on it "this new trend is breaking steam" very informative, might scratch that itch of yours
Back again after several months, checking up how the series is going.
Immediately see you thrusting yourself into some new torture method.
Yep, it's Graeling time.
Welcome back =)
100% Orange Juice is approaching
Woah, that 100 Hidden Frogs 2 game looks AMAZING!
You're all caught up now, that was fast! Thanks for being a part of the community ❤️
oh man im glad i played along with the ASMR bit there, what a payoff at the end
Glad you enjoyed that moment, it was super fun to put together!
YIkes, that 1001 Jigsaw puzzle video sounds like it's gonna be a monotonous chore.
See the thing is, downloading all the free cat ones and smashing them out while listening to this very video was a decent enough use of an hour. I'll give any of the free ones a slight modicum of credit for being honest about their realistic value.
"I want you to close your eyes for a bit"
I'm driving but I always do what Graeldon says...
Kidding I'm not driving watching this
Something I heard somewhere, don't know if it's true, but Wally/waldo's real name is Waldorf. That's why it's different in different regions of the world.
25:26 i was imagining a creature coming up to me here. but i did not think it would be a transition into an actual sea monster that was too funny!
They may also have left it idling by accident, or in order to get steam trading cards (I can't recall if that specific game had them, but some of the games featured in this video did)
Looking forward to the 3 hours long jigsaw puzzle vid now tbh
20:48 Oh, Void Stranger... A game far above those shown in this video, and one which will abjectly never ever feature in this quixotic quest of a series
It has been live streamed though, and I have a Side Quest review planned for it in my backlog =)
100% ORANGE JUICE COMING UP SOOON HELLL YEAHHHHH
Hell yeah!
I was intrigued by the title but when I realized what you were going to discus I was worried. I thought this was going to be boring and hell, but you actually somehow made and hour long video game about the same simple game interesting. I'm impressed and amazed.
I'm glad you enjoyed the content! This was a fun video to make =)
5:24 so that was a lie.
Hats off, you found all. By the way, what happens when you play a survival game with no endpoint?
Not sure if they count since they don't have 100 in the name, but "travellin cats" also made a bunch of games where you find 100 cats
This series is playing every game on steam in alphabetical order. These games have all been grouped not just because they're all incredibly similar but because they are all in a row alphabetically.
that final frog also destroyed me :(
7 S-tier. I'm calling it right now. Let's see if I'm in the ballpark.
Finished watching. Looks like not only I overshot my mark a bit, but I also learned Turkish citizens don't like being thought of as Arabs. At all.
Since the start of this series, these were the games I was most intrigued to see. Had a grand time!
First video I've seen of you, immediately subscribed. That must have taken you so much effort, with all the editing and commentary. Thank you for your sacrifice :D
Thanks for checking out the nonsense on this channel! Hope you enjoy it!
One of my favorite videos of yours! I hope for your sake you never run into another 50 super similar games, but if it means I get another hour long graeldon I wouldn't mind.
Hour long videos can be pretty fun, they just take a while to produce!
Also cats are a pretty safe choice for the publisher, as they're the "meme" animal, one of the universally loved ones, alongside puppies.
Mmm very true very true
The mad lad he done it! Great video man!
Can we vote to skip the next bach osf1000/1001 things to find? I think we already have an good grasp of the genre...
I'll likely only cover them in detail if there is anything unique or interesting in them to discuss. I do my best not to bore everyone!
i have an idea to improve titles of your steam sequence videos if you're still struggling with visibility.
a title format like "reviewing every steam game | [game]" could work really well imo even if it's repetitive.
I did actually try something similar previously, but the videos actually performed worse, which was unexpected, so I went back to more unique titles for each video. Seems like it works well if you have an established audience a bit bigger than the community I have so far
For the Istanbul game I guess the dev just thought "Turkey is an Islamic country so it must be just like Saudi Arabia "
I did not notice this video was an hour long!
It was engaging and fun, strangely entertaining for the fact it is about funding some objects and the commentary was great!
I had a good time!
100 Hidden Frogs 2 looks cool. Just a solid 7/10 hidden object/puzzle game.
I can't believe that you're still doing this series. Can't wait for when we reach the games starting with "2"!
