All of us share this world for but a brief moment in time. The question is whether we spend that time focused on what pushes us apart, or whether we commit ourselves to an effort -- a sustained effort -- to find common ground, to focus on the future we seek for our CHILDREN, and to RESPECT the dignity of all human beings?
If only everyone could see the sense both these men have just shared. After all, what is happening is not solving anything only causing more pain and hatred.
"Both sides have deep roots to the land" - this once sentence is the root of everything. With this sentence you can build peace, without it's impossible.
30:41 You make so much sense. So many fingers in the pie!!! It would be so good to see both sides lay down their bias, their fears, anger and justifications, this is not a quick fix but without each side owning their part in the problem no long term viable future will be possible.
*"The Jew of Malta"* is a play written by Christopher Marlowe, believed to have been composed around 1589. The plot revolves around Barabas, a wealthy Jewish merchant living in Malta during the sixteenth century. Here's a brief summary:
Barabas begins as a prosperous and influential figure, but due to political intrigue and manipulation, he loses his wealth. The governor of Malta confiscates his assets to finance the defense of the island against the Turks. Barabas, seeking revenge, involves himself in various schemes.
The political climate intensifies, involving conflicts between Malta and the Ottoman Empire. Barabas, ultimately consumed by his own greed and revenge, orchestrates a complex web of betrayal. However, his plans unravel, leading to a tragic and violent conclusion.
"The Jew of Malta" is known for its depiction of a cunning and Machiavellian protagonist and explores themes of greed, religious conflict, and the consequences of unchecked ambition.
"the world doesn't love Jewish and Arabas doesn't love palestines, we only have each other" I just want peace for them and specially por palestines justice but looks so difficult at this point.

Having dignity for oneself means extending the branch of peace to the other, rather than oppressing others by aiming one's gun barrel at them, which is an untenable solution because all human being naturally will rebel against oppression, and sooner or later, the tables will turn, so it's best to learn to live in harmony where everyone sits at the same table. 😘
I think there's a lot of truth that's said here. Both sides need to deal with their extremists. However, there's a big difference to a country which has an organized military system, backed by the United States, and a country that, out of desperation, literally committed an act of horrible terror in some crazy circumstances. I mean these people literally flew into a party in Israel with self-made crappy helicopters and machine guns... which ironically were probably also supplied by the US.
It's a shame that decades of extremism gets rewarded with even-handed solutions. So much deception and bad faith acting by the Arabs overall.... Nu, what can we do? Gotta make the best of a bad situation.
It's a pity they have absolutely no policy influence. Both sides want total destruction and are just as bad as each other. They've both completely lost sight of all humanity.

This conflict all boils down to My guy in the sky is better than your guy in the sky. When mankind can leave religion behind will be the day when peace will blossom
I don't think so. The beginning of all this was the mass immigration of European Jews to that land. "Guy in the sky" was put to the picture of now Israel state in order to claim "validity" to that land. To emphasize that, they invite all Jews to live there, promoting "the land of Jews". The fact that Palestinians were shoved aside is merely because they are Arabs, viewed as inferior to western white supremacist. But since that apartheid state use "Jews" as core to their "validity" of that land, naturally "Islam" was viewed as the opposing side, moreover most Arabs are muslims. You notice that Christian Palestinians were not regarded as such "opposing power". They are also victims there, they must want to be free too. But since they are minority, and Jews are somehow seen align with Christianity, all we see for the last 8 decades are Islam vs Jews in this Palestine vs Israel narrative. Only now that Israel attacks on Palestine are on unimaginable level we all search for the truth. Now that information are available for free, no bullsh8t narrative works anymore. So, No, this is not about the guy in the sky.

Almost All what you said is good on theoretical level, only if we aren't talking about a state that uses an occupied land as weapons labs, who doesn't offer birth right to people who are completely disconnected from that land. We are talking about state that went far and beyond in children rights. The whole foundation of this what so called state is not acceptable. Saying so of course it's not acceptable to build a Palestinian nation on the bodies of innocent people. Nor deny anyone's right to have a dignified life. But it's hard really to imagine that the state of Israel will be held back by non violence resistance. In all history, people tried to raise their voice but they couldn't bare a chance against a loby that worked for decades.

They literally have a timestamp called:"We are not equal". I understand why you think people in Gaza don't have time or circumstances to enable them to reflect on what worked so far and what hasn't. Most Israelis are also not exactly in a self reflective mode. But that time will come, because there is no other way.