Grael has emerged from the trenches with an hour of content? Praise be! (Though giving 3/4 of these games a thumbs-up seems a bit generous...)
Found this on the steam reviews page. Fire video lol
Thanks for giving my content a go!
20:46 ahh, my favourite catchphrase of Canadians!
What will you do about jigsaw games? At least on mobile they include like 1000 jigsaws in one game... Just put them on lowest number of pieces? Or go for steam achievements like the sudoku game?
You are a legend for doing this.
The hero nobody needs
5:31 Hello from the future!
I love how he thought speeding up would let him make an under hour vid
But if this is speedup we would be here for 3 if it wasnt then
Wow, how's your eyes? I swear just 3 of these just blinded me for a weekend. I'm gonna have that as my guess as well, 3 games that strained your eyes slightly less.
I think I just glazed over at some point. I had to take regular breaks because I was constantly missing things that should've been super obvious.
The video literally started 1s ago, and my cat want to know why this invisible cat interrupted her nap.
meow. meow. meow.
I feel like the last one would be fun to stream. Some of those dogs did weird things, and you could do like, archaeology, figuring out what various places were used for.
Popping in once again to tell you how much I appreciate your dedication to your craft. Thank you making it through hidden object hell.
Worst thing about 100 hidden animalnauts by far imo is that depending on your screen resolution you may be cut off from the sides and be stuck missing one achievement since the game can't be launched in windowed mode
I've played pretty much every game in this series Anatoily has made, since they have a degree of variety and effort behind them that I can deeply appreciate.
I avoid the 100 cozy games entries since their decision to make a banana-style clicker game didn't sit well with me (and, less importantly their HOGs are really boringly easy)
Wow, you really did all of that. Graeldon you're an inspiration for every gamer to keep on keeping on. Good for you, buddy.
Thanks for the kind words! I'll keep pressing onwards!
100 Hidden Istanbul Cats was great
And better than where you placed it
It's also accurate to the real world just because of the fact there are so many cats on the streets of turkey
Unless you get a PHD in anthropology, you're not allowed to appreciate different cultures
Aka
Calling this "culturally insensitive" is snowflake behavior
Haven't watched the two previous videos, but you're doing a good damn job. I haven't watched the full video yet, but I'm liking it so far!
I've always known him as Waldo
i had noticed a few months ago that there were a near infinite number of hidden cat games on steam and found it strange but cute as many of the people who pumped them out seem to mainly be doing because they loved cats so much, there are games like tower of cats where the dev pictures are the cats that they have, its very sweet
I recommanded "Shy Cats Hidden Tracks - Paris", a musical hidden cats game for free with good things
I love this video and am excited for similar. It's a perfect amount of information from a lovely personality to turn off my brain for a bit and just enjoy downloading facts. Thanks and I hope you make another one. Take care. =)
To be fair the 100 hidden cups is an awesome troll if thats what it was intended to be
I only expected two entries for S Tier, so I guess I can be pleasantly surprised at four, despite your anguish. 😅
If I was given the task of completing all of the games in this video, I would surely perish…😅 I felt your pain watching this, wow-
I am ~half way through the video, at the start I thought 0 or 3 would be S, then I realized it was specifically in the context of 100 hidden games, and revised to 0 or 5. Looking forward to finding out if I won my nothing or not!
I have now finished the video. I did not win my nothing. Very sad.
love the ratings. you are amazing.
Dang! Definitely subscribing after this; I’ve seen a few videos of yours before but this is just a demonstration of your sheer commitment! Now: can you find 100 Hidden Supportive Comments?
Thanks! I'm very lucky to have a super supportive community!
I'm not sure how an hour-long video about hidden object games could be entertaining, but, hey, you managed to make that possible. Great video!
Also, Waldo. 😉
Just found your channel and LOVE IT ... and yes the longer the better lol for gaming and work ❤
@sickfukpatrol1983 glad you're enjoying it!
Bro hasn't seen a cat loaf
This gives me a great idea for a game. "100 hidden shapes" it plays the same as all of these games, but I've just selected random shapes in the background which need to be found. Also, Waldo