There will only be lasting peace when Jesus comes. Pity those on the wrong side of this battle. Hamas is evil. Palestinians are not. God speaks of hamas in the Bible. Israel will be judged as well for not believing that Jesus died for our sins. 2600 years people. Read your Bible . Its all there.
That's not true. Most of Palestinian want to get rid of Jews. So don't sugarcoat and even lie about this peaceful mindset Palestinian people have to work on in contrast to the majority of Israeli people. So they are not on the same level. Now after hamas which was elected and supported by 73 per cent of the gazans and 89 percent by the Palestineans of Judea and Samaria is going to lose the war against Israel, there is a chance of starting a peaceful coexistence with Israel. But should be closely monitored by Israel, the winner of the unprovoked war and all Palestinian perpetrators ought to be put to justice. UNRWA must be replaced by a true aid organization that is also in charge of the many Jewish refugees from Arab countries
As a friend of Palestinians, I can say that they just want to get rid of Zionists and they respect Jews. Zionists started the Israeli-Palestinian war and the reason Zionists won at the start of the war (the year 1948) was that they got support from big countries like Britain and if they didn't get the support they were going to disappear. Don't be sure that Israel will win because God is seeing Palestinians suffering and will not forget them.
Complete bullshit. Everybody talking here about “occupation”. First let’s mention what means “occupation” in classical political sense: “The state of being occupied, taken over, or settled.” Then just two simple questions for these two smart gentleman: 1. Please tell exact date of the military occupation. When exactly its happened? 2. The territory of which state has been occupied by State of Israel. Please tell the names of this state and its political leaders in the meant time. They probably have no answers to this simple questions, because the whole narrative of “israeli occupation” is just fake, linguistic propaganda trick.
@@AmiDar77 So, next questions. What was the name of the state the territory of was occupied by Israel on June 1967? Who was the current political leader of this state? What national currency was used for the inside payments of this state?
Jordan, Hussein, Dinar. Jordan gave Palestinians citizenship, Israel does not. Jordan gave up claims to the West Bank. "Bantustans" is the political situation of trying to give a large group of people of a certain ethnicity as little land and rights as possible, while pretending they have independence.
@@TheShacharZiv Israel captured during the defensive war of 1967 territories which by the UN resolution of 1947 were appointed for arabs state of Palestine, but arabs rejected an on 15 of May 1948 waged the war on Israel which they‘ve lost, but as a result of it Egypt occupied Gaza and Jordan occupied the Judea-Samaria (West Bank) and complete Jerusalem by the way massacred and expelled from there all the jews taking their houses and properties. Nobody’s is talking now about those crimes committed towards zivilian jews by the jordanian authorities until today! Nobody was crying about “illegal occupation of palestinian land by Jordan and Egypt” after 1949. Why? Because at that time there were neither “palestinians” nor “palestinian land”. There were and are the ARABS. Palestinian entity was artificially invented in the middle of 1960s as a political ans diplomatical instrument for annihilation of jews and their state in this region.
@@TheShacharZiv In Israel living 1/5 of its citizens are israeli arabs with all the equal rights with the jewish and all the other israeli citizens. There’s no ethnical difference between them and arabs in Gaza, West Bank or Jordan, they’re same people. Just arabs. Why should Israel actually take care of rights and well-being of people in Gaza and PA if they have their own authorities?! The problem here isn’t Israel, but palestinian authorities Hamas and Fatah who care much much more about terror on Israel using their people then about these peoples lives, health and well-being itself.

THANK YOU! Amazing, wonderful, inspiring - And how refreshing that the focus isn't on "two states, one state, three states, confederation" etc ... but about the foundation for creating solutions that will give both peoples self-determination and peace. - A few highlights for me: What a beautiful observation by Ali: "The world doesn't like Jews; the Arabs don't like Palestinians - so all we have is each other!" Wow! This reminds me of former Pres. Rivlin's observation that Arabs and Jews in this area are destined - not doomed - to live together. Ami was also very clear about this. One little "criticism" of Ali's understanding of what Jews fear: The world of Jew hatred is/was not limited to the European/Western hatred of Jews - including the Holocaust. Jews have also been persecuted and thrown out of many countries in the Middle East... I love how Ali talked of the importance of Palestinians learning to LOVE themselves - and how he does not assume that religious beliefs about the land require wanting to kick The Others out. And how he refuses to let anyone take away his humanity by pushing him into hatred and violence - no matter what. Finally: If third parties can contribute to solutions and incentives - great. But it is absolute not ok for third parties to pick sides, spread the conflict to their own countries, and expect that pressure is going to help the Israelis and Palestinians to find their peace and self-determination.
This is the most nuanced, intelligent and humane conversation on this heartbreaking situation that I’ve, so far, heard. It’s been particularly heartwarming for me to listen to this, coming on the heels of being told in a Facebook Jewish Community Group to which I belong (being Jewish myself), that I am an idiot and should be placed on an antisemitism watchlist, for expressing similar views to the men in this video. I’ve now posted this video to that group
Ted is actually doing something to spread awareness about the Israeli-Palestinian crises and the reality of it. I am sure that this video will do something to at least change minds of those who oppose (or eradicate) the Israelites and the Palestinians. I actually have tons of respect for Ted because they are spreading awareness and being one of those channels who are actually responding to this issue.
Thank you so much for making this video. Your guests’ visions and compassion give me HOPE and PEACE of mind after watching the past months of chaos and violences. Thank you!
These two chaps both describe a process that can provide a lasting solution. 1st stop the violence on both sides. Next, accept reconciliation will take a long time. Stop external meddling. Allow them to find solution that works for them.
Yeeessss! So much of the issue, going back to the beginning, has been external people. There were tensions, but those would have eventually been worked out. But the British made this promise, that promise. Then Syria had this interest, Jordan had that interest, and Saudi has another. The US has this interest, Iran has that interest, Russia has another. And it just keeps stirring the pot. And so much coverage in the media ..... NEEEVER helps.
It's easier to start wars than to end them. It's easier to blame others than to look inward. It's easier to see what is different about someone than to find the things we share. But we should choose the right path, not just the easy path. There's one rule that lies at the heart of every religion -- that we do unto others as we would have them do unto us. This truth transcends nations and peoples -- a belief that isn't new; that isn't black or white or brown; that isn't Christian or Muslim or Jew. It's a belief that pulsed in the cradle of civilization, and that still beats in the hearts of billions around the world. It's a faith in other people, and it's what brought me here today. ---- ---- ---- 🇺🇳 *United Nations* الأمـــــمُ المتّـحــــدَة ✓ ---- ---- ---- …

First let’s mention what means “occupation” in classical political sense:
“The state of being occupied, taken over, or settled.”
Then just two simple questions for these two smart gentleman:
June 1967. Not hard.
@@AmiDar77
So, next questions.

Israel captured during the defensive war of 1967 territories which by the UN resolution of 1947 were appointed for arabs state of Palestine, but arabs rejected an on 15 of May 1948 waged the war on Israel which they‘ve lost, but as a result of it Egypt occupied Gaza and Jordan occupied the Judea-Samaria (West Bank) and complete Jerusalem by the way massacred and expelled from there all the jews taking their houses and properties.
@@TheShacharZiv
In Israel living 1/5 of its citizens are israeli arabs with all the equal rights with the jewish and all the other israeli citizens.
Thank you so much for this talk! So inspiring! Higher thinking! I’m so grateful for your message! It’s already had a massive impact on my thinking! ❤🇵🇸🤍🇮🇱❤
I love this discussion! Both of them are amazing people! you can see them and you feel them and your heart warms and your eyes tear up when they talk and show their feeling. They both should be in power and in charge of their nations! Why we don't vote and support them to run their nations? Why we don't give them more platforms? Why we only hear from them on TED? Thank God! we at least we have TED. share this with everyone, if you love peace and both nations. share it.
THANK YOU! Amazing, wonderful, inspiring - And how refreshing that the focus isn't on "two states, one state, three states, confederation" etc ... but about the foundation for creating solutions that will give both peoples self-determination and peace.
- A few highlights for me:
What a beautiful observation by Ali: "The world doesn't like Jews; the Arabs don't like Palestinians - so all we have is each other!" Wow!
So grateful for this conversation-peace is possible. It will take effort and dedication. Ami and Ali give me hope for the future.
❤
Nice to see a logical discussion.

Thank you so much for making this video. Your guests’ visions and compassion give me HOPE and PEACE of mind after watching the past months of chaos and violences. Thank you!
Woooow, thank you so much for this powerful talk!!!!
This is proof of propaganda to me. I had to search for this and i am subscribed to Ted. Yet, i see so much stuff that pushes anger
Such a powerful video - one of the best podcasts I have heard ever. SO many powerful thoughts, thanks so much for sharing them Ali, Ami and TED!
just when I thought the peace would never be there I come accross this two brave thinkers, Vow!
Peace?! Who are the Palestinians? There are Arabs in Israel living alongside Jews, Christians, Muslims, Bedouins, Druze, All are different Arabs.
